For some reason, Neissa always gets the lame wallpaper and the unretouched pictures. No lighting edition there, though it may not be needed. I'm eager to get her real eyes, Gumdrops Wisteria, and to tame this new wig a little. Though she's the most achieved of my "customized" dolls, she still needs a good make-up (to start with, ahah), painting on her horns, a diva dress (instead of a gosuloli one even in the good colour scheme). It's not enormous, yet always delayed...

For reasons lost to history, a Black Mountain trail sign hangs in the Ranger Coordinators office at Philmont. I do not know whose idea it was, but Yarnell and I figured it was only right we commandeered it for our trip to Blanca. Black is said the be the hardest mountain to climb at Philmont. Blanca is far more challenging, rising over 7,500 feet from the trail head. This picture was taken atop Ellingwood point, another Colorado Fourteener, with Blanca in the background.

Dental implants in Mumbai have become a rage among all those who face problems with their teeth, since its very inception. The idea of dental implants is very similar to the dentures available in the past, which basically consist of a synthetic version of teeth similar to the ones you have lost, fitted in substitution of your original ones.
For some reason, while unattended, the whole front panel of my iPhone has leapt out of the bezel and won't go back in. There is a rubber gasket that has come out with it and is kind of ruined. Wonder if the battery has expanded? Very weird.

"Being young professionals we have noticed that our friends and colleagues have the resources and desire to contribute to community improvement efforts yet do not have the avenue in which to give. Our mission is to instill philanthropy in young people."

Our main reason for visiting Naples was as a jumping off point to visit Pompeii. In the end, after much online research/procrastination/deliberation we chose to visit Herculaneum instead. One factor was the heat at the end of June, there is much more shade at Herculaneum. Also the site is much more compact, and a lot quieter.
We caught the train from Naples, which was quick and cheap, if not a little busy with schoolkids. We wanted to be at Herculaneum close to when it opened at 8.30 to avoid the rush, and to avoid the afternoon heat. In the end the site wasn't that busy. We hadn't pre booked tickets, we just bought them on site, and paid extra for an audio guide. (Make sure you take a passport with you, they take it as a deposit for the audio guide)
What an incredible place! It really is like they have just abandoned the town, it is so well preserved.
After several hours, and several miles, we were starting to flag and called it a day. We kicked ourselves for missing the museum part where they display some of the artifacts found on site! A reason to return ...
Just exactly as I had posted this, I got an email catalog from DWR listing all their new and classic much of it Italian, art furniture. their functional elegant and affordable line of goods. can't say i would toss it out to the curb if a kind person gave me one of their small leather couchs!

Wilson's Phalarope Phalaropus tricolor
Please comment with specific reasons if you have thoughts about the identification.
Dennis Paulson's "Shorebirds of North America - The Photographic Guide" is an excellent book. Page 337, Plate 90.2 of a male Wilson's Phalarope is a good match for this bird. The rusty neck color and pattern is key.
Yesterday I photographed 3 Red-necked Phalaropes, and got nice views. They have a different pattern of red on the neck that I saw well & documented. Here's a photo:

Two days ago I went to Lateral C to try to find the White-faced Ibis pair Jeff had found. (I did. Yay!) While there I spotted a pair of Wilson's Phalaropes. I think everyone else there also got to see them. Today I went back to see if the ibises were still around. I didn't see the ibises, but did see 7 Wilson's Phalaropes.
Putting the word "photos" in your checklist for uncommon birds, as anything other than a temporary placeholder for the real thing, is LAME. It puts undo burden on eBird reviewers to guess whether your judgement is accurate, or, for problem listers, whether you're being truthful. It's drag-and-drop simple to add photos to checklists. Just do it -- IF you actually have photos, they're photos taken of the bird WHILE YOU WERE OBSERVING it, at the time and place of your eBird list entry, NOT THE PREVIOUS DAY WHEN YOU WERE NOT THERE. And make the species comments your own in shared checklists. Write what you, yourself observed. Having your checklist and companion's checklist with identical comments is not of value to you, nor to science, nor to the eBird community. It's a detriment.
Not Norbert is the guy who claims the cow pond in Nass as if it were his own. It's not Kerry's. It's Norbert Marquez's. Hence, "Not Norbert" is a good name for him -- until he comes clean, if he ever does. Not Norbert doesn't give credit, not even for county firsts, in his newspaper blips, saying that would discourage birders. Yet he vainly claims someone else's pond should be called by his own name. Wrong. Besides being contradictory, neither is right. Maybe Not Norbert's licence plate could be changed to read BRAG2XS. Or maybe his tune could change instead. Still calling it as I see it, rather than as I'd like to see it, just like species on my checklists. That seems better to me.
See Something --> Say Something: Don't enable illegal and unethical birders -- poachers. Help break their habits. Call them as you see them.
Stop pishing and using playback on rare and sensitive birds and in heavily birded areas.

Alright, settle in, because the reasons I wear a hat are many, varied, and frankly, mostly hilarious. Sometimes it's a desperate act of follicular damage control. You know those mornings where your hair decides to impersonate a startled porcupine or just lies flat in a way that suggests it's given up on life? Yeah, the hat is a stylish, fabric-based intervention. It's less about fashion and more about preventing innocent bystanders from asking if I've recently been electrocuted or personally offended a strong gust of wind.
Other times, the hat is performing a crucial public service: hiding secrets. These secrets could range from "I definitely just rolled out of bed five minutes ago" to "I may or may not have spilled coffee in my hair" or even the classic "pretty sure there's a small, confused bird nesting on my head." The hat acts as a mobile cone of shame, but make it fashion. It allows me to maintain an air of put-togetherness while underneath, chaos reigns and my hair is doing things that defy the laws of physics and good taste.
And then there's the aspirational hat-wearing. This is where I genuinely try to look cool, mysterious, or effortlessly chic. In reality, I probably just look like I'm either about to rob a bank, herd some sheep, or I've simply forgotten where I put my umbrella and decided my head needed its own personal roof. It's a gamble, really. Will I channel peak effortless style, or will I just look like a mushroom with anxiety? The hat doesn't discriminate, it simply sits there, a silent, often comical, accomplice to my daily sartorial adventures.
