Tropea (Greek: Tropaea, Trophea) is a municipality located within the province of Vibo Valentia, in Calabria (southern Italy).
The town is a famous bathing place, situated on a reef, in the gulf of St. Euphemia connected with the mainland by a narrow strip in the Tyrrhenian Sea, toward the south with respect to Vibo Valentia and northward with respect to Ricadi and Capo Vaticano.
For various practical reasons I decided to switch from using DSLR cameras to using small and lighter mirrorless equipment and I decided that I would go down the Sony Alpha route. In order to switch from Canon and at the same time avoid writing off a very large investment in Canon lenses I needed to purchase an adaptor which would allow me to mount my excellent Canon lenses on a Sony E-Mount body so I purchased a Metabones adaptor.
Unfortunately the combination did not work out as well as I had hoped. The main issue is that I have to focus manually and this has proved to be much more difficult than I had expected. The secondary issue is that my Canon lenses are big and heavy and this does somewhat defeat my ongoing plan to reduce the size and weight of my equipment.
Yesterday Sony announced the Sony A7R MkII and according to various reports this body does address some of the issues that have bothered me but the price of the body will be greater than €3000.
European post-punk rockers Pure Reason Revolution headlined a double-bill with Gazpacho after a two-year hiatus showcasing material from their Eupenea album even though their latest opus is out in three weeks time.
Once again, this Easter Sunday London date was in a skanky run-down former cinema in Hackney. I'm sure the local hipsters think it's cool. Luckily it has a whopping stage and lax security, so I was easily able to get the big camera in and use it to good effect.

This workshop will introduce Reason, a music software program that emulates a rack of hardware synthesizers, samplers, signal processors, sequencers, and mixers. Reason can be used either as a complete virtual music studio, or as a collection of virtual instruments to be played live or used with other sequencing software.

Sadly my Uncle John passed away in 2011. The old Flyboy is gone. He was in the Air Force during WWII stationed in Pacific Theater. He was a gunner in the bomber fleet.
The main reason I managed to drag David along to Dunster was this place, The Luttrell Arms, which is a small 15th century hotel with a renowned pub (at least in Minehead, where we had been recommended this pub by the bartender at The Quay Inn).
You can't miss it, The Luttrell Arms is located along the only street passing through Dunster - right next to the Yarn Market. Here we're looking at the main entrance.

A reason to always have a camera with you! Was out for a walk last weekend, with no real plans for any pics, when there was a droning sound in the distance....suddenly, out of the cloud appeared this, an Avro Lancaster Bomber, from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
This year being the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, the impromptu flypast was quite poignant!

For some reason this staircase reminds me Mediterranean. I think it’s because of all of stone there. And it was right next to a river / bay. It looks like one of those staircases which lead from a beach to some residential complex. I can see before my eyes how somebody emerges from sea waves, put on his or her flip-flops, climb the staircase and go home. Too bad the staircase is covered by snow, otherwise an illusion of sea resort would be perfect. Well, almost.

The reason there is such a gap of time between these two photographs is that at this time I have only four photographs of Louis, and I am putting them in chronological order. If Dad hadn't written "Louis Carter 1924" on the baby picture I would have thought it was Dad, because they resembled each other so much as babies. I am guessing that the photograph on the right is Louis's high school senior yearbook picture. Louis graduated from Central High School in Philadelphia in 1941. Regarding that osculate skin "lesion" on his left cheek: I think it's a flaw in the film, because if it isn't an artifact, then it's a birthmark (and I don't recall him having one) or someone wearing lipstick planted one on his cheek just before this picture was taken (which is unlikely).
Reason why I choose this photo for my final portfolio is because of improvisation. I really don't know why he wanted to do a senior photo at a local Taco Bell, but I stuck with it. He gave me a task, and I think I fulfilled pretty well. I would probably wait until the people in the background to leave before taking the photo, they are a bit distracting.

What reason can one really give for harassing one's poor goldfish with a flash before noon on a Wednesday? I particularly like the way you can only see the very tip of the fish on the left's head, and the flash has partially obliterated the other one's tail. Those are fake plastic trees (okay, fake plastic aquatic plants... but isn't the Radiohead reference cool?) and behind the tank is a watercolour I did of some Buddhist art.

There were 2 reasons for me to go to Sidhpur. One was the iconic Rudra Temple & the other was the Mansions of the Sidhpur Bohra's. Street after street of abandoned buildings with a unique architecture never seen anywhere in India in such profusion. Sadly most of them are locked up as the Bohra diaspora has hit this small backwater hard. A guy sitting on the steps of one of the buildings struck up a conversation with the madman who was furiously clicking away . He told me that some of the owners come back for a family function...rarely. Straight out of de Chirico.
I have not been around is this little guy :) My baby number four has been keeping me busy since his arrival at the end of October. He is sweet and amazing and oh so cute! Gotta love babies :)
Torture Tues at Entradero: For soooooo many reasons, what an awesome class today! First, soooooo great to see Gooooooooo Veronica and her beautiful mom Gooooooooo Annette and their rescue pup Lucy....and a super Happpppppy BD to Goooooo Veronica as well!! Mother of 5 .... amazing!!!!! Secondly, Cat W wins the prize for best performance today...I've never seen her so focused hahahhahaahahahahahahaha!!!! Thirdly, awesome to see Amazing Maral back at it and she left with a sweaty moustache so yaaaaaaayyyyyy!! Great job Social S, Goooo Veronica, Gooooo Annette, Lucy, Windy Mindy, Rainy Paradise Christine, Aloha G, Nica P, Hairy Hannah, Ab Q, Cat W, Ripped L, Gabby Abby, Amazing Maral, Terminator and Wailee C!!
