Székesfehérvár állomás felújítása alatt számos 29-es vonalon közlekedő gyorsvonat Székesfehérvár érintése nélkül, a 40a-44-es vonalak felé került. A képen a reggeli 979-es számú, Tapolca - Budapest-Déli gyorsvonat halad a 2010-ben reaktivált Szabadbattyán - Börgönd vonalszakaszon.
During the renovation of Székesfehérvár station, many fast trains running on line 29 were diverted to lines 40a-44 without passing through Székesfehérvár. In the picture, the No. 979 Tapolca - Budapest-Déli morning express train is running on the Szabadbattyán - Börgönd section of the line, which was reactivated in 2010.
In the middle of the evening northbound intermodal Q ROBCHI leads a few repo locomotives and 8,000 feet of intermodal traffic out of Fort Worth and over the Trinity River. Leading the train is a "fakebonnet" locomotive which had been in storage for a while before being reactivated with a surge in intermodal traffic.

Night was about fallen and it eventually began to rain after almost 3+ weeks cloudless days. Gorgeous Fall colors embraced this little solitude Ogle Cabin in the Roaring Fork Motor Trail area.
Everything seemed to come together at the right moment: long awaited rain drops, Fall colors, dusk glow, and, our unexpected light painting hoping to reactivate the sense of life style of the early settlers.
It appears the tree got off easy.

At 30 years (or close to that) of age, CSX's CW40-8 fleet has dwindled in recent years, going in and out of storage with some being sold or outright scrapped. Some of them continue to hang on, their reactivation a welcome sight for engineers who are sick of running trains with Trip Optimizer. A pair of the old GEs are seen here leading L302 around the curve at Seymour surrounded by fall color.

After being reactivated from storage, The CNW twins lead IG2G2 west through Wheaton on a sunny March morning. It's amazing a scene like this is still possible 22 years after the merger, but for how much longer?
C510, BRM002, 603 and C505 lead 3242 loaded SSR grain out of Exeter.
This was 603's first mainline train since reactivation following over 10 years in storage.

Running nearly 8 hours early, Aurizon grain 8458 from Nevertire heads through Tarro with 6025/6023. The 26 AHGX's wagons at the rear of the train have recently been reactivated to form a second Aurizon grain rake.
I think we were on our way back from Kazaringa National Park when we chose to travel on the 0630hrs from Silghat Town to Chaparmukh Junction. The Northeast Frontier Railway line was metre gauge and motive power provided by German built YF class locomotives, such as 0-6-2 YF 30390 (Krupp 1120/1931), seen here at Puranigudam on 28 January 1979.
My understanding is that at some stage the line was abandoned for several years, but has since been rebuilt and reactivated as broad gauge.

"The Executive Board Members of Deutsche Lufthansa AG also announced the reactivation of the A380 in a joint letter to the company's customers: "In the summer of 2023, we not only expect to have a much more reliable air transport system worldwide. We will be welcoming you back on board our Airbus A380s, too. We decided today to put the A380, which continues to enjoy great popularity, back into service at Lufthansa in summer 2023. In addition to this, we are further strengthening and modernizing our fleets with some 50 new Airbus A350, Boeing 787 and Boeing 777-9 long-haul aircraft and more than 60 new Airbus A320/321s in the next three years alone.”
The best symbiote in the series; I hate to say it, more so than Carnage. His debut was from Issue 569 of The Amazing Spider Man (New Ways To Die). Thanks to Mr. Negative, Eddie Brock was able to reactivate the remnants of the Venom symbiote causing them to bond to Brock's white blood cells.
The CNW GP30 fleet had been in and out of storage for a number years. It appeared they were finally laid up for good in about 1985-86. Then a friend called and mentioned that three of them had been reactivated and were working out of Chadron NE. These three were made operational for the planned FRV line sale around Green Bay. The sale was delayed and CNW had sent the 30's out to Chadron to work some of the kinks out after there last stint in storage. I got some time off work knowing this could be over any day and headed to Rapid City to try to catch them. The first train I seen was a really late running westbound that had arrived at Belle Fourche with 815 on the point. Trouble was it had already cut off the train and was about to leave for the end of track west of town. For some reason the power was wyed and the 815 which lead west was again leading east although coming out of the sun on the BFPRA. Late evening I caught him near sunset with 815, 814, 831, 4117, 4502 and 4562 leading 29 cars. Quite a ride to get out there and I spent a few more days but this was the one and only GP30 in the lead shot I got on the trip. Sept 12,1988 west of Belle Fourche. This is a rescan of one from two years ago.

Journey Beyond, the owners of the Indian Pacific, Ghan and Overland purchased the Vintage Rail Journeys brand last year and have transformed a number of Southern Aurora cars to start a new Rail Cruising business in the Eastern States, predominantly NSW. LVR and associated locomotives are to be used, with 42101 and 4204 earmarked as the mainstays. 4204 is currently undergoing reactivation works, with the venerably 47's filling in for the first tour to the Riverina which departed Sydney on 20 April 2025.
SL03 to Goulburn is seen here at Yanderra. This 5 day trip provides for off train accommodation given the shorter journeys and more flexible timetable provided on this rail cruise.

A panoramic and elevated view of the old DL&W East Binghamton roundhouse and turntable from 26 November 1981. The yard was in the hands of the D&H and the railroad had plans to rebuild and reactivate the facilities but instead opted for a new modern engine house once Guilford took over operations.
Interesting items visible in the background for the keen observer include the tower, high mast lighting, cabooses, an Alco road switcher, a Rock Island trailer, and some Berlin Mills boxcars.
When Dad died, he left me the old Family Pub on Fuel Island in the will. I've had to do so much needed maintenance to the place though, can you believe that it didn't even have any power!
It's located out on a man made island some where in the ocean where it's main purpose is to refuel passing boats and star ships.
On the very same night Dad died, our old, broken down, antique Steam Drone reactivated itself and has been helping me ever since.
A New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA) J train of R42 cars (St. Louis Car Co., 1969-1970) is seen approaching Myrtle Ave-Broadway Station on the BMT Jamaica Line. In the background, another R42 makes its station stop at Kosciuszko St. These R42s were reactivated from retirement in 2020 to cover for R179 cars that had been pulled from service due to door problems.

Pennsy signals...in Brooklyn...in 2023?? Yes! A set of reactivated M3s (Budd Company/1984-1986) are seen passing the classic PRR position light signals as they head eastbound toward Jamaica after departing Nostrand Avenue. The A is the prefix for signals on the Atlantic Branch, and 18 is 1.8 miles from Atlantic terminal.
Why must the simplest things take forever!? Seriously!
OK, so I bought my plane tickets for Mexico today and then went to go buy some tea. My card came back declined because of the Being in Canada thing. Which is fine, I'm glad they at have some security measures.
So I call to have my card reactivated so I can continue to use it. I go through the prompt to get a person (time consuming itself), wait forever, give all necessary information, and get put on hold to wait again because I'm being transferred.
14 minutes later (no joke!), someone comes on the line and asks for all my info again. Give it again and talk with them , and confirm charges, and they reactivate it in 10 seconds. But not before chiding me for not leaving a travel alert.
I'm so sorry that in my last-minute haste, I forgot to do something. Screw you.
I hate telepromts.
And also, I look really fat here. :(
This was the first time that I'd photographed the 69th BS since being reactivated in September 2009, so it was nice to catch them in some sunshine during an otherwise gloomy day. 26/01/2018.

My weekends away from Wiz land usually consist of me going back to the CP River/Tomah area, and attempts to find and cash in on some of the weird things the CP has been spitting out. On a Monday morning a couple weeks back, CP 5792, a reactivated SD40-2, eases by the B&B with an empty rail train bound for points east of Medary for loading.

Seldom seen in daylight this time of year, Ohio Street's second shift workhorse Y233 delivers a single box car (ex-Amtrak) to the Sonwil Distribution Center, off of Ship Canal Pkwy near Tifft.
Sonwil is one of two customers located on "The Lehigh" (the other being CertainTeed), which connects Ohio Street Yard and CP Draw at the north end to Seneca Yard and the South Buffalo Railway to the south. This connection is used daily by CN L531, the daily Canadian transfer train from Port Robinson, ON to South Buffalo, and a few times a week by CSX to either serve their customers or as part of a wye move to turn covered hoppers for General Mills. (Certain hoppers can only be unloaded from one side inside their plant.) The lone box car here is a far cry from the 10 spots available, which have been known to be completely full at times. Neighboring Sonwil to the left is their newly finished Four Square warehouse, which seems to finally have been completed in the last year. However, despite having been laid two and a half years ago, the brand new track alongside the building remains untouched, having yet to see any rail traffic. In fact, directly behind me was a mound of snow covering the start of that track. The lack of any cars here continues to be a puzzling move, following the discontinuation of rail service in September 2023 at their Depew location on the A Industrial, siding in favor of starting up the new warehouse. With locations connected by rail also in Niagara Falls and West Seneca via NS, there's certainly no lack of options for them. Of note, neither of those locations are rail active either, but the infrastructure exists. In the case of Niagara Falls, the track which leads to that location is presently out of service, near the end of the Junction Industrial line downtown. The building Sonwil occupies was formerly part of the Niagara Falls Nabisco plant, whose silos still stand empty today 20+ years since their last usage. Ironically this time last year in January 2024, the West Seneca location was actually looking to reactivate with NS, citing displeasure with delays in switching by CSX at Tifft. NS cleaned the track up and made sure it was in ready condition, but Sonwil never once received a car there either all year long. The West Seneca location was known to previously receive refrigerated box cars. For one reason or another, it's as if Sonwil can't seem to make up their minds on what they want, despite the railroads' willingness to work with them. In the meantime 'ol reliable at Tifft seems to get the job done just fine. To see some more rail traffic generated on their behalf would be a bright spot in a region which continues to lose a couple customers every year.
CSX Train NMWA-9 rolls through the west end of Waterville Yard on 6/9/2023. To the right is a string of dead power, which was moved off of the shop tracks to free up more space for the dead sponge bob cab EMD's CSX brought up. Some of the units on this track would go to B&E and were reactivated while others are being harvested for parts by CSX.

Metra F40C 611 and a F40PH-2 had a Fox Lake bound Milwaukee North line scoot passing the flange greaser in Libertyville in 2009.
The 611 was briefly reactivated from storage to help out while some of Metra's MP36s were rebuilt. The neat cowl unit soon went back into storage at Metra's Western Avenue yard and has been rusting away ever since.

CN C40-8 2119 leads a T-bird South through Forbes, MN. CN has recently reactivated a handful of from storage.
A recently reactivated SD9043MAC leads UP train AASNP-09 on Main Track 4 of the KCT East-West Corridor up to Penn Ave. by KC's Union Station as it heads for UP's Armourdale Yard for work and a crew change.
A recent surge in traffic has forced UP to bring lots of power out of storage including everything from SD60/SD60Ms, the remaining Dash 8s, Dash 9s, and even what's left of the SD9043MACs. Although these SD9043MACs weren't a favorite among any of the crews, it is rather interesting to see these back out and roaming the UP system again. 6/9/18.
Camp Polvo (Camp Dust) was established around 1885 by the U.S. Cavalry just west of present day Redford. Cavalry troops were sent here to guard the Texas/Mexico border crossings and to search for Geronimo and other prominent Apache leaders who were conducting raids into New Mexico and Texas. The camp closed when those operations ceased.
Camp Polvo was reactivated in 1916 thru 1920 during the Mexican Revolution. (1910-1920) The Big Bend Region of Texas was in chaos as the unrest that enveloped Mexico spilled across the border. This was to be the last theater of war for the U.S. Cavalry. I believe these are ruins of the calvary barracks.

86 1056, built in 1932, is shunting some freight cars after arriving with a mixed train from Crottendorf. The only 7 km long line from Schlettau to Crottendorf was the last place, where this type of locomotive was used. The class 86 was already taken out of service in 1976. Only because of the oil crisis some survivors were reactivated in 1982 to replace the diesel locomotives on this line. 86 1056 was one of them. It returned to regular service in the spring of 1987 and was finally retired in the spring of 1988. Scanned ORWO slide.

NS 8302, one of the few reactivated Norfolk Southern C40-8's, leads 12G over the hill at Cresson, PA towards its crew change point at Altoona. Glad to see some 20th century power are still able to earn their keep!
For much of the Summer of 2022, NBM Railways had a record amount of container traffic, brought on by Canadian Pacific. With five additional SD70M-2's undergoing rebuild, the railroad very power short, resulting in most of the SD40-2 fleet being reactivated. On this day train 907-25 is creeping through Bancroft, meeting counterpart train 908-25 a few hundred feet behind me, which had taken the siding.
While there was momentary rush in container traffic over the winter, traffic levels dropped this past spring, only necessitating one train pair. With the arrival of SD70M-2's 6407-6411 all but one SD40-2 ended up in the storage lines. With the SD40-2 fleet being phased out, its unlikely that traffic levels will spike enough to warrant the reactivation of these units.

The two peaks of Frailes Hill were constructed during two stages of intense underwater volcanic activity. The first occurred approximately 13 to 12 million years ago, while the second occurred 9 to 8 million years ago. During the first stage, highly explosive volcanic eruptions generated substantial domes and lava flows, predominantly dacitic in composition. These eruptions alternated with subsequent explosive events. Intertwined within the volcanic sequence are also layers of fossiliferous sedimentary rocks indicative of shallow marine environments. This volcano-sedimentary sequence is intersected by numerous feeder dacitic dikes. During the second stage, the volcanic activity was reactivated and is characterised by the emission of numerous andesitic lava flows and domes, which were darker in colour and accompanied by the eruption of substantial quantities of pyroclastic deposits. The volcanic activity was concluded by the formation of two large mountain peaks, which we see today.
