So- the point of these pictures was that i was observing people. i decided to wear a cow mask on the train, and photographed people's reactions towards it. i guess you could say it was my own little social experiment - and the results were unexpected. i had oversimplified new yorkers and had believed that from living in new york all my life i would be able to predict their reactions- but i was wrong. i hypothesized that in the hysteria of the hustle and bustle of the subway- my silly cow mask would go unnoticed. but to my surprise, i saw a wide array of reactions and realized that new yorkers can't all be categorized into one stereotype- because there is such a huge disparity from person to person, and that the manifestation of the typical new yorker only exists in a selected few of the population-those handful of people that ignored my silly mask. the rest of the people laughed, were intrigued, striked conversation, rolled their eyes, were confused, and more. so here is my documentation of the people.
Yay! My third Explore photo in a little over 2 weeks!! :)
So I’ve definitely felt in a more positive place today than the last couple of days. I’ve been really struggling for inspiration and I feel like my edits have not been up to par with my previous work. It is frustrating, and I definitely feel like I’m in a rut…but I think it’s mostly because my concepts are there…but my execution is lacking. I really need to get a remote…it would make my life 100000X easier. I don’t have money right now though, so I’ll have to wait until my internship is over and I start making money at school.
Visually and conceptually, this photograph is inspired by René Magritte
. More specifically,THIS painting. I’ve heard from a couple people now that my work sometimes resembles his, so I thought maybe I will try a couple different pieces inspired by his work.
As always, music is involved, so conceptually this piece was also inspired by Uh Huh Her’s “Common Reaction”
“How can you feel when
you're wounded like that dear?
Don't mind, it's a common reaction”
"You see, Lord Hicks, as well as being a Duchess, I am also a busy working prostitute and Madame. I control a string of other aristocratic harlots, dominatrices and submissive sissies, from my extensive premises in Mayfair.
"Hmmm! I see from your reaction, My Lord, that you find this a very exciting idea...! Does professional vice intrigue you? Would you care to do business?"

This is a weir.* The afternoon sun turned the water flowing past the weir's watergate chain into a pretty sight--a "chain reaction," Via the chain, the watergate can be adjusted to direct the waters of a large brook into a lower one (as shown) or an upper one (not shown). Usually it is set to direct some water into both.

So I was putting branches onto one of my woodpiles, and I saw this cluster of hundreds, maybe thousands of baby spiders reacting to the vibration of the woodpile moving.
So I waited until they clumped back up, and then purposely jiggled the woodpile again, so you could see their reaction.
Pretty cool, pretty creepy.
A great location and meet up with Phill. Having fun creating this light character lately. Shot with Sony A7ii and Helios 135mm f2.8 at f5.6

Here goes a little bit of self glorification.
Like most of us these past months through the global pandemic have had a some rather negative effects on our/my health in particular in my case my mental health. not that I am ready for the guys in white coats. I lost a lot of self confidence especially in the early days when i lost my job and couldn't. find one .
When I did get a position i kept getting questioned by a knob who nothing about the trade i am in. this all killed my self worth as both enteritis. these past 8 months have seen me settle into a new job that is harder work with a mad boss who is actually OK in all truth. I have started to get back to my old self.
With the opening up of the country Helens world has expanded once again into the mainstream.
Saturday just gone I went to a dance on my own and found that i was remembered by people and they had missed our get togethers.
Last night my nerves once again kicked in my tummy was all over the place and my head kept saying "go home what are doing??" But I got out the car fussed around with myself and headed for the door tot he club, all the while the invisible me was trying to drag me back tot the car.
And then i got into the club had a quick scan for possible trouble and clocked a few odd looks towards myself and few behind the hand whispered comments. and just then the lady who runs the class bounded over so pleased to see me and gave me a big hug. all of a sudden those odd looks turned to confusion lol.

This started life as a rather ordinary photo of a section of chain links.

generated in processing using gierer-meinhardt reaction diffusion algorithm. 4 million voxels (160^3) (i.e. 3-dimensional, not extruded 2D), random seed, approximately 2000 iterations, then polygonized with marching cubes and subdivided for further smoothing. 3d print, 7x7x7 cm.
Tuesday was officially the last day of winter. It seemed like the elements were protesting the change. It was amazing to watch the incoming waves strike the breakwater, then move along it like a chain reaction in progress.
I've been doing some landscaping work on Reaction Grid for the Core sims. One more to go, but that will Have to wait until tomorrow.
A nice place to sit and eat your sandwiches at lunchtime ! ;-)
