The Fiat 1100 TV Cabriolet was first presented at the 1955 Geneva Motor Show. It was technically based on the 1953-1962 Fiat 1100 Berlina.

The 1100 TV Spider was designed at Dipartimento Carrozzerie Derivate e Speciali, with supervisor Fabio Luigi Rapi (It, 1902-?).

The body was shared with the successor: the 1957-1959 Fiat 1200 TV Trasformabile,

In 1959 the 1200 TV was replaced by the restyled 1200 Cabriolet, redesigned by Pininfarina.

The Bianchina series was designed by Luigi Rapi (1902- ). The Bianchina range was technically based on the Fiat 500.

The first series had a roll-top roof. From 1962 a steel roof was also available. A minor facelift followed in 1965.

The Autobianchi automotive company was founded in 1955 by a cooperation between Bianchi, Pirelli and Fiat. Autobianchi became a full part of Fiat S.A. in 1968. It was put under control of the also new acquired Lancia brand. Gradually the production of own models stopped and were sold as Lancia, like the Autobianchi A112, which finally became Lancia A112.

Is a species of locusts of the family Acrididae. Unlike the grasshopper, the locust has short, thick antennae, and its oviposition appendage (auger) is not visible. To "sing", the cricket rubs a rapier part of its hind legs against its elytra like an archer on the strings of a violin. Locusts are voracious phytophagous and can be very harmful to crops when they congregate. Small locust (male about 1.5 cm, female about 2 cm, less active), of various colors: green, (most common color), brown or purple. The lobe of the anterior edge of the elytra base is small. Both sexes are winged: the males are brachypterous, but their wings are shorter than the abdomen; females are micropterous (their wings are vestigial). They reside in lawns, preferably wet.

The 8V was developed by Dante Giacosa and the stylist Luigi Rapi and unveiled at the 1952 Turin Motorshow.. Fiat chose to use the name 8V because they believed that Ford had a copyright on the name V8. Apart from the differential the car did not share any parts with the other Fiats though there was a crossover of parts with Siatta

The engine was a V8 originally designed for a luxury sedan, but that project was stopped..The Fiat V8 had a 70 degree V configuration, displaced 1,996 cc and was fitted with two twin-choke Weber 36 DCF 3 carburettors. with an output of 104bhp and a top speed of 118mph, which was uprated to 113bhp and finally 125bhp.

The cars did well in yhe Italian 2 litre GT Championship, with production ending in 1954, the cars continued to race winning the Italian 2 litre GT Championships every year until 1959..

Always a rare car with 114 of the high-performance coupés built, 34 of which were bodied by Fiat's Reparto Carrozzerie Speciali ("Special Bodies Department"). and 30 by Zagato Ghia and Vignale also made bodyworks. Most were coupés, but some spyders were made as well.

This car is a Mark 2 of which only 34 were built, the Mark 1 had its headlights positioned in the grille aperture

This temporary exhibition was set up to honour the old Ghislain Mahy, by bringing back some iconic items from his collection to the place where it all began: the Ghent Wintercircus.

Unfortunately there were only 10 vehicles on display.

Ghislain Mahy (1907-1999) was a Fiat car dealer and classic car enthusiast who rented this old Wintercircus building for over forty years. Starting in the early 1950s he built up a collection of old and classical cars from more than 950 items. He bought them mainly in France. And many of them were just saved from the hands of car scrapers.

In 1995 Mahy had to leave this special place. His collection was partly sold, the rest was divided over two museums. Restored top cars went to classic car museum Autoworld, Brussels (about 230 items). But the majority, most unrestored cars, found a new home in a new founded car museum in the south of Belgium called Mahymobiles, Leuze-en-Hainaut.

Many of Japan's trains are run by private companies. When you travel from Osaka to Kansai International Airport there is a choice of at least two separate lines, each has their own tracks. As soon as I saw this train I knew it was the one we had to take.

I was not as convenient or cheap as the other line I'd investigated, but it was a no brainer in the end.

The Fiat 1200 series debuted in November 1957 at the Turin Motor Show. The two-model 1200 series was available in Granluce saloon and open Convertible known as the 1200 TV Trasformabile two-seater roadster, or simply 1200 Spider in export markets with sensuous bodywork with its design largely influenced by Fabio Luigi Rapi, Fiat's design director. Inside there was a strip speedometer, and the saloon's steering wheel replaced the wood-rimmed, aluminium-spoked one of the Trasformabile. A novelty feature were swiveling seats, which rotated outwards to facilitate ingress and egress.

In 1959 the Spider was replaced by the Pininfarina-designed 1200 Cabriolet. with a sleek new Pininfarina-designed body with styling quite similar to that of Ferrari's contemporary 250GTPF coupés, especially with the optional hardtop installed. Wind-up windows and swivelling seats remained standard while the new split mesh-patterned grille incorporated angled sides, recalling the prior Rapi-designed Spiders of 1957 and 1958. Alternatively known as either the 1200 Cabriolet or the 1200 Spider, these handsome cars were built by Fiat's Vetture Speciali (special cars) unit.

In 1959 the Spider was replaced by the Fiat Pinifarina Cabriolet, tipo 118G, manufactured by Pininfarina, and sold by Fiat across two generations (1959-1963, 1964-1966). The 1200 was launched at the 1958 Turin Motorshow, sharing the 1220cc engine of the outgoing Spider, though with a slightly higher output. The two-seat 1200 Cabriolet also retained the chassis of the 1200 TV Trasformabile. Front suspension is independent with coil and wishbone, combined with a live, leaf sprung rear axle

The 1200 was not fast enough to be considered a sports car, so Fiat opted to use a OSCA twin cam (1491cc) engine leading to the 1500 Cabriolet , Fiat shifted production to their Mirafiori factory. The cars differed with the 1500 sporting a wider (non-functional) air scoop on the bonnet, a rev counter, as well as the larger drum brakes and 15 inch wheels, in July 1960 the name was changed to Fiat 1500 S Cabriolet and the cars were updated with disc brakes.

In mid-1962 this engine was replaced with a 1568cc twin-cam four of the 1600 S. These cars received a distinctive, asymmetric air intake until 1963 when the 1600 S was facelifted while the 1200 was replaced by the pushrod-engined 1500 Cabriolet.

After Simca took over Ford France in Sept. 1954 existing plans for the new Vedette Series for 1955 were executed without delay.

The basic design for the Vedette-Series came from Ford, Detroit, but the finishing off was done by Fabio Luigi Rapi (It, 1902-?). The Vedette had all luxury of those days incorporated.

In the first years the Vedette Series was also sold in the Netherlands and Germany as Ford Vedette.

For 1958 a restyle for the tail and front was done (2nd generation Vedette). Also received the body a new panoramic windscreen.

After 1961 production was continued in Brazil.

Here a Vedette Chambord is seen on a postcard issued by Musée de L'Automobile du Centre, Valençay.

This car is still to be seen in the museum, as part of the collection of Camille and André Guignard.

The Ariane was presented in April 1957.

In fact it was a kind of hybride: it had the Flash engine of the Aronde 1300 and the body of the Vedette Trianon, the most simple version of the Vedette-Series.

The basic design for the Vedette-Series came from Ford, Detroit, but the finishing off was done by Fabio Luigi Rapi (It, 1902-?). The Vedette had all luxury of those days incorporated.

Simultaneously there was also offered a Ariane 8 with the famous V8 Vedette engine.

The Ariane was replaced in 1963 by the new 1300/1500.

1962 Autobianchi Berlina D.

Autobianchi (Italian: [autoˈbjaŋki]) was an Italian automobile manufacturer, created jointly by Bianchi, Pirelli and Fiat in 1955. Autobianchi produced only a handful of models during its lifetime, which were almost exclusively small cars, with the biggest being the short-lived Autobianchi A111, a small family car. Autobianchis were priced higher than Fiat models of similar size and the brand was used by Fiat to test innovative concepts which later found their way into mainstream Fiat vehicles; these concepts included fibreglass bodies and front-wheel drive.
