The Colebrookdale crossing Rt. 100.

Specilly overhauld forthe 1977 Jubilee celebrations, 1599 was a celebrity vehilce to the end. It survived some shaky times in preservation only to meet its end to an arsonist.

A nice horse property for sale near us for just $3,250,000.00 but you need to bring your own horses.

RT3259 stands on the forecourt of Bexleyheath Garage, March 1974. I wonder if those front adverts would be acceptable nowdays!

Assuming it was Sunday, this was the other bus on the route.

A mixed bunch of London CUOntry vehicels provide the supporting cast to the RT.

Passing Becontree Station

RT3251 was new in July 1950 as one of the distinctive Romford Green Line vehicles. It would remain based there for the first 15 years of its life plying its trade on the routes 721/722 and 726. Its next homes would be High Wycombe and Leatherhead, which is where it was based on New Years Day 1970, when London Country was separated from London Transport, being a country area garage 3251 passed over to London Country ownership.

Two years would pass with 3251 based at Leatherhead and then Staines, before in 1972 the vehicle was acquired by London Transport and was overhauled and repainted red, the first time this RT had been red after some 22 years in service. Having been more recently overhauled than many of the RT’s it was no surprise that 3251 followed the ever receding RT tide as more and more garages phased them out. Stints at Bromley, Catford, Stonebridge Park, Bexleyheath and Croydon followed before her last transfer to the very last bastion of RT’s and close to where 3251 had started her career was to Barking. She was used on the very ast day of RT’s in service and took part in the farewell cavalcade in April 1979. From here she was sold on before passing on to Tony Langley and Robin Abbott in 1986 for preservation. Much was done to bring her into fine fettle by them and they would continue to own and rally the vehicle for the next 26 years before Tony sadly passed away. The vehicle was then offered to Ensign to join its heritage fleet.

A familiar sight on the route for many years.

A westbound BNSF trains shoots over Illinois Route 40 in Milledgeville, IL, where the bridge supports still have "Burlington Route" logos stamped into the concrete.

Photocopies 6p, that's one item that hasn't rocketed in price in 30 odd years.

Mobbed by adoring fans.

The Odeon has long gone, as has route 162, now on the other side of the river.

The only green London bus operating the 19 on 29 March was RT 3183, seen here passing the City of London Academy in Highbury Grove.

Route 19 runing day organised by the London Bus Museum.

Owego & Harford engines 2211 & 2302 power a southbound train through Richford, NY. The first dump-truck was taken by surprise and had to hit his brakes pretty hard in order to stop before the crossing. Traffic on this former Lehigh Valley line is not nearly as busy as the traffic on route 38.

Former London Transport RT 1614 now with fleet number RT 1950 in use as a Pizza restaurant near Levandou, France. It is registered for use on French roads and has moved to a new location since the picture was taken. It is owned by Il Teatro Della Pizza, France and was converted by the current owner. It has had further work done to it during 2014. They have a Facebook page with more information.

Lurking in the shadows, 1790 and 2773. 1790 is still around, 2773 departed to Wombwells in June.

Rt Bus`3316 Made In 1951....Dressed Up For The Occasion...Which We Lost.

Learning to drive the hard way, in an RT, with an instructor yelling in your ear. It worked for thousands, "Chiswick Trained" was a badge of honour.

Smile please! I'll have to try and find the names of the crew. I Know the inspector on the left is Norman Harford, last heard of on the District Line.

Converted to DMS one-man operation in May 1973. This picture would have been taken a little before. The location is the junction of Stanstead Road and Catford Road, just before Catford. The destination is Blackwall Tunnel - extended there in the peaks not for the O2, but for the Delta Metal Works. An SMS on the 108B passes on the other side of the road.
