Resting on the stand in George Street. The flats in the background have gone now, replaced by the Northern relief Road.

As well as he 87 route passing through the centre of Rainham, two other Central routes terminated here -the 165 and 103. At the Church are RT2170 on the 103 and RT3486 on a short terminating 87 with a Country RT in the distance. RT's on the 103 were ousted by SMS buses just 9 months after this picture was taken -25/6/70.

Here's 1599 again, a bit further south on the last day of RTs at Bromley garage.

Departing from Lewisham bus station on a training run, Catford's RT 4756 (TL) was one of 34 RTs transferred to LT from LCBS in 1972, it's former owners livery showing through above the upper deck front window. Monday 26th February 1979. 4V-2.

Here's RT33 doing a bit of shunting.

Enfield garage (E) is actually located in Ponders End and operated RTs on several routes, but all were whisked away for conversion into trainers from 16th January 1978. Three years earlier RT 4757 (E) is captured on the 135 at Brimsdown station. Monday 24th February 1975. 2G-9.

Back 'home' -South Street, Romford by Roneo Corner with RT's on the 87 & 174 routes and a RML (probably on the 165) passing. 15/4/72.

A revised version of my old AT-RT

I started over again from scratch. Parts of the previous model have been reused but I tried incorporate a different/ new design.

The very last RT to return from normal revenue-earning service was RT 624 (JXC 342). With various bodies hanging out the windows, it makes its final approach to Barking Garage.

It's SPACE, but browner than ever! To my recollection, this is the first time I've built a brown fig-scale spaceship, and the first time I've ever used the orangey-brown colour at all. I mean, I don't even know the actual name of it, despite having had some since that Designer dinosaur set many years ago.

But anyway, I digress. You can probably tell that there's some TR inspiration going on here, because that guy is just too cool and I wanted to try his compact building style. But then I added my bizarre angular style, crazy internal structure, and ended up with this. I love it. Come to the NSC Leicester event, and I may even let you swoosh it.

Also, there was some discussion on AFOL 16+ that there's not enough "tough love" constructive criticism anymore, not since CSF died. So I invite you all to rip this to shreds, should you be so inclined. But constructively.

Moderner Rorschachtest.

624 arrives at Gascoigen Estate for the penultimate time.

Lewisham Bus Station was quite new in 1978, now its been replaced by the DLR station. RT 3351 moved to Bow as a trainer in August and was sold to Wombwells in Feb 80.

We called in next at Potters Bar.

The Dodge Magnum is very rare in Europe as we had the car as Chrysler 300C Touring. This generation of the Magnum was built from 2004 until 2008. The RT has an 5.7 litre Hemi V8 engine.

With the area radio car riding shotgun 624 passes the Old Hainault Oak - or where it was, anyway.

The locals must have wondered if a pop star was in town!

RT 1015 only lasted until September.

3 AT-RT using the 501st and desert paint scheme.

And heading back to West Croydon

It rained a bit that day! Here's abusy scene at Crystal Palace. 1654 didn't survive, but it did move around a bit before the end came. I'm sure I've got it on film elsewhere!

To commemorate 50 years since the end of crew operation at Edgware garage, RT 2177 operated on route 292 (the last crew route) on Saturday 15 July 2023. I'm a bit younger than the bus, but I have to say the RT was in better condition and running more smoothly than me!

They are original blinds, from the last bus in 1973.

When in service with LT, spent most of it's working life either at Sutton or Barking Garages.
