Salvia rosmarinus, commonly known as rosemary, is a woody, perennial herb with fragrant, evergreen, needle-like leaves and white, pink, purple, or blue flowers, native to the Mediterranean region. Until 2017, it was known by the scientific name Rosmarinus officinalis, now a synonym.
It is a member of the mint family Lamiaceae, which includes many other herbs. The name "rosemary" derives from Latin ros marinus ("dew of the sea").[4][5] The plant is also sometimes called anthos, from the ancient Greek word ἄνθος, meaning "flower".Rosemary has a fibrous root system. (Wikipedia)
Before our summer vacation this year I bought a solar-powered watering system so I wouldn't have to bother our neighbors to water our balcony flowers every day. The result was very surprising, as the regular water from the pump was much appreciated my rosemary and it even started to bloom, which never happened in the years before :-).
Caught in the evening light a world favourite herb (Salvia rosmarinus) offers a hint of its beauty and evidence of its importance to garden spiders.
Our rosemary beetles [ chrysolina americana ] didn't seem to be put off by the rain. Although it's rather late in the year for this enthusiastic behaviour, perhaps we shall be seeing some offspring very soon, or maybe their larvae will hide away until the warmth of spring next year.
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis} is a lovely spice for cooking.
A lovely taste and aroma. The plant is very fragrant too.
So much so, it is often used in soaps and cosmetics aswell.

I found these two priceless gems - rosemary beetles, chrysolina americana, on our rosemary bush yesterday afternoon. Sadly, this species is classed as a pest but these metallic, dotty, stripy and colourful insects are very welcome in our garden. We have more than enough rosemary for everyone and I do not see any significant damage to the plants.
