I am like a remnant of a cloud of autumn uselessly roaming in the sky,
O my sun ever-glorious! Thy touch has not yet melted my vapour,
Making me one with thy light, and thus I count months and years separated from thee.
If this be thy wish and if this be thy play, then take this fleeting emptiness of mine,
Paint it with colours, gild it with gold, float it on the wanton wind and spread it in varied wonders.
And again when it shall be thy wish to end this play at night,
I shall melt and vanish away in the dark, or it may be in a smile of the white morning, in a coolness of purity transparent.

Peacocks (and Peahens) roam the grounds of Staglands Wildlife Park, north-west of the outer Wellington suburb of Upper Hutt.
And whether the Boys are displaying their spectacular tail feathers, are just strutting around, or (as in this case) just taking some Time Out, they are beautiful birds!
Blue Peafowl (above) originated in India and Sri Lanka, but as "New Zealand Birds On Line" (www.nzbirdsonline.org.nz/species/peafowl) have noted,
Pea Fowl are now held on many lifestyle properties throughout the country, and have even become feral in the upper North Island, especially around parts of Northland, Auckland, East Cape and mid-Hawkes Bay.
Pea Fowl are related to Pheasants - something that I wasn't aware of...!
My In-Laws had Pea Fowl on their farm, but the birds - though tolerated - were regarded as pests because they were noisy, and fowled paddocks with their waste, making the grass less than tasty for livestock!
Thanks for taking the time and trouble to leave a Comment Folks. It's always nice to hear from you, and your comments are always very much appreciated...!
A favorite pastime for the roaming donkeys in the Black Hills is to stop the traveler for a free hand out.

There is an official rhino day, but to me everyday is rhino day.
At the time that I "shot" this rhino baby it was between 2 and 3 weeks old.
They are wild and roam about freely, but because the veld lacks nutrition they do get some additional green stuff as a supplement.
Those who dump the greens do so with one eye on the moms and quite a few times I've witnessed a hurried dash to the vehicle as a mom decided that they were getting too close.
The youngster was still reliant on his mom's milk and didn't have a clue as to why she was eating stuff off the ground. 😁
Even at that young age he has already been de-horned in an effort to deter poachers.

Hey all! Sorry I have been quiet on here lately. I just recently moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado so I will have more content and inspiration than ever before! The other night I went roaming around The Great Sand Dunes and felt as if I was "the martian" left all alone on the planet mars.
Unusually for military RR470 was showing on FR24 and as can be seen she came out of Brize - down to Gatwick with two approaches then went roaming SW towards Shoreham making that small orbit over Partridge Green which is where I first managed to spot her between the houses before heading down here
I had a day of personal time when in Dubai and I got to shoot in this abandoned town...walls fresh with memories everywhere you looked, and I wanted to be a part of it.
When we drove up to this particular building there was a chair placed perfectly outside of the house. We never touched the chair, not even an inch. We left it right where it was and shot with it. Part of that due to how perfect it looked there, like someone put it there to entice us. The other part was out of respect, a certain feeling that, upon moving the chair, we would diminish it.

The places you've been to! Well this "Calypso" calls Cabbage Tree Creek at Shorncliffe home and roams Moreton Bay for fresh prawns which are all sold from makeshift "shops" set up along the jetties on the creek. Years ago, a Co-op bought all the catches and sold them from their seafood shop down the road but it's been closed for a long time and each trawler now goes it alone. You really can't get fresher seafood.
In the distance, you can see the yacht that never goes anywhere, one of several in the creek that seem abandoned.

And here's a little John Denver song to sing in the shower; you all know the tune.
To sail on a dream on a crystal clear ocean
To ride on the crest of a wild raging storm
To work in the service of life and the living
In search of the answers to questions unknown
To be part of the movement and part of the growing
Part of beginning to understand
Aye, Calypso, the places you've been to
The things that you've shown us, the stories you tell
Aye, Calypso, I sing to your spirit
The men who have served you so long and so well
Like the dolphin who guides you, you bring us beside you
To light up the darkness and show us the way
For though we are strangers in your silent world
To live on the land we must learn from the sea
To be true as the tide and free as the wind swell
Joyful and loving in letting it be
Aye, Calypso, the places you've…

Day 14 of #inktober - prompt: Roam
How many online meetings have I sat through while my mind roamed freely through the landscapes of my imagination?
The inktober challenge is very simple. Just draw the prompt of the day in ink and publish it using the inktober hashtags. After a few years where I passed my turn, I am trying this 2024 edition even though it will be a month full of activities and commitments. I chose the free-style of the continuous line to represent the prompt, without fuss or colors.
I hope you like it!

we were heading for Applecross on our may day drive when we came round a corner and saw these highland coo's and calves heading towards us, they love eating the old heather of which there was plenty!

"I can't stand being in this house. In the first place, it makes me terribly nervous. I'm scared to death of doors, locks, people roaming around in the background, under the trees, in the bushes, I'm absolutely terrified."

this was my first time ever attempting to shoot astrophotography, and i could not be more pleased with the results!
settings for reference:
f5.6, bulb for about 45minutes.
(i did not have a shutter release cable so i used some bandage wrap and wrapped it around the shutter button tightly and hoped for the best).
this picture was taken in a valley at the base of Gothic Mountain near Crested Butte. when we pulled up to capture the image, there was a fox in the field. we then heard large rustling in the bushes and jumped in the car (thankfully it was just some cattle roaming and not a bear!)... & of course, the moose shrieking a few hundred yards nearby added to the thrill!
I came across this cat roaming the grounds of the Son Espases hospital, in Palma. I snapped a few pictures with the glowing lights of the main admission entrance in the background.

Deerfield Beach is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. It is located just south of the Palm Beach County line. The city is named for the numerous deer that once roamed the area. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 75,018. It is a principal city of the Miami metropolitan area, which was home to an estimated 6,012,331 people at the 2015 census.
Deerfield Beach's history dates back to 1890 when a small settlement named Hillsborough was developed along the Hillsboro River. As the population grew to 20 by 1898, the settlement was now served by its own post office and the town was named Deerfield for the deer that grazed along the Hillsboro River.
By the early twentieth century, as the town's population continued to grow, the Florida East Coast Railroad constructed tracks en route to Miami bisecting Deerfield. Deerfield's early settlers were mostly farmers who grew pineapples, tomatoes, green beans, squash, and fished along the Intracoastal Waterway. Through the 1940s, Deerfield remained a largely agricultural-based community, but in 1939 the town's name was changed to Deerfield Beach to let tourists know it has a beach.
