Rising Tide teaches students basic boatbuilding skills in a welcoming, relaxed environment. The program works to inspire participants to develop a sense of self-confidence and pride, and facilitate mentorships that provide guidance and support. Students of the program will be encouraged to become more academically prepared to achieve long-term success, whether on a college track or vocational emphasis, having gained skills in mathematics, engineering, team building, and project management.

Rising Star
Staff Sgt. Tyrone Basnight, from the Warrior Transition Center on Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, sings "Every Time I close My Eyes" by Babyface Sept. 27 at the U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern's Operation Rising Star at the Kazabra Club on Vogelweh. Out of 11 contestants, Basnight won the night and is now nominated for the Army competition to be held in November at Fort Belvoir, Va. Operation Rising Star is an Army-wide competition sponsored by Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, giving Soldiers and their family members the chance to record their own CD with three tracks in Los Angeles. Detail at Castle Rising Castle, one of the most famous 12th Century castles in England.
The stone keep, built in around 1140ad, is amongst the finest surviving examples of its kind anywhere in the country and, together with the massive surrounding earthworks, ensures that Rising is a castle of national importance.
In its time Rising has served as a hunting lodge, royal residence, and for a brief time in the 18th century even housed a mental patient. The most famous period in its history was when it came to the mother of Edward III, Queen Isabella, following her part in the murder of her husband Edward II.
The castle passed to the Howard family in 1544 and it remains in their hands today, the current owner being a descendant of William D'Albini II, the norman baron who raised the castle.

The Rising Sun Tavern
Built by Charles Washington, a brother of George, and prior to 1775 George Weedon was landlord. Washington was a frequent guest, and on October 23, 1771, he met here with the officers of the French and Indian Wars to settle their claims against the colony for land bounties.
