CBMM’s Rising Tide boatshop program is a pilot initiative in collaboration with the YMCA of the Chesapeake. In November, 2015, the program began with one of two, six-week after-school boatbuilding sessions offered to Talbot County 6th grade students.
The pilot sessions have limited participation, with the YMCA of the Chesapeake organizing registration and transportation from its Easton location.
Funded through philanthropic support, the program is designed to teach students basic boatbuilding skills in a welcoming, relaxed environment. The goal of the program is to empower students to develop a sense of self-confidence and pride, and facilitate mentorships with shipwright educators that will provide guidance and support during this crucial year in their development.
The sessions include learning basic woodworking skills and safety procedures, with several take-home projects for participants.

Much of its square keep, surrounded by a defensive mound, is intact, and it is now in the care of English heritage. The castle is in remarkably good condition despite being over 850 years old. One of the most striking features is the earthwork surrounding the moat. The built up soil is now covered in grass for aesthetic reasons. There is a gravel path at the top of the built-up area, which enables the visitor to walk right round the building, getting not only a good view of the castle, but also of the village itself
