Sad news that Frank Sidebottom has died .
I had made a mental note to myself to get tickets the other day when i had seen that he was due over here for a gig with John Cooper Clarke .
I first saw him over 25 years ago at Timperley Labour club, he was the silliest and nicest man you'll ever meet in a papier mache hat.
Here's a link to an interview he gave when he heard he had contracted cancer and gives a very good indication of just the sort of fella he was.

On Sunday 16th October we lost a great British Racing Driver - RIP Dan Wheldon.

Gandoca Manzanillo Reserve, south of Puerto Viejo in Costa Rica.
The Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge is located near the Panama border on the Southern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.
It is classified as a humid tropical rainforest, but it’s also home to many different ecological habitats including mangrove swamps, wetland and lowland rainforest, protecting some of Costa Rica’s most endangered plants and animal species.
Normally this excursion would have included time for swimming and snorkeling, but it was much too dangerous. The rip currents were very strong and the waves were fierce.
My friend, my gardening mentor, my erstwhile landlady, my sometime employer, my dispenser of good advice, I wish you peace as you continue your journey.
RIP Fran. We will miss you so much.

This poor little kitty passed away a few nights ago. We don't really know what happened, but let her rest in peace.

I let them get out of the box today and roam around in the leaves.

Just got word of the passing of an amazing human being.
We became flickr contacts over 4 years ago, and his images were always amazing and inspiring.

About him:
His name was Jawid Zeerak and since 2001 he was studying in the USA. He obtained his B.A in International Political Economy in 2006 and was pursuing a doctorate degree in political theory. Later he decided to return to his war torn country of Afghanistan to work there. In a short period of time he was promoted to higher positions due to his efficiency and capabilities. His recent post was Executive Managing Director in the Ministry of Rural Development.
In July 2010, along with other coworkers, he traveled to the northern city of Panjsher where they were implementing a project. When returning home some of his friends wanted to swim in the roaring river of Panjsher. One of his coworkers cried for help and Jawed Zeerak jumped into the water to rescue him. Instead he got caught up in the waves of the river never to be seen again.

Richie Wilson, a popular downtown salesman who was injured in a car accident, died Friday, his employer said.
He had worked at Patrick James, a downtown men's clothing store on Higuera Street, for about 20 years, said Aaron Richardson, store manager.
Wilson was hurt in a two-car accident Dec. 17 on Tank Farm Road. He had been conscious since then, but remained on life support. He asked to be taken off it Sunday, Richardson said.
