This weekend I've been a dog handler for my friend Rick and his team of Alaskans. Here the back half of his team rests before the penultimate leg of the Two Rivers 200 sled dog race.
It's been nothing but dogs around here lately as I'm helping out a couple of friends with their teams. I'm still not allowed to drive a team myself. Shooting lots, but not much time for Flickring.

Here’s my friend Rick, whom I met in the U.S. back in the days when photography was all about timing, light meters, and the magic of analog gear.
Always equipped with his trusty Nikon gear and that genuine smile of a photographer who feels right at home behind the camera.
Wonderful memories of shared passion ! 😉

Not much of a story to this one, I was talking to a man in Pershing Square when Rick came up. He exchanged a few words with the man I was with then walked away. I ran into him about 15 minutes later and asked if i could get his photo.
I met Rick at the Kingston Classic Car Show. He had his customized PT Cruiser on display. He admitted his car isn't old enough to be considered a true classic, but that he is.
I had a huge goober and at least one dog hair on my sensor. Rick had a customer, so I shot his desk. Afterwards he got rid of the uglies. Things are better now.
Rick: You're a camouflage.
Morty: Camouflage? What are you talking about, Rick?
Rick: Ricks have a very distinctive and traceable brainwave due to our genius. The best way to hide from an enemy's radar is to stand near someone with complementary brainwaves that make ours invisible. See, when a Rick is with a Morty, the genius waves get canceled out by the, uh, Morty waves.

After about 2 years, I have finally made a new version of Rick Grimes.
His shirt was painted to look like it was blood splattered and dirty. Hos hair is Will Turner hair with the pony tail cut of. I also dry brushed his beard and hair with grey. I also gave him an AK-47. because rick has been using it since the group escaped Terminus.
What do you think? How does it look?

Richard Christopher "Rick" Wakeman (born 18 May 1949) is an English keyboardist, songwriter, television and radio presenter, and author. He is best known for being in the progressive rock band Yes across five tenures between 1971 and 2004 and for his solo albums released in the 1970s. He is a current member of Yes Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman.
Born and raised in West London, Wakeman intended to be a concert pianist but quit his studies at the Royal College of Music in 1969 to become a full time session musician. His early sessions included playing on "Space Oddity", among others, for David Bowie and songs by Junior's Eyes, T. Rex, Elton John, and Cat Stevens. Wakeman became a member of Strawbs in 1970 before joining Yes a year later, playing on some of their most successful albums across two stints until 1980. Wakeman began his solo career in 1973; his most successful albums are his first three: The Six Wives of Henry VIII (1973), Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1974), and The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table (1975), all concept albums. He formed his rock band, The English Rock Ensemble, in 1974, with which he continues to perform, and scored his first film, Lisztomania (1975).
Wakeman pursued solo projects in the 1980s that varied in levels of success; his most successful album was 1984, released in 1981, which was followed by his minor pop hit single, "Glory Boys", from Silent Nights (1985).From 1988 to 1990, he was a member of Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe which led to his third Yes stint until 1992. He returned twice more between 1995 and 2004, during which he completed several more solo projects and tours, including his most significant of the decade, Return to the Centre of the Earth (1999). Wakeman continues to record albums and perform concerts worldwide in various capacities; his most recent album is Piano Portraits (2017).
Wakeman's discography includes over 90 solo albums[1] that range from several musical styles. He has made many television and radio appearances; in recent years he became known for his contributions to the BBC comedy series Grumpy Old Men and his radio show on Planet Rock that aired from 2005 to 2010. Wakeman has written three books; an autobiography and two memoirs. In 2017, Wakeman was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Yes.

Rick was sitting on the northeast corner of Madison and State. He's an electrician by trade. "This (being homeless) isn't who I am". He's been out here for six months. "I don't want to spend another winter out here", he said. He tried staying in a shelter, but it was worse than being on the street. "It's safer out here", he continued. At the moment he just sleeps on the street. He's waiting for transitional housing. They said to call back in a month, which he did. Now, they said it'll be three more weeks. He's also waiting on a government phone, which will help him connect with an employer and get back on his feet. "My goal for today is to find some socks".

Revisiting Alaska photos from my only trip there in 1980. This one's location is exactly known from the street sign: Fourth Ave. and Railway Ave. I found it interesting to look at this corner in Google Maps Street View. Rick's is now gone, but the view up Fourth Ave shows that Seward has been considerably gentrified since 1980.
Rick was standing outside the door of the 7-11, on the north side of Lake Street, just east of Michigan Avenue. He was opening the door for people as they came in and out of the store. "I've been out here two months", he said. "I'm working part time jobs to make money". One of the first things he asked me was if I knew of any job openings anywhere. (I gave him some information). Hearing him talk, he was so passionate and motivated. He was renting a place to sleep from a guy, but he was taking advantage of him financially, so right now, he sleeps on the train. He's been robbed and beat up on the train before, so he can only get a few hours of sleep at a time. Sometimes he's been so tired, he's slept through the time that he needs to be at work. He got fired from one of his dish-washing jobs because he was eating scraps of food off the plates. When he's not working, he's out here trying to make whatever he can. What does he want people to know about him? "Family comes first!"
