My Uncle was doing fairly well during the depression. He drove trucks to KY coal mines & loaded up & sold it in Dayton Ohio. That way he cut out a couple of middlemen & could sell for less.

The Siller Family started the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation to honor the memory of their brother, Stephen, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001, after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. The goal of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to continue Stephen¹s legacy by supporting our nation¹s first responders and service members. Building for America¹s Bravest, a program of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, constructs specially adapted smart homes for our most catastrophically injured service members.
Maxons Restorations participated in this year's Tunnel to Towers Run (5K), which retraces the path Stephen Siller took that day through the abandoned tunnel back into Manhattan to help after the towers fell.
The restoration of the staircase to the basement is taking place. The hand rail on the front staircase follows a gracious curve and the baulsters are intact. All are being restored & refinished. The cap on the corner post is being reglued.
My grandma's brother. Second major attempt at restoration from 2008. I find trouble with the arm I added because of his awkwardly facing waist and rumpled shirt. Alas. Who knows what his arm was doing anyway?
Study chandelier. Purchased intact, but quite rusted and tarnished, from an architectural salvage. This is the first one I restored.

I remoulded the raised embellishment where it had flaked off and colour matched the paint work using pinks, greens & gold.
The peacocks are both different demonstrating its handmade quality. Made during the Arts & crafts movement, people were trying to distance themselves from the machine made furniture that had flooded the market.
