It was to good to be true, but right after sunset a secondary small non severe thunderstorm started to brew just to the southwest of Kearney.
Even though I just had a spectacular afternoon of some incredible stormscapes, I was in for a treat this night. An electrified thriller, one storm that I wont soon forget.

47776 'Respected' captured at Delph Lane, Keckwick working 1H44 0638 Bangor - Manchester Piccadily 25/02/04.
The Saffron-crowned Tanager (Tangara xanthocephala) is a breathtaking subject, and capturing it at La Minga Ecolodge near Cali, Colombia, was a rewarding challenge. This Andean gem, perched elegantly on a mossy branch, stands out with its vivid saffron-yellow crown and iridescent turquoise plumage. The soft, diffused light filtering through the cloud forest canopy provided an ideal setting to highlight the bird’s intricate feather details and the rich textures of its surroundings. This image represents the delicate balance of nature and the beauty of photographing wildlife in its natural habitat.
For this shot, I used the Canon RF 100-500mm lens at its maximum focal length of 500mm, allowing me to capture the tanager from a respectful distance without disturbing its behavior. A shutter speed of 1/500 sec froze the subtle movements of the bird, while an aperture of f/6.7 ensured a creamy background that isolates the subject beautifully. ISO 800 balanced the low light conditions, retaining vibrant colors and sharp details. These technical choices reflect my approach to bird photography—blending precision and respect for the natural world to create images that tell a story.

First dedicated in 1938 at the British Empire Exhibition of that year. Rededicated December 2008. Peace is "a state of harmony; tranquility, the absence of hostility; justice; goodwill/ respect".. Three dedications are visible on this side dating from 1938: Clan Mackay Society, CPOB Airorie Branch, LRU Paisley Branch, and two, smaller, less legible inscriptions: Kate Beaton, and F.E.N.L AD . Sadly, World War II was already breaking out in Asia and Europe in 1938.
The globe atop the base is covered in letters. At least some spell out words. "Shalom" is pretty easy to see in this photo,
Photographer's opinion: We need a lot more peace in the USA and the world in 2026.
A view of the lower section of the falls flowing under that well-placed bridge.
"Multnomah Falls is the most visited natural recreation site in the Pacific Northwest with more than 2 million stopping by each year to take in the views. Fed by underground springs from Larch Mountain, the flow over the falls varies, but is usually highest during winter and spring. This is also one of the best places in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area to study geology exposed by floods." fs.usda.gov
"The Multnomah people received their name from their chief. Yet, the existence of their great chief named Multnomah has been up for debate. Other Native American tribes in the Columbia River Valley area spoke of him in their oral history, while Oregon historians dismissed him as just a myth. Therefore, there is conflicting evidence of whether or not he was real. However, on top of the oral descriptions of him there were writings including newspapers and journals, which indicate he was indeed real.
Multnomah was chief of tribes ranging much of the Pacific Northwest from Oregon to Canada, and during his 40 years of power he was chief of the Willamettes, as well as war chief of the tribes, ruling from his station on what is known today as Sauvie Island.
Ann Fulton, a history professor at Portland State University, found and collected much of what is known of Chief Multnomah from many written stories. She documented this in her paper The Restoration of an Iłkák'mana: A Chief Called Multnomah. She hoped to bring more awareness to his existence. Particular accounts came from people such as William Tappan and Dr. Elijah White, both agents of Indian tribes. The many verbal and written accounts of Chief Multnomah were similar. He was regarded highly, and many stated that while he was a warrior chief, he was very respected among his people.
It is believed that the end of Chief Multnomah's reign occurred with the eruption of Mount Hood during the 1780s. Later in 1805 when Lewis and Clark reached Sauvie Island they wrote of the “mulknomah” people. This referenced Chief Multnomah, as well as the group of tribes that made up his people." Wikipedia

Oh Yeah... Lightning Storm that evening... It came in late, and I had gear packed and ready in case a storm started to brew. Only a 30% chance but that means its gonna storm in Nebraska.
NWS had just issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Phelps & Kearney Nebraska Counties and it was moving right in my direction. I had time to get into position and wait for the show to begin! I ALWAYS have front row tickets to this type of show!

What you want, baby, I got it
What's you need? You know I got it
All I'm askin' is for a little respect when you get home
Hey baby, when you get home, mister
I ain't gonna do you wrong while you're gone
I ain't gonna do you wrong because I don't wanna
All I'm askin' is for a little respect when you get home
Hey baby, when you get home, listen
I'm about to give all of my money
And all I'm askin' in return, honey
You give me my profits when you get there
Yeah baby, when you get home, oh, yeah, ooh
Your kiss is sweeter than honey
Guess what? So is my money
All I need is just a little respect when you get home
Baby, when you get home

I sat out in the garden last night (hidden behind a wheelie bin!) hoping to get a picture with the DSLR of the badger. I did see a couple of the young foxes, including this one which came within inches of our Maisie. They just looked at each other then the fox moved off. The badger hadn't showed by the time I called it a day. PS the picture will enlarge nicely.

The face of a New York City police officer during the Women's March on January 21st, 2017. I call this Respect because of how these men and women in blue treated the marchers with respect and how the marchers, in turn, treated New York City's finest in a similar fashion. There was no show of force with batons waving in the air or any sense of a military-style occupation. The police were there to help route the march and the flow of traffic, as your friends. The march of 400,000 was peaceful in the tradition of those I marched in back in the 60s for civil rights and against the war in Vietnam. The NYPD has a tough job ahead of them with Trump Tower, the new President's home away from DC, being located in the heart of midtown Manhattan. I salute them for their courage and respect.

THE SEASON OF STRAWBERRIES
Fruits and vegetables are essential foods to fill up on vitamins and minerals, as well as essential substances to strengthen the immune system. They are often eaten raw and therefore it is necessary to respect accurate hygiene practices on how to wash and disinfect them, to safeguard one's health.
In fact, being grown in the open air, potentially pathogenic germs and other chemical substances can deposit on their surfaces starting from the production phase, and continue to become contaminated during collection, preparation and storage in environments that can favor the proliferation of microorganisms.

This image has been MONTHS in the making. When I first found this figurine on Amazon, I knew exactly what I would do with it haha. It got lost in the mail for a month until I got my hands on it finally last week haha.
I took this on Moraine Lake Road this morning. It was cloudy, rainy and cold. All of these images I now have of Highway Patrol Cartman made my drive out there worth while! Oh how I love South Park haha.
