Young Grizzly cub catching up to mother bear - taken in the Canadian Rockies. Hope he has a safe season - life is not easy for baby bears. Only about 35% to 50% of grizzly bear cubs survive to adulthood. They face an incredibly difficult journey, making grizzlies one of the slowest-reproducing land mammals in North America.

Late July 2023...

This month of storms was just down right jaw dropping. Why not continue since we didn't have any storms in May or June! Overtime for July is the way I like it!

90% of the time of year in South Central Nebraska is Hot & Humid. It is normally the beginning of our dry season. But not in 2023.

In the path of the Jet Stream that day that forced some severe thunderstorm development over south central Nebraska. We were not excepting anything super severe but a tornado or 2 is always possible this time of year.

Gear Primed & excited about the views I'm going to get for this event that day. I knew they were going to be photogenic.

Taken with Samsung galaxy 7 edge cellphone. Do not have a camera quite yet but will purchase one soon thinking about the Cannon Sx 720 or 730 Powershot I like Macro for me to be a beginner.

I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but things have been a little "different" lately, right? Even my friends on the street have noticed.

Not all of them get minute by minute news updates like many people do. Nor do all of them understand the extent of what is happening. But it is affecting their lives too. There used to be plenty of traffic for Hillbilly to panhandle in. Now some mornings the neighborhood is like a ghost town. Many of the friendly businesses, pallet yards, recycling places, etc... are closed. No segment of the population seems to be unaffected.

But as I drop food, clothes, etc... off in the mornings (or tonight for Levita, Vera, and Squirrel), there is a level of respect. A hug or handshake has been replaced with a virtual elbow bump. Food gets handed out and I distance myself, and they understand my concerns. Nobody gets offended when I say "Sorry, I can't take ANY chances."

I'm not sure if they observe these new social rules amongst themselves, but I appreciate the fact that understand me.

Just recently, a day hiker lost his footing above Sol Duc Falls and tumbled over two spillways. He is extremely lucky to have survived. As you can see in my photograph the water is a torrent of action as it cuts through this narrow passageway.

Subway signage set up at Franklin St. to honor the memory of Aretha Franklin.

I noticed it by accident, but it's apparently part of an official campaign.

I tried the Franklin Ave. stop on the 2/3 line, but nothing there. I missed the signage at the Franklin Ave, stop on the A/C lines.

Respect the differences. We are all equal, no matter their skin.

Thirty-first in the series ‘Wild Bonsai’, this tree is 60 inches (1.5m) in height and perhaps 600 years old.

'Wild Bonsai' is a numbered collection of photos of naturally occurring bristlecones (p. longaeva) generally less than five feet in height (1.5m) and - as nearly as I can estimate - between fifty and five-hundred years old - some much older. Most will have sprouted and survived in tiny cracks and crevices or miniature basins of sand and gravel. Shaped by the elements, flourishing tenaciously in the most minimalist of conditions, their lives are measured not in the millennia of more robust bristlecones, but in centuries...often mere decades.

'Duality', the cover photo for this album, is to me a matriarch of sorts and will remain unnumbered as a small token of a deeply intuitive and unapologetic respect that remains as transcendent and mysterious to me as it may seem odd to others. The essay that accompanies 'Duality' could, in many ways, apply as well to any other tree I may post in this series.

A perspective: Housed in the Tokyo Imperial Palace, the fifth oldest living cultivated bonsai in the world is something over 500 years old and is a designated National Treasure of Japan.

Brown Edge based Turner's, a well respected N. Staffordshire independent proved a useful source of three second hand acquisitions for nearby Stonier's of Goldenhill. The last of these was TRF 172G, a Northern Counties bodied Daimler Fleetline. There would have been a fourth, another similar Fleetline, but being into the era of Berresford ownership at Stoniers a deal could not be reached on price.

'TRF' as it was known at Goldenhill was a Leyland 680 powered beast. It hadn't been born that way, but Turners developed a liking for Gardners. At the time of the famed Gardner famine, they'd taken a couple of Leyland powered Fleetlines, but had swapped out those power units in preference for the Gardners, as they disposed of the buses concerned.

Back in 1978, here the freshly re-painted bus sets out into the urban wilderness that Goldenhill had become, on its first day in service. It was also to be the last double decker outshopped in Stonier's traditional maroon and lilac, and the last dd painted for them by their traditional supplier Lawton Bodyworks.

At Grand Palais in Paris, Claire Tabouret, an exhibition entitled "D'un seul souffle", life-size models, sketches and preparatory work for the six stained-glass windows she created for Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Winner in December 2024 of the competition organized by the Ministry of Culture, in association with Atelier Simon-Marq, she reveals the behind-the-scenes of this exceptional project. Each model is a life-size reproduction of a bay in the cathedral's south aisle. Produced in monotype, a printing technique frequently used by the artist, they are enriched with stencils for the rosettes and decorative motifs. These projects respect the neutral light of the building, creating a soft transition with Viollet le Duc's stained glass, while offering bright, balanced colors. Inspired by the theme of Pentecost, a symbol of unity and harmony, Claire Tabouret invites you to enter into the intimacy of her creative process and experience a rare moment: behind the scenes of an extraordinary creation.

An example of this were the actions of Mrs Trebogus, her sister Trixie Trebillcock and Betty Beswetherick, shall we say these three ladies are of mature years but nobodies fool.👵👵👵

At the beginning of March following their instincts the three ladies decided to move in together. They had several articulated lorry loads of beer delivered by Sharps Brewery, plus quite a consignment from Camel Valley Vineyard. 🚛🚛🚛🍺🍺🍺🍷🍷🍷

Mrs Trebogus always kept much food in her freezer, plus she had a large vegetable garden and of course the ladies culinary skills were legendary, they were well prepared. 🍖🍖🍖🍎🍏🍋🍊

The ladies felt they would be good company for each other, sure enough their hunch was proved correct as three weeks later the whole country went into lock down, which the ladies had no problem with as they were the type of people in common with so many others that did as they were told. The ladies were able to follow instruction, had respect and complied, plus these ladies all came from special forces backgrounds which required them working in some hostile environments, Trixie worked as a bouncer at Mothercare for many years, yes these ladies are tough.👹👹👹

As the lockdown progressed many on line fitness videos sprang up, the ladies were very keen to keep themselves in peak condition so they followed along with many of these workouts, however none of the videos were of such intensity in order to keep the ladies bodies in absolute peak condition, it just did not stretch the ladies enough, Mrs Trebogus had an idea.💃💃💃

She owns a Mercedes ML63 AMG, so the three ladies went into the garage, Mrs Trebogus got hold of the front bumper and lifted the Mercedes up and down in order to tone her arm muscles.

The other two ladies also carried out this manoeuvre, as mentioned they are tough.

Trixie suggested to Betty that she got underneath the Mercedes, put her feet under the bumper and lifted it up and down with her legs in order to strengthen the thighs.💪💪💪

Everything was going swimmingly then Mrs Trebogus had a go as she likes to keep her thighs in special peak condition, there was an enormous crack, Mrs Trebogus’s left leg fell off. Nothing to do with the vacuum cleaner incident I must add.

Like you do, Mrs Trebogus dusted herself off and said this is not a problem as my car is an automatic (You still have to be there) but when the time comes and we are allowed out I still have my right leg in order to be able to drive. So she picked up her leg, hopped over and placed it in the big chest freezer she had in the garage.🏡

Trixie said “you should seek medical help”, no responded Mrs Trebogus we know the rules, we have been instructed to stay home, not to go out, we will wait until the lockdown is eased, I can still walk on the one good leg, do cart wheels with a slight shimmy, so I have nothing to complain about. Anyway like so many people, if we were really desperate there is always someone locally that can help out, that is human instinct. 🏃♀️💪

The weeks went by, sure enough, some of the lockdown measures were eased and in May people were allowed to drive for over an hour, but return on the same day. Not wishing to trouble the medical profession, Mrs Trebogus went onto the internet to look for alternative medical assistance, one name caught her eye, Mystic Peg, who specialised in limb reattachment services.👩💻

As Mrs Trebogus herself had worked with some of our special forces, she respected the anonymity of Mystic Peg who would only provide her post code, and a time to meet.👩💼

Like most of us long car journeys need to be planned, first you need a full tank of petrol, how many people keep a full tank of fuel just in case they need to go off at a minutes notice. Mrs Trebogus went and filled her Mercedes with fuel so that they could go off to the secret location.⛽️🚘

The sat nav coordinates were plumbed in and after quite some journey the three ladies reached their destination. Sure enough as our ladies got out of the car a fairy was waiting dressed in a Knights of the round table uniform, yes this was Mystic Peg, she said “come with me”, so Mrs Trebogus, with her leg under her arm, Trixie and Betty followed, they all set off into a park, keeping two meters away from Mystic Peg

Mystic Peg instructed Mrs Trebogus to sit on a special little stool, with a bit of her left hip hanging over the edge of the stool. Mystic Peg asked Mrs Trebogus to align the detached leg against her hip. Mystic Peg closed her eyes, muttered a couple of words and within moments, hey presto Mrs Trebogus’s leg was reattached and working like a new one.

As you can imagine (I can) Mrs Trebogus was so grateful to Mystic Peg for her services and asked what she owed her. Mystic Peg said "it is my pleasure to help good people like you and really it was such a simple job".😇👛👜💷💷💷

Mystic Peg went on to say, “as I have not seen many people for a while could I share a confidence with you Mrs Trebogus. Well don’t tell anyone but during the lockdown we had been made aware of a bloke who drove to this very location who could not see his hand in front of his face.

As none of us were on duty during lockdown he allegedly sat over there on a park bench, he gazed up towards the Magic Castle, bingo his eyesight came back, a miracle and he was able to drive all the way home to London”.🏰🙈😱

Mrs Trebogus responded to the fairy “you just cannot make that up”.😉

Thank you so much for looking at my photographs, the comments and banter you leave are so appreciated.

Have a good weekend

🍺🍺🍺🍷🍷🍷🐎🐷💃😎😂😂😂

Sometimes we feel like we are alone on our journey. We feel no one understands. There is One who understands it all and who walks with you every step of your life.

"No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." - 1 Corinthian 10:13

"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." - Hebrews 4:15-16

Japanese Garden also called as The Garden of Three Islands is one of the many gardens within the Chicago Botanical Gardens. Here it is indeed easy to overlook how the Japanese respect for nature and age are revealed. If you look closely, though, the effect is evocative, as seamless as a traditional haiku. The larger rocks are partially buried, as if they have been in place forever. Flowering plants have a short bloom time, reflecting the yin-yang balance between the ephemeral existence of human life and the timelessness of nature. Many of the trees are pruned and trained to give the illusion of age.

This 17-acre lakeside garden includes three islands. Only two (Island of Clear, Pure Breezes & Island of the Auspicious Cloud) are open to the public. Across the lake, the inaccessible island (Island of Everlasting Happiness) is symbolic of paradise—in sight yet elusive.

Sunset is particularly an awesome time to take a walk by the lake around these islands :)

Spring has arrived early in San Francisco, and the tulips are bursting forth in bloom. I love the vibrant warm colors in this lovely Gavota tulip

Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.
