Dark supercell storm clouds gather ominously over a vast, open field, creating a dramatic contrast with the green landscape. In the distance, a tractor is visible, adding a sense of scale and human presence to the expansive rural scene.

I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but things have been a little "different" lately, right? Even my friends on the street have noticed.
Not all of them get minute by minute news updates like many people do. Nor do all of them understand the extent of what is happening. But it is affecting their lives too. There used to be plenty of traffic for Hillbilly to panhandle in. Now some mornings the neighborhood is like a ghost town. Many of the friendly businesses, pallet yards, recycling places, etc... are closed. No segment of the population seems to be unaffected.
But as I drop food, clothes, etc... off in the mornings (or tonight for Levita, Vera, and Squirrel), there is a level of respect. A hug or handshake has been replaced with a virtual elbow bump. Food gets handed out and I distance myself, and they understand my concerns. Nobody gets offended when I say "Sorry, I can't take ANY chances."
I'm not sure if they observe these new social rules amongst themselves, but I appreciate the fact that understand me.

yes there are still a lot that believe in lucky charms or amulets which are no different from horoscopes, zodiacs, feng shui or even religion for that matter . i guess, the bottomline is we just respect their beliefs as long as they keep it personal does not interefere with others
Such a mystical day

Humid and the mosquitoes were eating me alive...
I wouldn't have to chase this evening to catch some incredible Nebraska views of this supercell that formed just to the north of Hastings Nebraska. The perfect sunlight cresting against this storm cell was perfect in every way. I knew I was in for a treat. Just a few blocks from home I set up shop!
We had a dying cell to our west creating a beautiful sunset and I would eventually get a few snaps of this. Though was pointing due east from my location on the outskirts of Kearney Nebraska. It had all of my attention. 4 Cameras in position for this event. Pointing due east I was watching these billowing thunderheads on the updraft and it was a sight to see.
I also knew then that this was going to produce come incredible lighting after dark. I was prepared and ready!

Just recently, a day hiker lost his footing above Sol Duc Falls and tumbled over two spillways. He is extremely lucky to have survived. As you can see in my photograph the water is a torrent of action as it cuts through this narrow passageway.
Story is here; www.peninsuladailynews.com/article/20160522/NEWS/305229981
Note to hikers......respect these places!
Oh go on then, just the one more ;)
I spent a good few hours watching a group of Gannets tearing up the bank on the edge of the cliff ripping the long grass out and flying off with it for nesting material, I sneaked up on this one but it spotted me and gave me the Gannet Stare! ;)
A fantastic early morning at RSPB Bempton Cliffs.

‘All I'm askin'
Is for a little respect’
In York we now have some social distancing signs. I rather like the thoughtful message: ‘Share with Care’.
I’m happy to mention that the couple in the picture did go single file as soon as they saw someone approaching.
As a funny aside, a couple patiently waited to the left until I got my picture, there are some very kind and thoughtful people around, not that I would have minded in the least including them!
Overall, I’d say that about 80% of people in York are being very courteous, others less so. I’m always happy to make way! How are others finding things?

They fought for us, they died for our freedom... They defeated evil in the face of great odds. Evil, today, is checked by their presence... Remove the American Soldier from history - from the South Pacific, from Normandy, from backwaters around the globe - and you aren't on the back-deck flipping burgers and drinking beer... Stop and think what the world would be like absent the stones in Arlington Cemetery... Better, ask your child, your son or daughter... They live in a country in which soldiers shield them. If they can't answer the question, the American Soldier succeeded, he quietly did his job... History repeats because lessons fade -- wither and die in the wake of spilt blood... But rest assured, the American Soldier knows history -- and he will be ready when the time comes again, when the world needs him, because the world, saved by him, advanced.... And forgot.

Well I climbed my first 14er and I have a new found respect for anyone who has done this. What an experience!
Mt. Sherman located is in the Tenmile-Mosquito mountain range, 10 miles west of Fairplay, at 14,036 feet. This 14er is, what I found out later, one of the easiest in Colorado, ranked 45 out of 53. If this is easy I need to get in a lot better shape.
How to explain; jump on a Stairmaster for 3 hours take a 30 minute break then jump on it again just backwards and repeat. Talk about a mental and physical challenge. Between you and me, in my head I gave up about 14 times but somehow I kept going. The last time I was close to the top about a half mile and a few hundred feet in elevation to go, legs on fire, body hated me and I was struggling to motivate myself to go any further. When a 7 year old kid passed me, that was all I needed, I knew at that moment I was going to make it. I’m glad I did, nothing like the feeling of writing your name in the book and what a view!
Can you believe this is fun and we’re planning another one next week?

- Direction Akureyri by road 1 Þjóðvegur second city of Iceland located
at the end of Eyjafjörður Fjord ...
Namely, the arrival in Akureyri is done by crossing the tunnel "Attention" the latter is paying, but no toll and almost invisible signage which is controversial by motorists passing on this road ... you have to pay by Internet and in a relatively short time ... if you forget ... the Icelanders will not forget and you will receive through your rental company a small increased fine !!! you can avoid this toll by taking route 84 which lengthens the journey ... Also watch out for speed cameras located in almost all tunnels.
Respect the authorized speed, it seems that the fines are steep!

ANZAC Square in central Brisbane is a large park which is a memorial to all those who have served and/or paid the supreme sacrifice in support of freedom from oppression around the world. It consists of the Shrine of Remembrance and Eternal Flame in Ann Street and Memorial Galleries beneath as well as numerous individual memorials at the Adelaide Street level. One that was missing until 27 May this year was to those First Nations people who served valiantly in many theatres. This fine new memorial is entitled "The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dedicated Memorial Queensland".
"Bringing the idea to life
On 27 May 2022, a dedicated memorial to Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service men and women was unveiled in Brisbane’s Anzac Square.
Officially unveiled by the Premier of Queensland Annastacia Palaszczuk and the Lord Mayor of Brisbane Adrian Schrinner, the sculpture is one of only a few memorials to Indigenous veterans in Australia, and was created to honour, respect and remember the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women of Queensland who have served and sacrificed their lives for our country.
Cast in bronze, the memorial features life-size figures standing on a ‘Journey Stone’. Navy, Army and Air Force are represented alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander warriors / dancers, depicting a story of embarkation from home via air, land and sea.
The memorial project was funded by Federal, State and Local governments as well as philanthropists and private sector organisations, working with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dedicated Memorial Queensland Incorporated (ATSIDMQI)open_in_new to represent past, present and future Indigenous service, and to bridge ‘the culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their contributions to our shared military history’.
The ATSIDQMI committee worked in partnership with Griffith University, empowering master sculptor Liam Hardy of Sculpt Studios with Indigenous artist and cultural advisor John Smith Gumbula to bring the memorial sculpture to life.
President and Chair of the ATSIDQMI committee, Australian Army veteran and Quandamooka Elder Aunty Lorraine Hatton OAM, noted that ‘Queensland being the only state that has Torres Strait Islander Peoples, is another reason the memorial is unique and truly, inclusively Indigenous.’

These two beautiful purebred Spanish foals (PRE, Pura Raza Española) are waiting for their turn before the well-deserved shower at the end of the day. One seems to bow to the other as a sign of respect or obedience. This picture was taken in the VillaSalada stable in Torrevieja, Spain.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Four metres at 12:59am on Saturday 27th January 2024, off the Mall and Horse Guards Road within the grounds of St James's Park in Central London, one of the Royal parks of London situated in South West London.
Here we see, Sciurus Carolinensis (Eastern Gray Squirrel or Grey Squirrel), a tree squirrel native to North America and first introduced to the UK in the 1870's. Though it was largely resonsible for the decimation of our own native red squirrel population, those are now on the increase and found in certain parts of the UK including Scotland. The Greys are still an ecologically essential natural forester regenerator.
