321 is officially off the list. I have had this shot in back up for a while and then looked at it recently and thought that especially as I will never get it again then I am worth posting this as well. So, here we see on a rather bleak Thursday afternoon Lothian 321 seen on a very usual service 19 to Granton.
In reality the mitigation of moral laws—to the extent it is not illusory—can represent an intrinsic superiority only on two conditions: first, that it confers a concrete advantage on society; and second, that it is not obtained at the cost of what gives meaning to life; respect for the human person must not open the door to a dictatorship of error and baseness, to the crushing of quality by quantity, to general corruption and the loss of cultural values, for if it does so it is, in relation to the ancient tyrannies, merely an opposite extreme and not the norm. When humanitarianism is no more than the expression of an over-valuation of the human at the expense of what is divine or the crude fact at the expense of truth, it cannot possibly be counted as a positive acquisition; it is easy to criticize the “fanaticism” of our ancestors when one has lost the very notion of saving truth, or to be “tolerant” when one derides religion. Whatever the morality of the Babylonians may have been, it must not be forgotten that certain kinds of behavior depend largely on circumstances and that collective man always remains a sort of wild animal, at least in the “Iron Age”: the conquerors of Peru and Mexico were no better than Nebuchadnezzar, Cambyses, or Antiochus Epiphanus, and one could find analogous examples in the most recent history. Religions can reform the individual man with his consent—and it is never the function of religion to make up for the absence of this consent—but no one can bring about a fundamental
change in that “thousand-headed hydra” which is collective
man, and this is why nothing of the kind has ever been the aim of any religion; all that a revealed Law can do is curb the egoism and ferocity of society by channeling its tendencies more or less effectively.
The goal of religion is to transmit to man a symbolic, yet adequate, image of the reality that concerns him, according to his real needs and ultimate interests, and to provide him with the means of surpassing himself and realizing his highest destiny; this destiny can never be of this world, given the nature of our spirit. The secondary goal of religion—with a view to the principal goal—is to make possible a sufficient equilibrium in the life of the collectivity or to safeguard within the framework of the natural malice of men a maximum of spiritual opportunities; if society must be protected against the individual, the individual for his part must be protected against society. There is endless talk about “human dignity”, but it is rather too often forgotten that “noblesse oblige”; dignity is invoked in a world that is doing everything to empty it of its content and thus to abolish it. In the name of an indeterminate and unconditional “human dignity”, unlimited rights are conceded to the basest of men, including the right to destroy everything that goes to make our real dignity, that is to say, everything on every plane that attaches us in one way or another to the Absolute. Of course truth obliges us to condemn the excesses of the aristocracy, but we can see no reason at all why it should not also confer a right to judge contrary excesses.

Frithjof Schuon: Light on The Ancient Worlds
It is that time of year again where Evansrobinson and I head down to Melbourne City for the weekend to meet up with Neil Winch where we hit the streets looking for interesting people to shoot.
I don’t know what it is about this city but it never fails to deliver and as we made our way up Bourke Street Mall it wasn’t long before I spotted a very colourful character. Over I went and introduced myself and went through the usual blurb.
Meet Gary Bigeni. Gary is a well-known and respected Australian Fashion Designer. You can check his designs here.
Originally from Sydney he was in Melbourne working with a few of the local fashion stores.
I moved Gary to a small arcade off the main street looking for some diffused light and fired off a few quick shots. I've included a full length shot of him as I wanted you to see his amazing co-ordination of bright colours that caught my eye. There was nothing demure about his style, from his lime green and pink hair right through to his yellow shoes. A rather extraordinary individual!

I think everyone have their favorites,
mine happen to be birds.
This guy was enjoying a sunny morning
and allowing me to get very close :)
Some things I have learned are, to respect their space,
don't try to touch them, and that they don't like loud sounds
or human speech.
But if you're good at imitating their sounds
it can put them at ease :)
Turkey vultures don't get as much respect as they should. They're ugly and, as scavengers, they do nature's dirty work. But by eating roadkill and other carcuses, they're actually doing us a favor and keeping down the spread of disease.
They do have a cool scientific name — Cathartes aura — meaning golden purifer or cleansing air. But they've also been viewed as a source of disease and a symbol of death. The "buzzards" in those Westerns circling overhead just waiting for the good guys to croak as they run low on water while traversing some cruel desert are turkey vultures.
On the other hand, non-Europeans have a much more sympathetic, even admiring view of the vulture. According to Native American mythology, the sun was once too close to the earth. A fox tried to move it away and failed. A opossom tried and failed. Finally, a beautifully plumed turkey vulture successfully pushed the sun away with his head, but in the process his feathers burned, and he was made bald for eternity. The Pueblo people of the Southwest saw the turkey vulture as a symbol of purity, and used its feathers to remove evil from people and things.

British experts who have been visiting Thai schools here have been struck by the positive attitude of students, the absence of discipline problems, and the strong focus on Thai culture combined with deep respect for other cultures. It's the mutual respect between adult and student that comes from the Buddhist culture. The good behaviour and respect to others is inculcated in their culture. They greeted their teachers with the big smiles and respectful bow which is the essence of the traditional wai hello. The day starts with a whole-school, outdoor listening and singing the nationa anthem and a Buddhist ceremony which appeared to set the tone for the meditative calm of the rest of the school day. In Thailand, the national anthem or phleng chat is played twice a day at 8 o’clock in the morning and again at 6 o’clock in the evening. Phleng chat literally means national song and Phleng chat thai refer to the Thai national anthem.

The national song is not only played at school but also on all radio and tv stations, bus stations and other public areas. People who hear the anthem will automatically stop what they are doing to stand and salute the flag. Even commuters rushing around on the skytrain will pause to show respect while the national anthem is played. The respect for staff is highlighted on teachers' day, when every student brings in elaborate flower arrangements for their teachers. As the school's head said: "We want them to love their own culture."In some Thai schools they have their own Thai culture centre. This may be a single room but sometimes it is a suite of rooms plus a magnificent museum, open to the public. Students learn about Thai poetry, song, history, food, flowers and, of course, about Buddhism. But this does not just involve formal lesson times. They follow regular cultural activities like above in the historical park of Ayutthaya.

A winter scene on LeGrande Avenue, one of the main streets of Charlotte Court House, Virginia (in Charlotte County). Population is between 500 and 750--it's hard to determine and I can't trust the 2020 census, which was badly tampered with by the federal government. I lived on this street from 2008-2017.

At this time of year I always like to post photos as a way of showing my respect to those that made the ultimate sacrifice. Taken at a local war memorial it was nice to see a father and daughter also sharing that respect.

Like all the members of the British Empire who lost their lives to fight for our liberty, poppies come in many colours and shapes.
We' ve heard that word "hope" a lot lately. The Oxford English defintion
of hope is "a feeling of expectation and desire for something good to
happen" ...the objective is still in the future but deemed to be attainable.
Hope that is truly hopeful is determined by that in which hope has been
placed. President Obama's administration is already showing itself to be
one of integrity and respect and transparency, hope for a better future is
not misplaced. For the children of Villa Esperanza, the name itself, Village
of Hope, could be seen as perverse irony given the conditions they are
living in. But for them real hope lies in education and the persistence to
pursue it. Empowerment International's mandate is to offer each child
that opportunity and do everything in their power to help them attain it.

Being twisted and soiled at the aft end of a sailboat is a disrespectful flag display. The bird doesn't know any better, but we do.

This juvenile Northern Mockingbird had been at the seed cake feeder for a few minutes when this Red headed Woodpecker decided time was up and it was someone else's turn.
However the Mockingbird didn't seem ready to give up his place so soon, so they sat there, swinging back and forth on the feeder for a few tense seconds before the Mockingbird wised up and flew off.

Storms were to develop early afternoon but the dry line stalled. Late afternoon into mid evening the dry line pushed just to the west of our location.
With unusually humid conditions for this time of year in South Central Nebraska, this produced the perfect conditions for supercells to develop just to the southwest & west of Kearney Nebraska.
Rarely do we get to see the full development from nothing to a full fledged supercell and this one had fast development resulting in some of my best storm photography for 2012
