The tree that never gave up, we love how nature has such amazing resilience to us humans and the damage we do, one day she will take it all back.

The atmosphere of a sumo wrestler’s training regime is charged with a unique blend of discipline, tradition, and intense physical exertion. Within the austere confines of a sumo training stable, the air is thick with dedication as wrestlers engage in rigourous daily rituals. The sounds of bodies colliding and the rhythmic thuds of hand slaps resonate in the dojo.
In this photograph, the agony of a sumo wrestler is captured as he winces in pain, his face contorted with the intensity of the struggle. The agony etched on his face is almost palpable, and I find myself wincing in sympathetic discomfort.
Although I’m back home in Sydney now, it was great to have visited Japan again after a three year hiatus.

Chichester Cathedral presents its summer exhibition, Resilience in Clay, a collection of sculptural works from the artist Kate Viner.
Through developing this new body of work, celebrating human diversity and resilience, the artist has sought to bring Chichester residents together to explore different cultural values, faiths, and build connections.
The exhibition comprises seven sculptural portraits. Each of the subjects are connected by the fact that they are building a new life in Chichester, some having found refuge from persecution based on conflict and religious, social and or ethnic discrimination.
On top of seeing the sculptures on display within Chichester’s 940 year old Cathedral, visitors will have the opportunity to view the sitters’ own responses to the work, in their first languages, through hand embroidered pieces.
Resilience in Clay will be on show from 12th June – 31st August 2023 and will be supported by a programme of events. The exhibitions forms part of the Festival of Chichester 2023.
It's been an awesome Holiday in the South Island/Te Wai Pounamu, and arriving back to the 'Big Smoke' (Auckland City/Tamaki Makaurau) I composed this image along the Auckland Waterfront, on the drive home.
I have been visiting the Kotare here for the past year, and find them beautiful to watch. When the rain came this Kotare looked right at home, in its element. A sentinel. Almost appearing stoic/defiant in a bleak situation. Hence the title 'Resilience' as in resilence of spirit. Not the sharpest of images, and there is the noise from the square crop. But I like the authenticity of this image.

The black-and-white treatment heightens the emotional intensity of the figure, while the subtle interplay of natural light and shadow breathes life into the material.
The natural setting adds an almost meditative dimension to the image, inviting the viewer to contemplate human suffering in its universal form.
In the heart of the leafy silence, a bronze soul weeps without a word.
This photo captures the very essence of human emotion, frozen in sculpture like a muffled cry.
The monochrome palette enhances the timelessness of sorrow, and the surrounding leaves, full of light, seem to whisper a comfort the statue cannot hear.
Historically I’ve never been good with words in a creative sense. Consequently I have a huge respect for those who are capable of painting a picture in your mind, of what is in their mind, via the words they write on a page. This is something I’ve never been good at, and subsequently when it comes to describing what certain scenes mean to me in words, I always feel I come up short.
In any case though, I can say that I find scenes like this harrowing, as I can’t help but feel a sense of sorrow and pitty for the tree, and a sense of trepidation for us as the onlookers. Trees form part of the lungs of our planet, and though this may or may not depict any direct result of our effect on the planet, I feel like it is a good reminder to myself to try and do what I can to minimise my personal effect on the world around me, and where possible leave it in a better state than it was found in.

on the beach of the bay of pollença, wildflowers find their footing against an abandoned building. their bright yellow petals stand out against the faded graffiti, a contrast between the perseverance of nature and forgotten human endeavors. the beach's natural beauty presses on, with the Mediterranean Sea stretching out into the horizon, unfazed by the weathered structures that dot its shores.

Conceived from a calling to share the lives and experiences of those around her, artist and sculptor, Kate Viner's latest project is a moving and thought-provoking look at the stories behind a selection of people who have found a new life in and around Chichester.
Chlorophina has a lot of respect for winter wildlife including the squirrels. They survive with only their wits and their fur while she has woolen clothes, a warm home, and hot meals.

An amazing, magical tree being I encountered in the woods near Ely, MN. These yellow birches can seed on top of rocks and grow around them. This boulder was enormous!
Ullswater has a myriad of trees on islands, and as the sun peeks round the fells beyond, the light catches on some, keeping the far shoreline in darkness.
I love this place and all the many mornings I've spent alone here, or with great friends. Feeling very lucky indeed.
I have some free time so expect some uploads of the many thousands of photos I've shot over this autumn.
I don't know how this tree has found a successful home here, but I always find images of this tree to be inspiring. As if the tree has resisted untold pressures in order to keep living in a tremendously exposed and vulnerable position. I wonder how long it's been there and how long it can continue to live there?

Suffering is the very essence of life. Without it, life lacks meaning. Or in other words, we won't be needing one.
We are stuck between a truly romantic love story between life and death. We are just the flower that life gives death, flirting with each other, while they are never meant to make love.
The only thing that we need in this romantic circus, is resilience.
White Pocket is a very remote place tugged in the middle of the Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. An ill prepared person never should attempt to get there as this might be his/ her last adventure. No kidding!
But, once you are there ... oh man, it is true paradise!

A sunset view from Chambers Bay Golf Course that includes the lone, iconic fir tree. It has become a symbol of resilience after someone tried to chop it down in 2008. Thankfully it survived. The tree and golf course are doing just fine.
