When she walks down the street

She knows there's people watching

The building fronts are just fronts

To hide the people watching her

She once fell through the street

Down the manhole in that bad way, he-ey

The underground drip

It's just like her scuba days

She was all right 'cause the sea was so airtight she broke away

She was all right 'cause the sea was so airtight she broke away

She was all right but she can't come out tonight she broke away

She was all right 'cause the sea was so tight, air-tight

She broke away broke away

She broke away broke away

She broke away broke away

She broke away

Woodpeckers are often seen as symbols of resilience, perseverance, and tapping into one's inner strength, particularly in the context of spiritual and personal growth. Their persistent drumming can be interpreted as a reminder of the power of focus and determination, while their role in nature highlights their connection to the heartbeat of the natural world.

I'm forever grateful for this waterfall, it helps to heal me when the world's got me down... she is forever resilient and reminds me that I must be too ❤

A tree persists upward and subsumes an old barbed wire fence, which has changed but not stopped the tree's growth.

Yosemite National Park's trees are impressive, not only for their beauty, but their resilience. The pines growing on this pinnacle must find enough water and nutrients to grow in solid granite.

A beaver had chopped down this tree yet it has begun to sprout again! Taken in Humber Bay Park East, Toronto recently. Best viewed large by clicking on the photo.

Hopefully we can show the same resilience when we come out of this pandemic. Stay safe everyone. #BeKind

I’ve recently been to this location after a fresh snow fall, but the scene looked somehow too busy without any leaf on the trees. So I decided to edit this frame I took a couple of years ago during a glorious autumn morning.

D&D Shoe Company was one of the many local businesses hurt by the Western Kentucky tornado. The admin building (left) connected to a warehouse which housed their inventory and operations. Unfortunately the warehouse was destroyed by the tornado and had to be torn down.

D&D Shoes is a salvage company that buys out-of-season goods and single shoes to match them together. They employ 100 people in the area and have been in business since 1985.

According to an interview with Spectrum News, the owner said he believes in the Mayfield community and wants to rebuild. He is hoping to salvage some of the original bricks from the building which dates back to 1901. In the mean time, the business is working out of another warehouse not far from the original location.

These few leaves near the truck hang on while the rest of the tree becomes quite bare.

Had a rare opportunity to visit the fascinating and surrreal Orfordness for sunrise on Sunday with a few other photographers, thanks to the efforts of the very talented Matt Garbutt. Lydia and Mike who own the lighthouse have been working tirelessly to preserve it from the relentless approach of the North Sea for the last few years. I've looked longingly over at the island many times, and as the lighthouse may no longer be there next year it was superb to be able to shoot this important piece of history.

I was driving past this spot which I have photographed before, and couldn't help myself. had to stop even though I had no time too, and spent 15 minutes getting this pano shot of the pier. its still standing...

The mudflats are slowly drying up after no rain in recent weeks. The top layer in the salt marshes has now cracked and is very hard here and there, but below that surface... It remains soft and the first blades of samphire are steadily emerging again.

Deep amongst the undergrowth of ferns, grasses and rushes on marshy ground I was shooting up, towards a low winter sun, to try and capture the subtle colour palette. (explored)

"Which kind of tree are you? Resilient or ready to fall into the river of constant change and turbulence?"

I plan to redo this concept as it hasn't come out quite like I imagined. I guess this is a 'test shoot' (sounds better than a failure...right? ;))

1 : the capability of a strained body to recover its size and shape after deformation caused especially by compressive stress

2 : an ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change (Merriam-Webster)

Resiliencia:

I know it is not a daily use word. But this word, along with empathy, which this should be known by everyone, and holistic, among others, are unknown words for my ignorant president of my country (yes, without capital letters), and he is proud to say it. He says that he cannot rule the country with such "elegant" words. But any man that doesn't know empathy for the people in his country and that does not how how the majority of the Mexican people how they have need to adapt to this adverse times, he doesn't deserve to be in front of our great Country.

Day 3 starts the same way as Day 2 - 421 arriving under the cover of darkness to wait on 112 and 114's arrival. Here the latter rumbles towards Pog East as the hazy sunrise starts to illuminate patches of the higher elevation tree tops.

The resilient patchwork of birch between the train and the rock cut have lost most of their leaves; not to the fall temperatures, but to a relatively small brush fire over the summer. The trees were just retardant enough to withstand the heat and retained the bare minimum of foliage at the top to keep going.

Meanwhile, 114's veteran leader #8612 has been beaten up pretty good over the years and looks a little singed as well. It survives as one of the few remaining un-rebuilt AC4400CWs on CP's roster built back in 2001, yet here it is admirably leading priority traffic from coast to coast on the transcon.

I also like this shot for the swift down the river at left. Swifts in whitewater terminology are classified just below that of a class 1 rapid and this one was fun to navigate in our canoe. Here the river narrows funneling water through the swift creating a strong current and the "miniature" white water.

The atmosphere of a sumo wrestler’s training regime is charged with a unique blend of discipline, tradition, and intense physical exertion. Within the austere confines of a sumo training stable, the air is thick with dedication as wrestlers engage in rigourous daily rituals. The sounds of bodies colliding and the rhythmic thuds of hand slaps resonate in the dojo.

In this photograph, the agony of a sumo wrestler is captured as he winces in pain, his face contorted with the intensity of the struggle. The agony etched on his face is almost palpable, and I find myself wincing in sympathetic discomfort.

Chichester Cathedral presents its summer exhibition, Resilience in Clay, a collection of sculptural works from the artist Kate Viner.

Through developing this new body of work, celebrating human diversity and resilience, the artist has sought to bring Chichester residents together to explore different cultural values, faiths, and build connections.

The exhibition comprises seven sculptural portraits. Each of the subjects are connected by the fact that they are building a new life in Chichester, some having found refuge from persecution based on conflict and religious, social and or ethnic discrimination.

On top of seeing the sculptures on display within Chichester’s 940 year old Cathedral, visitors will have the opportunity to view the sitters’ own responses to the work, in their first languages, through hand embroidered pieces.

Resilience in Clay will be on show from 12th June – 31st August 2023 and will be supported by a programme of events. The exhibitions forms part of the Festival of Chichester 2023.
