SANCTUARY
With the onset of the winter season the sports anglers change focus to lower Fraser tributaries like the Vedder/Chilliwack river to search for the prized winter steelhead. For many anglers, catching a steelhead is an ultimate dream, wether catching it on a fly, bait casting, spinner or centerpin is an incredible experience. These fish are classic and highly respected throughout the sport, It is the hardest fish to catch in the world, fishing or steelhead is not for everyone. You have to brave the cold and damp winter weather, spending hours in the cold, chilly weather, you have to wear layers to beat the freezing temperature, Steelhead fishing is not best-known as quantity fishery but it is absolutely renowned as a `must-try`one. I dedicate this to the strong willed sports anglers of the river of BC.
A day at the river with my fishing buddies & fellow photographers, thanks for a great day at the river,
A few days ago, I went exploring Vallée des Fantômes in Parc National Monts-Valin, I was with my brother Renald(lefion) and my friend Julien (Abo)...we were alone on the summit for about 2 hours....it was a magical experience that I will never forget.

The Vallée des Fantômes
The phantoms inhabit the valley at an altitude of 800 metres near the clear peaks. The trees are so well protected from winds that blowing snow from nearby summits causes up to three metres of snow accumulation, decking out the evergreens with a layer of soft snow that eventually camouflages them completely. These are the phantoms. It is guaranteed that you will experience a total change of scenery! After a good snowfall, the atmosphere is muted, the ground seems to be carpeted in cotton batten and the silence is omnipresent.
Panorama 360º par Abo (Julien).... a must!

Lost Trail National Wildlife Refuge was at one time homesteads and cattle ranches. Dahl Lake was drained in order to create more grazing land. Its mostly been restored back to its natural state but evidence of old homesteads can still be seen.
A great blue heron over the nationally acclaimed mile-long boardwalk that stretches out toward Puget Sound near Lacey in Washington State at the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. Early morning..before everyone gets there!
The west coast of Tasmania can be a very hostile place, subjected directly to the "roaring forties" gales with uninterrupted fetches stretching thousands of kilometres towards South America. Couta Rocks provides a small haven of sorts for the few remaining fishers who continue to make a living from the sea in this area. I was blessed to see it like this!
PLAIN-TAILED WREN Pheugopedius euophrys. This Plain-tailed Wren is announcing its presence with its strong and beautiful song as it perches in a tall shrub at the Pasochoa Wildlife Refuge at 8:36 AM on October 3, 2017.
Formerly placed in the genus Thryothorus, the Plain-tailed Wren belongs to the family Troglodytidae and is found in the Andes from extreme southern Colombia south through Ecuador to northern Perú.
The wondrous Pasochoa Wildlife Refuge is situated in northern Ecuador about a one hour drive south of Quito near the small town of Tambillo. After turning to the east at Tambillo, one drives about 10 minutes to Amaguaña where a right turn puts you on the road to San Pedro de Pilopata from which one continues uphill to the Pasochoa Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is situated in the semicircular collapsed Pasochoa Volcano. Around 100,000 years ago, the volcano exploded and blew off the western half of the preexisting volcanic cone. The refuge is remarkable for its well preserved native vegetation and is located above a stretch of beautiful pastureland facing the interandean valley to the west.

I'm always surprised to see sparrows out on the levees, where there's relatively little vegetation. That's where this one popped up behind a pile of mud.
Un chat du refuge d'où viennent Rambo et Lewis. Les chats restants sont tous sauvages et peureux, j'espère qu'ils trouveront néanmoins des adoptants.

I've been wanting to shoot photos of this church for years and finally got the chance a few months back. The thing that struck me most was the tranquility of this place. Although abandoned by its members it sits proud, strong, and peaceful. Thankfully there is a local movement to raise money to put a new roof on the building to stem the decay.

This is an Osprey nest at the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge, in the upper right of the photograph at the top of the wooden extension is a camera. You can take a look anytime day or night at: www.friendsofblackwater.org/camhtm.html and you might see an eagle, since they always seem to perch there, but you will have to wait until spring to see Ospreys.
