the Scottish Parliament building was really interesting from the outside (it was Sunday so it wasn't open for touring); quite modern. It's pretty clear by looking at both overt symbols and the more subtle architectural features just how proud the Scots are of maintaining their own government (after 500 years).
I found the quotation online and used an image from a screen capture from the movie trailer for "Tintin" that I edited using ComicLife.

Here is a favorite Bible quotation used during Easter.
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.
6He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples...
Matthew 28: 2 - 7 (NIV)
It is not the right angle that attracts me,
Nor the hard, inflexible straight line, man-made.
What attracts me are free and sensual curves.
The curves in my country’s mountains,
In the sinuous flow of its rivers,
In the beloved woman’s body.
~ Oscar Niemeyer

When you’re in a rut, you have to question everything except your ability to get out of it. ~Twyla Tharp

Journal:
White people can't sit this out. I'm non-Indigenous and white and I know I have privilege which I don't deserve. I didn't commit the crimes of my ancestors but I live with benefits because of theirs - this isn't right. As a human and as a Canadian this doesn't sit well in my heart. I am now compelled to speak out and speak against colonial systems which promote inequality.
I often read Khalil Gibran, and always find his words full of wisdom. "Bread baked without love is a bitter bread that feeds but half a man's hunger,"-those who cannot work with their hearts achieve but a hollow, half-hearted success that breeds bitterness all around.
If you are a writer who would secretly prefer to be a lawyer or a doctor, your written words will feed but half the hunger of your readers; if you are a teacher who would rather be a businessman, your instructions will meet but half the need for knowledge of your students; if you are a scientist who hates science, your performance will satisfy but half the needs of your mission.
Your willingness to use your own inner resources to invest your life, especially your imagination, will bring you success. When you undertake a task from your own uniquely individual standpoint, you will become a person. You, me, everyone on this planet is sent free by Him to cultivate all the creative potential within us and live at peace with our own conscience.
We differ in the way we make our choices and evolve our destiny. Life is a difficult game. You can win it only by retaining your birthright to be a person. And to retain this right, you will have to be willing to take the social or external risks involved in ignoring pressures to do things the way others say they should be done.

Today's theme was Quotation Marks, which is an anagram of Atom into Quarks. I thought this was very interesting as forming an anagram is like smashing apart a word and reassembling it from its fundamental particles.
The only book worth writing is the one we don't have the courage or strength to write. The book that hurts us (we who are writing), that makes us tremble, redden, bleed. -Helene Cixous
Scattered throughout the Mackenzie King Estate are quotations from Mackenzie King's Diary installed in the landscape. This one reads "let no word or thought enter there which was not the holiest and best".
I created this mini-poster from a screen capture from the movie trailer for "Snow White".
I love the point of view of standing at the back of a group walking towards the sunrise, emerging from a forest. Night is such a dark time for humans, and surviving it is a celebration. Each morning is a gift, such as each spring is when we emerge from the dark of winter.
The quotation reads "We who consume or make use of a product, we have to appreciate the people who produce it" Renicks Doxilly, Banana Farmer, Windward Islands.

I wouldn't have pegged anyone that goes by "the Feel Good Doctor" as hyper-christian, but whatever. ;)
