If you're living in Europe, November 30 2010 marks the last day you can send in your Kodachrome films for developing. Which is such a shame, I actually can not find any words for it. At least no words which would be quotable.
I decided to use up my last roll during last summer on a trip to London, Cornwall & Brighton. Here it is.

I took my oldest son Kol on a hike to Horton Springs last weekend. What a treat it was to play in the cool water and find gazillions of bugs and butterflies everywhere. The four mile hike was hot going uphill, especially with the camera pack/tripod on my back, but we were rewarded at the top of the trail with cool, clean water to drink as it spouted right out of the earth. We were also treated to cool showers and rumbling thunderclaps all the way back down the trail. Of course, as luck would have it a few of the shots I had hoped to make on the return trip were rained out, but I'm going to assume that's just the universe telling me I need to return soon and try again.
I hope you enjoy the quotes I've embeded on these two versions of this image. They're my own, and they're my first attempt to express something quotable, lol.
"A photograph without color is like an acapella song. One must appreciate the bare foundation of it's beauty without the instrument of color" ~Amanda Manfredi : )
I've recently just realized how much this irritates me. This issue here is that these kids clearly have learned this racist behavior from home, from their family, from their environment. This isn't hip-hop's fault, you fucking idiots. It was perfectly fine for you to call us niggers for 200 years but now that we've taken the word back - NOW it's offensive and needs to be abolished. Really? Because you can't say it? Are you jealous? You don't like us having something that you can't have?
And by the way, while your hearts may be in the right place by feeling that the word is truly disgusting and should be said by absolutely no one, it's none of your fucking business. And you have no business telling us we can't say it. Stop blaming this problem of racism which white people created, on us. Stop flipping these situations back on us and blaming us. Stop. You're so fucking spoiled and privileged, it's not even funny.
Look, nigga. We can say nigga as much as we want, ok, nigga? And nigga, just because it bothers you, doesn't mean we have to watch our mouths, nigga. No, nigga. Nigga we can say it as much as we want. We took the word back, it's ours, so fuck off, nigga, and just leave us niggas alone to use the word nigga as much as we want, and worry about your goddamn selves, nigga. It's not hip-hop's fault, nigga. Jay-Z ain't gonna babysit 100 million teenagers in the world because their parents are too fucking lazy to pay attention to what their kids are doing, nigga. Nigga, that's not my fault, nigga. It ain't my nigga Jay-Z's fault, it ain't my nigga Kanye's fault, it ain't that nigga Waka Flocka's fault, it's nobody's fucking fault except those stupid ass, racist white people. Stop blaming us for making the mess that you clearly made.
Kids are listening to rap music and hearing the N-word? Where the fuck are those kids parents, and why are they being irresponsible and not paying attention to the kind of media their children are consuming? I'm so sick of it. Really, anybody bothered by this, you need to mind your own fucking business, and stop telling us what we can and cannot say, and stop telling us how to fix this racism problem when we didn't even create the fucking problem to begin with. Nigga.

I grew up reading the Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy. There's a bit of me that thinks I ought to put some kind of clever quote here as a tribute, but every sentence in the series is so remarkably quotable that making the decision as to which quote to use would be quite impossible.

Nick: "Who..?"

Hi All & Tim
May I add my thanks to you all and wish you a happy Christmas and lots of good Voling together in 2018. I cannot wait. All those bonfires, cakes and sarcastic humour.
I thought I would be clever and write a piece about Tuesday incorporating some relevant quotes but the effort has quite overtaken me. So here instead are a few lines from a very wise & quotable Englishman .
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour.
I loved her against reason, against promise, against peace, against hope, against happiness, against all discouragement that could be.
Never close your lips to those whom you have already opened your heart.
There are books of which the backs and covers are by far the best parts.
We forge the chains we wear in life.
No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of it to anyone else.
There are dark shadows on the earth, but its lights are stronger in the contrast.
The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again.
Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts.
The whole difference between construction and creation is exactly this: that a thing constructed can only be loved after it is constructed; but a thing created is loved before it exists.
There are loads more to choose from and I have to say I was very surprised, perhaps I should read some of his books instead of relying on BBC Childrens Dramas from my earlier years when, hard to believe I was a sprog with hopes and the occasional dream, many of which have been far exceeded in life.

Hi All,
Many thanks for all your hard work at Flitton Moor on Tuesday. We were slightly down on the usual numbers but it didn’t stop you getting a whole lot done! I know David was pleased with the result and in his own words:
Thanks to all those who turned out on Tuesday at Flitton Moor - you did an amazing job as always.
Re fencing: I was expecting at the very most that half of the fence would be completed - and you did 2 thirds of it. Well done. The FoFM will finish it shortly in the new year.
Thanks also to those who manned the fire - and dragged brash to it. Almost all the was cut down was burnt.
And a special mention to the 6 hardy souls who spent the morning digging nettles.
A Merry Christmas to all, and a healthy 2018,
David
Thank you also to Lucinda, Sue and Erika for helping out with refreshments at lunchtime and to Malcolm and Jackie for such a lovely cake.
The next Tuesday task will be at Sandy Smith on the 2nd January and will be doing a bit more thinning/coppicing in the plantation near the bridge over the Flit plus maybe a few other jobs.
But there will also be a task at Maulden Heath next Thursday (28th) if anyone wishes to come along. The task will be clearing brash and regeneration in the Adder Field and, of course, having a fire; meet at the Picnic Area at 10am.
Thanks for all your hard work this year and I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year!

I decided to use up my last roll during last summer on a trip to London, Cornwall & Brighton. Here it is.
St Mawes, Cornwall
I was barely home this weekend. My first weekend in HK after my Taipei trip
and for those who know me (or who have traveled with me), that's saying a
lot about my current state. You see, I have a bed time and I'm pretty strict
on it as going past it has very serious consequences. And when I'm on
holidays (how very English eh, Josin?), I tell myself that bedtimes, or any
form of proper rest for that matter, are not allowed. When you paid quite
some to fly somewhere, you are there to see places, experience cultures and
eat weird food-- not to sleep until noon after a big night out. Thus, after
very single holiday, I need at least a weekend (or 2, depending on the how
strenuous the trip was-- for all that biking in China, I needed around a
month! That was bad!) to recover. But the past weekend was anything but
quiet rest.
Friday night after work was dinner with some friends then off to a night of
1 drink that got me home just a little before 5 am. I was a wreck who woke
up at 2 pm on a Saturday. After some conference calls with Grace and the
guys, we agreed to meet for some dim sum (at 4 pm! We were deluded!). But of
course, dim sum time is over so we had a good lunch (at around 5 pm, we were
all together in Kwai Fong the previous night so all those present started
our days after noon) instead. Then we wanted to do something "laid back" so
we hopped on the tram to Victoria Park and walked around a bit. After which,
we went to play a game of bowling (that, by the way, is the most complicated
process I have ever gone through just to throw a heavy ball and topple
pins-- maybe Grace will tell the story in her blog, I feel exhausted just
thinking about it!). We called it a night around 11 pm after a good
Vietnamese dinner.
Now, on to the highest point (literally and figuratively -with a tang of
sarcasm- *peace Kian!*) of my weekend. Kian organized/planned this trailing
(it was more climbing than trailing, really) activity up 495 meters to see
the amazing view from the Lion's Rock somewhere in the New Territories. He
was assuring everyone that it's an easy trail. I read in the Lonely Planet
that there are easy parts and hard parts but Master Kian said we'll only do
the easy parts and we believed him like blind ducks. Hehe. So off we went.
We started around 1:30 pm for what we expected to be an hour to 2 hours of
easy walking. Okay, easy was far from it. We were climbing the steep
mountain holding on to barks and ropes for dear life (well, that last bit
was an exaggeration but really, it WAS NOT EASY!). We were all sweating like
pigs under the scorching heat of the sun which couldn't have been said
better when Yurgo the Greek said, "we chose the perfect time for hiking."
Haha! We stopped a couple of times for rest as some of us felt like one more
step is just asking a little too much from our already exhausted legs. There
were a couple of spots that were so temptingly comfortable (sitting on a
rock under the shade of a tree with the cool breeze on your face) but we had
to go on. As Marcos (another Greek, they have this penchant for quotable
quotes) put it, "we are not the meek ones to stop mid-way"--or something to
that tune, I was too tired to remember his exact words. Haha! After a little
more leg-abuse, we got there. We made it!
495 meters up is definitely a better view of Hong Kong. If going up is too
much work (it is, believe me and save your legs!), I took some photos from
up there. Beautiful eh? It should be, I woke up with the most sore legs in
the world this morning and I guess, for the rest of the week.

In his remarks, the Nobel Laurette for Literature, Prof Wole Soyinka paid tributes to Nelson Mandela describing him as an embodiment of humanism, service and leadership. Speaking, the Consul-General of the South African High Commission, Lagos, Mr Darkey Africa noted that the legacy of Nelson Mandela resonates beyond the shores. The two events were held in collaboration with United Nations Association of Nigeria (UNAAN) and Global Youth Leadership & Girl-Child Foundation (GYLGF).
"I teach suffering, its origin, cessation and path. That's all I teach", declared the Buddha 2500 years ago.
The Four Noble Truths contain the essence of the Buddha's teachings. It was these four principles that the Buddha came to understand during his meditation under the bodhi tree.
The truth of suffering (Dukkha)
The truth of the origin of suffering (Samudāya)
The truth of the cessation of suffering (Nirodha)
The truth of the path to the cessation of suffering (Magga)
The Buddha is often compared to a physician. In the first two Noble Truths he diagnosed the problem (suffering) and identified its cause. The third Noble Truth is the realisation that there is a cure.
The fourth Noble Truth, in which the Buddha set out the Eightfold Path, is the prescription, the way to achieve a release from suffering.
* * * *
goodreads: quotable quote: Stephen Batchelor
“The Four Noble Truths are pragmatic rather than dogmatic. They suggest a course of action to be followed rather than a set of dogmas to be believed. The four truths are prescriptions for behavior rather than descriptions of reality. The Buddha compares himself to a doctor who offers a course of therapeutic treatment to heal one’s ills. To embark on such a therapy is not designed to bring one any closer to ‘the Truth’ but to enable one’s life to flourish here and now, hopefully leaving a legacy that will continue to have beneficial repercussions after one’s death.”
Stephen Batchelor, Confession of a Buddhist Atheist, p154.
* * * *
I distinguish between Buddhism 1.0, which is based on the metaphysical beliefs of ancient India, and Buddhism 2.0, which discards that metaphysics in favour of praxis-based vision of the dharma founded on the worldview of secular modernity.
The difference between ancient Buddhist societies and modernity is too great for traditional Buddhism to simply be reformed. We need to rewrite the operating system itself.
The Four Noble Truths thus become The Four, or the Four Noble Tasks.

Uppaya Retreat - Beyond Secular Buddhism
ELSA can operate in any moment of our life. Every situation gives us the opportunity to embrace it with clarity, with understanding, to let go of our habitual reactivity, our dogmatic beliefs, our desires, our fears, to open up to a still, quiet, transparent space in which we somehow come to rest, even for a moment, and from that space, which is not conditioned by grasping, we can respond. We can say something, do something that comes from the depths of ourselves rather than from our habitual beliefs and opinions and our ego, basically. And that, I feel, captures the essential movement of the Dhamma. Again, we see here the contrast between a truth and believing in it as something essentially static, as opposed to a task, which is a constant embrace and response—an embrace of and a response to the condition of life as it presents itself to us right now. Whether that’s going on within us, whether it’s in a social environment, whether it’s in a political environment, this offers us a framework or a template for living.

Life Is Punctuation.
When you work with words all day (and who doesn’t, really?), it’s easy to believe life’s story happens entirely in the words.
After all, the plot of life is driven by verbs banging about, bouncing off nouns and pronouns in sometimes complicated ways, with a (hopefully) tasteful dash of adverbs and adjectives along the way.
Not too many words, but we pray not too few.
But unless your life is haltingly narrated by Christopher Walken or William Shatner—or brilliantly spoken aloud by Victor Borge—the equilibrium, pauses, and signifiers of punctuation often slip by, unpronounced, unmentioned, and unnoticed.
The story of a life needs punctuation to make sense of it. We need the bangs of surprise, the quiet ellipses of reflection and grief, the joyful dashes of interruption, the question-marks heralding change and learning, the serial commas of brief pauses, and the bullets of to-do lists.
We need the parenthetical asides, the editorializing brackets, and knowing what was said—and left unsaid—between the quote marks. (Heaven help us when we omit the “scare quotes” of sarcasm!)
Life is more than the words on our page, it is also very much found in the punctuation.
May every day begin with a question mark and end with a full stop and be filled with punctuations of surprise, love, joy, kindness, righteous anger, and even verb-less silence now and again.
I came to life with a bang❗️
But I’ll probably end with an interruptive—
"A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on."
— John F. Kennedy

I've been attending Body Balance classes for a month now. Doing tai-chi, yoga, balance, Pilates and meditation exercises 3-4x a week gives me joy and fulfillment.
The exercises are hard. But this quote which I'd often read within the gym's premises is the reason why I still go on.
Quotable Quotes from Elijah, our Body Balance instructor every Sunday:
"It's not how far you go. It's how much you've learned through the experience. Just let go and surrender."
"Things come in due time. Have faith and persevere."

War hero, Vietnam protester, the first ultra marathoner, inventor of the smiley face, a brief foray into the Black Panther party, international pingpong sensation, football star at Alabama, bonafide chocaholic, Shrimp millionaire, best friend, parent, and forever quotable. If I could be anyone in life, it would have to be Forrest Gump. Disclaimer: This photo is form IMDB.

"You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette" or "You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs" meaning "reaching a valuable goal may require some sacrifice or loss" This quote has been attributed to a number of people including Napoleon and Robespierre.

Easily one of the most quotable people I know, Lisa's brain functions in a way unlike any other. I am positive that if the medical community was made aware, they would wish to conduct some scans.
Two-thirds of this triptych were from a little hidden beach about twenty minutes walk from the UVic campus. Last I counted, that's three beaches within easy walking distance. Absolutely in love with this part of the country. Although, technically my phone kept telling me that I was in the United States.

On another note, today is Ryan and my fourth anniversary! 4 years is a LONG time but we love each other as much as ever. Ryan is awesome. I love you Ryan! Thanks for tolerating me!

The company also introduced the first of its Euro VI engines, the D13K which is available as an option on the new Volvo FH and compulsory for new trucks in Europe from January 2014 Other quotable new features are the I-torque driveline and the I-see fuel-saving technology. With the new thirteen-litre engine, the name has changed to FH13.
The truck received a facelift in 2020, with most notably a new headlight design, an updated interior, new safety features, and efficiency improvements, with pre-facelift models remaining available in certain markets as the Volvo FH Classic.
The FH received a minor update in 2024, featuring new LED roof lights, revised logo and badging, updated I-See, updated aerodynamics,
