So, when I turned round from charting her journey so far, I saw she'd jumped into the bucket of water; I just caught her climbing out.
She keeps doing something interesting with her tail, making me wonder whether it's supposed to make them follow it like a target or something.. Who knows?
(Probably David Attenborough actually ;o)
Not much time for photos with this group. There was a backup of Jeeps while people were negotiating a hard spot, so I jumped out for a quick shot.
I got to use my roommate's dslr, and had some fun taking these photos. the evol body is really very beautiful.

I picked up a $2 men's polo and refashioned it into these cute yoga capris for my 5 year old. I quickly drafted a 3 piece pattern from a pair of her shorts. I cut out the 2 main pieces from the shirt's sides, keeping the side seams and bottom hems. Then I cut the pocket off the front of the shirt, keeping the pocket backing and button in place, and sewed that to the side. Serged the crotch seams, then the legs in one long seam. Added a waistband of rib knit, and VOILA, cute and comfy capris!
Saw a Virginia Rail for the first time in 2 years! i had thought that while I got a couple of good quick looks at it dashing out from the grass and back again, I didn't have a photo to prove it... but turns out that I didn't completely miss it with the camera.
I should admit that I'm sure I would have 100% missed it but it was calling loudly and so I was sure there was SOMETHING invisible there to try to find. It was making what Sibley calls "Interaction Calls", not sure with whom it was interacting. Young, perhaps? no way I would have seen those fast black fuzzballs.
I saw it on the 'two way' part of the S loop, looking across the narrow 'canal. Another car of viewers and I were looking at the water with our grills facing each other... when I passed them, they hailed me and we shared how glad we were to get good (if quick) looks at this one. It was their driver's second sighting of the species - while I have seen it more often than that, it's still a thrill to lay eyes on one. The first one I ever saw was also at Ridgefield, although that was at the viewing blind, almost exactly 4 years earlier.

I loved sewing these and will be super disappointed if they won’t fit The Baby.
They’re all about mixing fabrics and I challenged myself to incorporate great vintage fabric I was lucky to receive and combine it with other prints – that would not scream girly. That’s why I used David Butler’s Curious Nature – it’s a fairly manly print. And a modern one – though I love love vintage fabric, I don’t just want to make something that could’ve been made 20, 30 or 40 years ago.

yes, its a little (a lot) "cut-and-paste-y" but it was interesting to work through the difficulties of doing composite and green screen photography (matching lighting, perspective, shadows, blending edges, etc.) and I'm ready to go learn more so the next one is even better. Here are the original photos.
So just to get something posted, once I combined the photos (select>>color range on the green screen), I applied a lot of different layers to minimize the most glaring problem, the mismatched lighting. I tried to pull over the shadows from the greenscreen images but that was leaving too many other artifects of the green (and again, I wasn't trying to spend too much time, just a quick attempt). There are obviously other issues, the next most glaring one that I think I'll need to learn is to blend the edges into each other.
The green screen is thanks to Alan and Terrance at the latest garage shoot for the Seattle Flickr Group. About 30-40 photographers with over 10 different set ups including green screen, 3 different motorsycles and a lot of models.
A quick look around Palmers Rough Local Nature Reserve in Shirley, Solihull. It's not that a big an area.
Got on at Jacey Road and walked over to Northbrook Road, then up Olton Road.
I followed a dry path before that ended. And headed into the woods where I found the paths to be a bit muddy!
Palmers Rough is a Local Nature Reserve and Park located in Shirley, Solihull. It covers an area of approximately 7.3 hectares (18 acres) and consists of two separate woodland blocks; Palmers Coppice to the east, and Squires Coppice to the west. They are separated by open grassland and include for two football pitches and a small children's playground. A wide range of plants and animals makes Palmers Rough an important urban space and was therefore granted Local Nature Reserve status in 2000. The presence of Palmers Rough is noted within the Domesday Book, and suggests that the woodland dates back over 900 years.
