Lightning scared the heck out of me as a kid but as I grew older it became a source of fascination. A desire to capture one of the most powerful events in this world was an original driving force behind taking up photography.
Over the last few summers I've waited night after night for a storm to roll through so I could get those long exposures clicking away to capture its splendor. This year things are a bit different. Adding a 10 stop ND to my kit allows me to do the same thing in broad daylight. The question still remained, would a flash of lightning be bright enough to show up through the nearly black glass? Well this shot proves the answer to be a resounding YES!!!
This tiny butterfly is solid blue inside. I will keep an eye on it and try to get a photo of it's wings open.
More from Thurlbear Quarrylands and Thurlbear Woods, this time the butterflies.
The same pair of grizzled skippers as in the previous shot. After pairing up they quite quickly settled into this position and seemed very unconcerned about the macro lens a few inches away.

On 08/02/20 I headed to Derby station to see a couple of light locos. The first was DRS 57301 working the 0M59 Kilmarnock CE Sdgs to Leicester LIP move. This was unusual in that it travelled to Crewe via the WCML then across to Stoke and North Stafford Jn, but instead of going via Castle Donington (requiring no reversal), it came up to Derby and turned before heading across to Spondon to continue south. Very odd.

When they came for the boats, a few things still got left behind - including what looks like it might once have been a trailer. As this is nowhere near a launch ramp, though, it presents a bit of a puzzle.
After hanging out on Pan Am waiting for the high hood on FI-1 to head east, I started to head home and as I crossed over Pratt's Junction Crossing I saw the headlights gleaming on the rails. Nice quick stumble
Whilst painting I managed to spill my cup of tea. Usually a catastrophe of such proportions would cause me to curl up in the fetal position and start crying over the waste of such lovely nectar. This time however, before my tear ducts could react, I saw something in the spill.
Before I knew it the Muse was upon me and I searched frantically for a pencil lest my creative urge abandoned me. After about a long minute of searching I found one behind my ear (damn those days spent on building sites) now all I had to do was a few quick lines and the Muse disappeared to relieve Molly Quirke (age 9) of a small case of creative block related to drawing a horse.

Seen in Burford is N27 ECS, a Bova FLD120.365 Futura Club C70F coach in the fleet of Ebley, Nailsworth, Gloucestershire. It was acquired by Andybus, Dauntsey, Wiltshire in April 2011 and was reregistered AJ05 BUS in May 2014, although it had reverted to its original registration by the time it joined Ebley in April 2021 and given its current mark shortly afterwards.

Would it still be historically accurate to give a Russian the gaiter legs on the right? I was going to get a matching marine torso to use with it yesterday but thanks to friggin CB day they sold out within 30 minutes.
