sterling silver ring. nice design... found it on www.iluren.com/ring_p1.html

Ms. Barbara read a book about the dewey decimal system to the children and then explained each section and what type of books they may find in that section. Ms. Barbara then asked them about specific questions relating to the 500's and what were specific books would be found in the 500's or "science section". Ms. Barbara mentioned 3 series, including the magical school bus, magic tree house and Bill Nye DVDs are very good science resources. Ms. Barbara had book displays and activities at different stations focusing on the 500's. At the 510's was a mathematical rainbow, 560's was a dot to dot dinosaur, 550's drew a photo of their favorite season, 590's Origami dog and a fun find the hiding animals page, and 580's Painted a tree. Once they visited each station and completed their activities they received a special bookmark.

The Staffordshire Hoard golden helmet replica - Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.

Revealed on the 23rd November 2018.

Just a zoom in, as I noticed a BBC Midlands Today team making a piece about it, so just in and out when I saw it!

The original pieces were too fragile to reassemble into a helmet so they made two replicas, the other is at the Potteries Museum in Stoke-on-Trent.

Could assume that the King of Mercia wore this, until they were defeated, and hurriedly broke up the pieces and buried them, where they remained until they were found in 2009!

Staffordshire hoard: Replicas of 'king's helmet' on show

The Staffordshire Hoard Helmet (reconstruction).

The original helmet was probably made in England between 600 - 650 AD. The style is very similar to helmets of the same date found at Sutton Hoo in East Anglia and Valsgärde in Sweden. Rows of animals, marching warriors, figures with spears and figures on horseback decorate the helmet. These powerful symbols demonstrated the importance of the wearer on the battlefield, and were probably though to bestow special protection.

We do not know exactly who the helmet was made for. Helmets like this are most often found in the graves of princely leaders or warriors. But not this one. The Staffordshire Hoard helmet was thoroughly, even violently, destroyed before it was buried. Why, and what happened to it's owner, remains an important and intriguing question.

When questioned by Senator Cantwell, Exxon Mobil Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rex Tillerson (not pictured) said that oil should cost between $60 and $70 per barrel, if the price of oil were based on supply and demand fundamentals. Oil was trading at $98 per barrel on Thursday morning, after plunging 5.5 percent yesterday.

Girls question US soccer star Abby Wambach during a soccer clinic in Bedford, NH, 9-10-09.

This is a true story. Emma was walking with her dad and started asking him questions, and this is exactly how they rolled out. The answers were much less coherent then her train of thought as you can imagine. She was only four then. The picture I created using one photo of Emma and two textures, one by rockerdoodle and the other by firesign 27_7. This is my second attempt with textures, after reading up on it a little bit in this months issue of Photography Monthly. I did the first one the wrong way around.

Anyway Happy Fathers Day, if you are one!

Although I love the metrics aspect of Last.fm, I find they raise more questions than they answer (possibly that's what Metrics are for).

So please answer the following questions:

1) have you heard of 'Boards of Canada'

2) have you heard of 'Siouxsie and the Banshees'

Now, I would have thought, in a straw-poll, and possibly based upon universally recognised measurements such as record sales etc, that the second question would have garnered more positives.

Looking at the plays and shouts shown on Last.fm however, one could postulate that despite the Record Companies protestations to the contrary, listening to music on the internet is a truer reflection of public consumption - and the bands that have been earning money from the 'traditional' distribution models have not been the bands that the public, money being no object, would actually have listened-to (and therefore made rich).

Or am I talking bollocks?

Also? I love my 100mm macro lens. Need to use it more.

One of the most exciting components of A+ Partners in Education, Battle of the Books gets fifth grade students excited about reading. A lively academic competition, Battle of the Books improves reading comprehension, builds vocabulary, and teaches teamwork and good sportsmanship. The 2015 competition runs concurrently at Howard, Mt. Hebron, Oakland Mills, River Hill and Wilde Lake high schools.

Teams of five students and one adult coach each read the same 16 pre-assigned books over four months. Selected by HCLS instructors and HCPSS media specialists, titles include a wide range of reading levels and subjects. Thanks to generous sponsors, all teams receive a set of books. In addition to reading the books, teams choose a team name then dress accordingly.

During the "battle" (a 50-question exam), a moderator asks questions that relate to one of the following: a direct quote from one of the book characters; a statement about something that happens in the book; a passage taken directly from the book; details about an illustration or picture. Winning teams receive prizes.
