A bit of a tight squeeze with my back to a lamp post, 37413 pausing at Warrington Bank Quay with 1H48 19.54 Llandudno-Manchester Piccadilly on Friday 4 August 2000. Loadhaul 37884 is in the north bay platform and out survives 413 as it is still out and about mainly on unit drags with ROG and it is in Europhoenix (Vauxhall) livery. Note in film days one had to accept ghost images of folk moving around on time exposures.
Well, managed to get a small 30 minute break from our little one, so just went to the local and over shot area of the Quays.
Although a popular subject with snappers, I just wanted to keep doing something with the camera!
Anyways this is a 6 shot multiple exposure HDR
Looking north across Sydney Cove from Circular Quay at dusk this evening.
Tuesday, 8th December, 2020.
The so-called 'Fast Manly Ferry' is just arriving at the Quay after its journey from Manly. This is the smaller, faster, but not nearly as elegant, version of 'The Manly Ferry'.
Photographed about 30 minutes ago, and now processed in 'Snapseed', whilst I have pumpkin soup and a bread roll at 'City Extra' cafe, Circular Quay, looking at the Sydney Harbour Bridge all lit up for the night.
When I leave this cafe my plan is to walk across the harbour bridge, and then trek up the Pacific Highway to Chatswood, where I will take the Metro to Cherrybrook! And goodness, it's already 9.00pm.

The spectacular cliffs at Hartland Quay with their incredibly contorted rock layers are always worth a visit and at low tide there is plenty of sand, rock pools and rocks to scramble over.
Abstract of the new Quays Bridge footbridge in Bath. The bridge has curves both laterally and vertically!
Taken on a very wet day (well it is Manchester). The Quay West building on the Salford Quays, is a stunning building with bronze glass. However I thought a b&w worked better to reflect the moody sky.
Been wanting to shoot this wreck at Orfordness Quay for a while now and decided today was the day. The sun rose and was obscured by low level cloud and I thought my day was scuppered just like the boat. But 45mins after sunrise the middle level clouds suddenly lit up and presented me with the BOOM shot, chuffed I got this as this boat is so photogenic, I will return of that there is no doubt :-)
The late afternoon sun illuminates a muddy creek at Morston Quay with a late-flowering sprig of sea lavender in the foreground.
In it's first year of service and then just a novelty close to midnight 142046 stops at Warrington Bank Quay with the 23.13 Crewe - Preston on a foggy 29 November 1986 with the late but great Ron Nelson standing still for 10 seconds while I recorded this. Ron passed away far too early, a true gent and my Gen man at the time him letting me read the working timetables. By coincidence this was taken exactly 34 years to the day that the last pacer ran (142004) while 046 never made it into preservation.
Boat Quay was an important centre of business and commerce in Singapore during the mid 19th century.
While the port and economic centre has moved to new places, the area remains a tourist area, containing many pubs and clubs. I stayed in this area during my visit.
Greenway Quay 0n the River Dart in South Devon is adjacent the Greenway Estate which was the home of Agatha Christie. The Dittisham Belle can be seen taking on passengers to transport them across the River Dart to the village of Dittisham on the west bank of the river.

The Elizabeth Quay Bridge is a modern and distinctive pedestrian and cyclist walkway located in central Perth. Opened in 2016, it was a key element of the area's revitalization project, which aimed to reconnect the city with its Swan River waterfront. The bridge is distinguished by its elegant "S" shape and twin arches that rise gracefully over the water. This structure connects the western promenade of the quay with an artificial island, facilitating movement for people and offering panoramic views of the river and the city skyline. The design, by the firm Arup, has won several engineering awards. It is a popular spot for both residents and tourists, who use it for walks, exercise, and photography.
Greenway Quay on the river Dart in South Devon, as viewed from Dittisham. There's a ferry across, just ring the bell outside the pub and it will come across for you!
Using my old TZ7...wet wet wet again this evening! I've added a blue tint to this in photoshop.

A reworking. I posted a mono version of this shot a few days ago.

A welcome visitor to the area was ex DRS 37218 now with Europhoenix branding stops in the up goods loop at Warrington Bank Quay with 5M57 18.14 Carnforth HS - Derby RTC with two barrier coaches 6344+6346 on a damp Monday 2 December 2024.
Liverpool has some of the greatest historical waterfront buildings in the world. The large brick warehouse in Wapping Quay was built in 1856, damaged in the Blitz in 1941 and converted to apartments in 1988.
Randomly came across prices for the apartments and they range from £150,000 - £350,000! Nice location just outside of the city centre but definitely out of my price range lol

As I've shared quite a few photos at the Quay I thought I'd play with black and white with this view.
From a trip to Pembrokeshire in late summer/early autumn last year. I liked the juxtaposition between the rocks and the concrete that together formed the sea wall/quay. The location was certainly one of the more unusual ones, clambering down to this point via a steel ladder in the dark was fun!
The moody sky at sunrise did finally break to produce some spectacular colour.
It was a very brief visit to an area that I look forward to exploring more of.
