Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura) on the pasture side of the Greenway, Mission Creek, Kelowna, BC.
I almost missed him/her as s/he quietly sat down at the base of the dike. I'd seen this behaviour before, however, conserving energy by fluffing feathers and reducing activity to a minimum....
What is Time anymore?
We're all indoors.
The world turned on a Dime.
It's now Quarantine Time...
Built for Rogue Brick's 101 part challenge - this week's theme: Time.
extract from the personal photoproject called "quarantine | 20"
"quarantine | 20" is a personal photographic project created during the period of isolation from covid-19. Strictly made in the home and in strictly outdoor spaces, it makes use of simple and easy to find material. Very minimalist photographic ideas to describe, tell, this decidedly anomalous historical period as it is seen through my eyes.
Loneliness, isolation, fears, needs, desire to return to the normalcy of all time. But what is normalcy?

Name another railroad with a stunning view right out of their shops. Okay, there are probably lots, but I've always enjoyed the KBS' Big 4 trackage immediately south of shops.
51 loads for Lafayette begin their journey.

Two sets of Amtrak Hiawatha Service equipment "quarantine" under the train shed of Milwaukee Intermodal Station on a warm evening. Two sets laying over in the station simultaneously was a very rare sight before the pandemic; due to Covid-related timetable changes and the resulting flux in equipment needs, these days an extra set stays overnight in Milwaukee.
This was my quarantine box.
Long after it'd been established SARS-CoV-2 doesn't spread well through fomite transmission I kept a box to quarantine anything I brought inside because OCD is a universe of universal precaution. Even after being fully vaccinated, I'd handle every object as though it were slathered in viable virus. The more even-keeled part of the brain would butt in with a, "Hey! We're not even sure how many copies are required to be infectious, let alone how many you'd find on objects, and evidence of presence doesn't mean viability!" To no avail.
Little stresses add up. What you think is keeping you safe serves only to constrict how you move in the world. False security through feeding paranoia. I'd had enough. Time to trust the immunity juice and stick to reasonable precautions.
Before recycling that chunky bastard, I of course had to see if I
could fit inside. And if I fits, I sits :). Balancing inside of a tiny cardboard box while not knocking over a flash, and not poking your eyeball with a remote trigger antenna... been on worse flights.
There is almost always something not working with this angle at Bellwood. Often there are one or two UP trains parked awaiting either access into Proviso or onto the Geneva Sub. NA11 runs light power from Norpaul. The Harbor maintenance summer blitz is in full effect. Pick your poison really.
This day was the exception though, and I benefitted from the thrashed ties stacked up on the CGW connector. There was also another connection in the NE quadrant here for eastbound movement onto the CGW. Fascinating little spot to re-live history along the west end of the Harbor.

My entry for Biocup 2020 preliminary round. The theme is future
greetings in times of corona: no hugging, kissing or shaking hands, but at least some star trek vibes. and don't forget the security distance.

This week: Sitting in quarantine. Time for some views around in the neighbourhood. Whatever happens behind other windows – do I want to know? Also, some close-up views on the balcony. Winter quarantine vanishing soon.
The album can be found here: 2022 | 52 projects.
