First flight in the wild! We have done some very short test flights in the safety of the garage, but this was the first time we have let it fly free. The addition of safety bumpers to protect the propellers proved very useful as we had a few less than perfect landings. On the whole, very pleased though.
Here is my brother’s quadcopter on the roof of his car. He has tested and worked out a few things about his quad:
- The canopy made the quad handle poorly perhaps due to the added weigh or wind resistance
- The T-Rex 700 skids also seemed to have had a negative effect on the handling of the quad perhaps this was due to the added weight and the location of the weight
If you don’t experiment with this stuff and generally mess about you won’t improve upon your quad.
So for a day there, it looked pretty nice out at Jackson Park Harbor. Snow covering everything today. Spring will come soon I guess
Flown with a stock Inspire 1 and X3 camera
So I finally got a toy to play with and I figured I'd try a pano. I don't know really how to use it well yet, but I expect this will be a lot of fun in the coming months/years.
A local black bear in the field across the street from my house gets a visit from a quadcopter…note we were very far from the bear who didn't seem to care about the quad which was still a few hundred meters away from him.
Sunset photo taken at an altitude of 392 feet above Port Orford, Oregon from my DJI Phantom 3 Pro quadcopter. Processed in Adobe Lightroom 2015.

Landing of a Remote Controlled drone equipped with video camera sending a live feed to VR goggles.
The Virtual Reality Goggles have multi-axis orientation sensors, and they control the orientation of the camera on the drone, i.e. if you turn your head to the right, the camera will rotate to the right, etc.

Great weather, time to bring out the quadcopter. The nice thing about this flying session was the company. My wife had open heart surgery just 4-1/2 weeks before so it was nice having her come along to watch and capture some video of me flying.
Two things to notice about the "catch". 1) I had to turn the Spark around because the front object avoidance system wouldn't let me get close enough and 2) Spark tries to maintain a min distance between it and your hand so you have to give it a couple seconds to respond to a full down stick.
Kathy used her iPhone X to capture the from the ground video clips.
I used this opportunity to try hand catching the DJI Spark.

Peyruis - "Fly Away"
Had first tentative trial flight in the garage. The controls will take a bit of getting used to. My son finds the controls more natural than I do - too much time playing computer games. We had a couple of minor crashes, but fortunately no damage!

“If the world is 70% h2o why don’t individuals fly their quadcopters in the h2o?”“Because quadcopters are not h2o proof ?”
Oh Nicely, believe once more.
With the assistance of a h2o proof quadcopter body, flying (or swimming if you favor) beneath h2o is entirely feasible without much too much h...
