Always learning new stuff about my DJI Spark. This time around it was "Circle" and "Rocket". These automatic techniques would be difficult to do manually. Note that I finally got out of "Beginner Mode" control.

Taken with a GoPro 3 Black mounted on a quadcopter, Bit of vibration caused the image to suffer from a bit of 'jello effect. Also had to make slight crop to remove propellers.

I’ve borrowed a GoPro Hero 2 and plan on mounting it on my quadcopter at some stage this weekend. In this photo I’m experimenting with the camera’s location and mounting.
The quad is now setup to fly in an ‘X’ configuration (two motors forward). This means a camera can be mounted facing forward without one motor and prop right in front of it. To change from ‘+’ (plus) I reprogrammed the KK board (firmware XCopter V4.7 [m186] kapteinkuk) and changed the mounting orientation of it. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. The only thing that might be an issue is the battery as it lays left to right. It’s safer and better to have it lay forward and back.
My brother and I had some suggestions to improve the quads setup
-Reinforce the yaw gyro to the main board with hot glue (the small upright board connected by three pins)
-Cover the KK board with some type of canopy- to reduce interference from wind and temperature to the gyros
-Add a thin layer of foam to the top and bottom of each arm under the top and bottom boards- to reduce vibration to all the electronics
-Change the gyro mounting- I like the idea of hard drive mounting grommets top and bottom (I only have enough for bottom)
We are still experimenting with props and the gain on the KK board. It’s completely new to me and to a lesser extent my brother (as he has been flying helicopters for years). Neither of us has any idea how they should fly, now they should react and how stable they should be. It’s all new ground and a steep learning curve.

Hairy flight with the sun in my eyes (I'm over there on the stone platform) but it all went very well. I intend to upgrade the quadcopter with a small transmitter so I can more precisely frame the shots.

I returned to the same lake to give the GoPro a try at a sunsetting scene. Another photographer was also shooting. She didn't give me an inch of space to compose my still shots. I kept flying my phantom quadcopter into her scene. Ok.... enough of watching her. I'd better pay attention to where my copter is going. Anyway my last landing was not as comfortable as the first one. I landed about a half foot away from the water. Talk about a close and uncomfortable call.
I was out flying the quadcopter yesterday hoping to fly around Llanfihangel y Penant which I've shot at before.
Alas when we got there there was some event and I didn't fly so stopped off at Cwm Pennant and flew around there for a while, took this single frame from the 4K video I shot using the gopro.
My vision of the future.
I started with the quadcopter, and once I finalized the design I made a car to fit the scale and then found a house.

Quadcopter.
The Quadcopter can be used to transport heavy container units.
It's equipped with four propellers and two engines, radar dish, drill, a small crane and a speeder.
The cabin and engines can be disconnected from the Quadcopter body. The engines and cabin can be connected to each other for travelling trough narrow caves. It can carry container units from the Modular Mining Unit.
On September 17th 2059, infamous bandit Ivy Cash robbed the Mesa Verde bank in Peralta, NM. As usual, she shook off any pursuers – man and drone – to disappear in the desert she knew so well. Since that day, nobody ever heard of her. Until today.
Behind the scenes:
The character of Ivy Cash started off as a female heroine my wife made with parts from build-a-minifig at the local LEGO store. Her radiant take-no-cr**, give-no-sh** attitude intrigued me … and to no one’s surprise she became a gangster. The southern theme developed as a nod to the Breaking bad/Better Call Saul franchise; avid fans might even pick up one or two easter eggs in the description. There is one MOC about her that I made a while ago (flic.kr/s/aHsme9QY8Y), and this new one represents the ending I feel her story deserves; I hope that there will be more prequels to follow …
I was afraid that the clouds would burn off before the sun had a chance to rise this morning but still I drove towards the lake. No worries as the sunrise colors were magnificent.
I brought the Quadcopter with me again but decided to post that video on You Tube at youtu.be/X5nVFTpuXWY. If it hasn't uploaded by the time that you check out this post, come back soon.

When the police rang up to ask if they could practice with their new drone I was expecting something somewhat larger. It's only about 14/15 inches across, it has a cruise speed of about 35 knots and flies for 45/50 minutes. All controlled by something similar to an Ipad. The camera will read a number plate from 1/2 a mile or so.
After a few weeks of practice finally got an SD card to record flights. Bit windy today and that makes it really difficult to control. Hopefully the next video will be more interesting. (And stable.)
A workmates " HMF - U580" is a big bird .
This has a GPS system altitude hold . along with a FPV (first person View) camera .
Spec's are 580 mm diagonal size motor to motor and it is equipped with 15 inch Carbon fibre Props .
As seen in the video this also has retracting undercarriage so the landing legs do not show on the onboard recording camera .

Sunday I flew my quad from Allendale Field southward over the industrial property there.
We also noted there is a for sale sign on the Allendale Field property which we have not seen here before.
Yay. Inspired by the one used in Ghost Recon: Alpha (hence the "webcam" thingy).
It is compatible to Lego elements in multiple ways:
- The frame around the propeller blades is 3 mm thick and therefor gripable by Minifigs.
- The stud on top is the size of a Lego stud, to allow extra accessories on top.
- The bottom has a hole that fits over a Lego stud. This is where the camera assembly is placed, but you can build your own accessories as well!
- The camera assembly includes a clamp, able to grip anything a Minifig can hold
- Throughout the Drone runs a 3mm wide hole for a Lego bar.
- Finally, the camera assembly has a stud on top (obviously) and the propeller assembly fits on a stud (obviously²). The little "engines" might be grippable as well. (It's 3mm at the top, but as it's a cone, it might be as gripable as the tactical lamps for the Clone Troopers.)

This photo was taken with my new GoPro Hero3+ Camera. Pictured is the Phantom Quaddcopter. I tried to get the copter to lift off just a couple of feet in the house but it did not move. Guess I'm going to have to go back to the instruction manual and figure out what I've done wrong. As you can see the camera is working fine. I can hardly wait to see the landscapes that this new perspective is going to allow me to capture.
When I got to school this morning the sun was just perfect, the wind was right for the flags, I was early with plenty of time, so off into the wild blue yonder with my Phantom for a sunrise shot. After a few minutes in the cold with no gloves I realized my fingers were getting very numb, almost too numb to land the thing. Why don't I ever think of stuffing my gloves in the camera bag?

Sad tale of slight miscalculation of increasing height.
My first drone or quadcopter as an expensive reminder of the consequences of not paying attention. Unfortunately the drone cannot be retrieved without major effort!.
