Jon Bowers' Bluebell charter with Maunsel Q 30541, guard, driver and fireman discuss operations prior to departure
Q Class No. 30541 climbs up Freshfield Bank with a service for Horsted Keynes formed of three Bulleid coaches.
A recent addition at the Bluebell has seen the return of Manusell Q Class No. 30541 to the fleet. Its pictured here at Sheffield Park MPD along with "Captain Baxter" at the rear of the loco.
Its had a few teething problems in the past couple of weeks but fingers crossed they've now been sorted and I look forward to seeing this loco working properly very soon!
Double Q class locos Q307,Q304 are stabled in the Kalgoorlie loco on 6-3-1999. Later in the evening these locos will work the Kalgoorlie to Perth freight
Maunsell Q Class with the 4:05 from Sheffield Park climbs Freshfield Bank, its exhaust bark carrying on the wind, rounding Freshfield Curve and passing the camera.
Powering southwards out of Loughborough Central, Southern Railway Maunsell Q Class no. 30541, visiting the GCR from the Bluebell Railway, leads fellow SR loco no. 777 "Sir Lamiel", the sole surviving N15 "King Arthur" Class loco, on 2A07, the 09:00 from L'boro C to Leicester North; 30541 would detach at Rothley.
4th January 2016. Q class 30541 on a goods train at the Bluebell Railway. Despite a trek through some badly waterlogged fields and standing in a heavy downpour we were rewarded with a few breaks of good light.

An old Q class hoper wagon sits on the old Greymouth wharf as a reminder of what once was as coal trains from the west coast mines would arrive on a daily basis at the Greymouth port with Q class hoper wagons fully loaded with good west coast coal from coal mines like Rewanui to be loaded on to ships destined for Australia and Europe.

A common sight it country Victoria where the installation of flashing lights and boom barriers would be too expensive, so the responsibility for looking and stopping for an approaching train falls back to the driver

On 18 May 2018, the last train from Sheffield Park (16.30 departure) to East Grinstead is seen heading north from Horsted Keynes station. This view is, as far as I am concerned, a stereotypical BR (SR) working and features the 1939 built, Maunsell designed 'Q' Class, numbered 30541, absolutely delightful!
This is former Great Northern Railway Q class steam engine numbered 131 which is now operated by the RPSI in Ireland.
A brilliant day with the Q class, a sharp frost in the morning with a bright sunrise. The sun returned late afternoon.

1st Feb 2017 Q class 30541 dressed as 30543 on the Great Central Railway. A wet damp morning on open wagons but a good afternoon with the minerals as the 'Windcutters'.

The GT46C is a model of diesel electric locomotive designed and built by Clyde Engineering using Electro-Motive Diesel components. Entering service from 1997 for a number of Australian rail freight operators, those built for Westrail are known as the Q class.
