A guest loco at the GCR's Winter Gala, SR class Q no 30541 stayed on to run services the following weekend and for two photo-charters. The first, on 31 January, was run by Timeline events: www.timelineevents.org/.

Topping up the tender at Loughborough. We also took coal to ensure there would be a good supply for the following morning's crew.

As the setting sun catches the wave of clouds sweeping over the eastern part of GCR, the popular Southern Railway Maunsell Q Class 0-6-0 loco, no. 30541, steams away from Quorn & Woodhouse with 2A37, the 16:00 from Loughborough Central to Leicester North.

Leaving Loughborough with a nice rake of fully-fitted vans. We did several exits from here; then went to Quorn to do some 'entry' runs; then took the vans back to Swithland; and then went LE to Loughborough where we coupled to a BR suburban brake for a photoshoot in platform 2.
The latest return to the mainline, GNR Q-Class 131 sits in the shed at Whitehead. While excellent to see a loco that had been stuffed and mounted since 1963 back in use, questions have been raised about performance of the loco, certainly for Dublin operations
