The Pyramids of Giza

+ Cthulhu

Types of Pyramids is a polyhedron with a polygonal base and triangles for sides. A pyramid is named by the shape of its base. The faces of pyramid are mostly isosceles triangle. The red color square shaped box of the pyramid is known as the base of the pyramid.Slant height - The distance between the vertex and one of the bases of polygon.

These kids traveled through time to visit the ancient Egyptian period. They built pyramids, played games and got "mummified."

The Pyramid of Khufu or Cheops was constructed between 2580 and 2560 BCE. It is the largest pyramid in the world and was the tallest manmade structure for 3800 years.

Indicated by the red square above is the location of this pyramid shape, closer examination of the shape I found a tube like structure coming from underneath the ground elevation and up one of the sides of the pyramid, it stops about half way up and the tube terminates with a door that is partially open, from there continuing up the pyramid along the same vertical axes is a ramp attached to the pyramid continuing upwards until it reaches the edge.

The Great Pyramid

The Pyramid of Khafre, also known as the Pyramid of Chefren,[1] is the second-largest of the Ancient Egyptian Pyramids of Giza and the tomb of the fourth-dynasty pharaoh Khafre

Constructed in 2570 BCE. The section on top is part of the original sheathing. The pyramids were covered in a smooth layer of granite or high quality limestone which made the pyramid shine in the sunlight.

Giza 從東北到西南排列著三座大金字塔 Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), Pyramid of Khafre (Chephren) 和 Pyramid of Menkaure (Mycerinus),分別是古王國時期 Khufu (2551-2528 BC)、Khafre (2520 - 2494 BC) 和 Menkaure (2490 - 2472 BC) 王所建。

The Pyramid of Khufu

次高的 The Pyramid of Khafre 原高 143.5 米,現高 136.5 米;邊長 215 米。

This is Maya - the pyramid puppy.

On my recent holiday to Mexico we went to Peralta to see the Mayan Pyramids, and as we walked in I saw this beautiful little homeless dog. When we were leaving it broke my heart knowing she was still there, so I gave her some water and promised I her I would get her out of there. We left for home the next day, and it was then I contacted an animal rescue centre in Guanajuato, Mexico to see if they could help her.

Thankgod I did, because even with extremely limited resources and money, a wonderful lady called Sandra Ward travelled for miles to rescue her. She has now been spayed, vaccinated and has been put on the Mex-can website to find a loving new home in Canada.

I would just like to thank Sandra and the Amigos de los Animales in Guanajuato, Mexico for really going that extra mile to help save Maya and give her a new life.

Amigos de los Animales save many many dogs and cats from a horrible, traumatic life off the streets in Mexico.

They do this with extremely limited resources and money, and I would like to ask if you could make a donation to them, so they can continue their work and save many many more from a life of hell.

Thanks for taking the time to read Maya's story.

PS: I am now very very happy to say Maya has now got a new home in Canada, and will hopefully be very much loved and cared for :)

Teotihuacan - 19th July 2018 Mexico

The Pyramid of the Sun is the largest building in Teotihuacan, believed to have been constructed about 200 CE,[6] and one of the largest in Mesoamerica. Found along the Avenue of the Dead, in between the Pyramid of the Moon and the Ciudadela, and in the shadow of the massive mountain Cerro Gordo, the pyramid is part of a large complex in the heart of the city.

The name Pyramid of the Sun comes from the Aztecs, who visited the city of Teotihuacan centuries after it was abandoned; the name given to the pyramid by the Teotihuacanos is unknown. It was constructed in two phases. The first construction stage, around 100 CE, brought the pyramid to nearly the size it is today. The second round of construction resulted in its completed size of 224.942 meters (738 feet) across and 75 meters (246 feet) high,[clarification needed] making it the third largest pyramid in the world,[7] though still just over half the height of the Great Pyramid of Giza (146 metres). The second phase also saw the construction of an altar atop of the pyramid which has not survived into modern times. The Adosada platform was added to the pyramid in the early third century, at around the same time that the Ciudadela and the Temple of the Feathered Serpent were constructed.

Over the structure the ancient Teotihuacanos finished their pyramid with lime plaster imported from surrounding areas, on which they painted brilliantly colored murals. While the pyramid has endured for centuries, the paint and plaster have not and are no longer visible. Jaguar heads and paws, stars, and snake rattles are among the few images associated with the pyramids.

It is thought that the pyramid venerated a deity within Teotihuacan society, however, little evidence exists to support this hypothesis. The destruction of the temple on top of the pyramid, by both deliberate and natural forces prior to the archaeological study of the site, has so far prevented identification of the pyramid with any particular deity.

Pyramids of Güímar . Tenerife.

VIDEO OF THE PARK ON YOU TUBE

Mysterious and controversial, but still worth a visit, especially for the very nice garden next to it, the great documentary about adventurer Thor Heyerdahl and his travels and the Rapa Nui exhibition.

The site is very well maintained and organized, but they emphasize a little too much on the Thor Heyerdahl theory, ignoring pretty much all other theories about the origins of the Pyramids.

From Wikipedia.

The Pyramids of Güímar refer to six rectangular pyramid-shaped, terraced structures, built from lava stone without the use of mortar. They are located in the district of Chacona, part of the town of Güímar on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. There are claims that the structures have been dated to the 19th century and their original function explained as a byproduct of contemporary agricultural techniques. However, results of excavations have so far proved inconclusive.

Other pyramids employing the same methods and materials of construction can be found in various sites on Tenerife. In Güímar itself there were nine pyramids, only six of which survive.

Bass Fishing at Lake Pyramid in Southern California.

Ben and I really nailed the fish this day. We caught about 49 bass and 1 trout. We were drop shotting roboworms in the early morning, but then about 8:30 we decided to try a senko, which the bass just jumped all over. I even got our one trout on a four inch smoke purple flake senko. It didn't seem like the color of the bait even mattered on this day, they just chewed the heck outta the senkos.

A letter from Jim and Hal, the men from the blue boat in the photos and good friends from our Bass Fishing club, the Southern California Bassmasters:

Ben and Charlie:

This is to let you know how thankful we are. After you pointed out Spanish Pt. and hinted "Round Rocks", we actually went there and made hard attempts to find that particular location. After many tries, we think we found it. We did not leave that spot till the guard chased us out.

The red Senko worked too. Wacky style or otherwise. We caught like 10 bass there. Jim actually got one over 3-1/2 pounds (All fishermen lie. But still a shame he would not win the $3.00).

Thanks again. We surely appreciate tips that work.

Jim and Hal

P.S. With all good looking spots around there, why would one choose that particular spot with bathers not too far and picnic tables and attractive ripraps nearby? noisy traffic? why the color red? Senko? Why would one not find that spot while examining the map? This is what we call 'fishing'.

I think I found a new pyramid on top of the dolomites
