This paper ticket is for a single ride on the Pyongang Metro. At 5 won (approximately 3 US cents) its cost is close to nothing. Passengers with individual tickets do not use the turnstiles buit instead drop their ticket into a collection bin watched by an agent.
While accompanied tourists travel for free, my guide was kind enough to acquire a ticket for me anyway :)

The Juche Tower (officially the Tower of the Juche Idea) is a monument in Pyongyang, North Korea. The tower is named after the principle of Juche, developed by Kim Il Sung as a blend of autarky, self-reliance, nationalism, Korean traditionalism, and Marxism-Leninism.
Completed in 1982, it is sited on the eastern bank of the River Taedong, directly opposite Kim Il Sung Square which is situated on the other side of the river. It was made to commemorate Kim Il Sung's 70th birthday.
The 170-metre (560 ft) structure is a four sided tapering 150-metre (490 ft) spire (the tallest in granite) containing 25,550 blocks (365 × 70, one for each day of Kim Il Sung's life, excluding supplementary days), dressed in white stone with seventy dividers and capped with a 20-metre (66 ft) high, 45 ton, illuminated metal torch.

The Taedong River promenade was redesigned two years ago. Sadly, most of the old trees were cut down. To fill the empty space, some sculptures were installed.

Older houses are still heated with briquettes known as 구멍탄 (in the South, they were known as 연탄). Residents are supplied with a fixed amount of coal dust from which they prepare their briquettes with hand-operated presses. This might seem a bit primitive but it is probably far better than living in a "modern" block of apartments in Tongil or Kwangbok Street where the central heating stopped functioning long ago.

In lieu of traffic lights, Pyongyang has its iconic Traffic Lady at every major intersection. Like American airline stewardesses in the 50s & 60s, being a Traffic Lady is considered to be one of the capital's more glamorous jobs for young ladies who would rather not toil away at backbreaking labor in the factories and fields

Opened in 1992. Like most major construction projects in North Korea, it was built by soldiers, mainly by hand. In the past two years, several villages along the motorway were demolished. There used to be a village on the right but it has disappeared as well.
