It is 20–25 cm (7.9–9.8 in) in length with a wingspan of 20–25 cm (7.9–9.8 in). These birds live in fruit plantations, gardens, and cities. It is the most common member of the bulbul family in Israel and Lebanon.

The Yellow-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier) is a member of the bulbul family of passerine birds. It is resident breeder in southeast Asia from southern Thailand and Cambodia south to Borneo and the Philippines.
It is found in a wide variety of open habitats, but not deep forest. It is one of the most common birds in cultivated areas. They appear to be nomadic, roaming from place to place regularly.
The Yellow-vented Bulbul builds a well-camouflaged but fragile, loose, deep, cup-shaped nest from grass, leaves, roots, vine stems, and twigs. The nest is untidy on the outside, but it is neatly lined with plant fibers. It may be built in a wide range of places from low bushes to high trees. This is a species adapted to humans and may even nest in gardens. The Yellow-vented Bulbul lays 2-5 eggs in February to June.
The Yellow-vented Bulbuls eats berries and small fruits. They also sip nectar, nibble on young shoots, and take some insects.

The White-eared Bulbul, Pycnonotus leucotis is a member of the bulbul family. It is found in southern Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and north-western India, parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh. The species was earlier considered a conspecific of Pycnonotus leucogenys.
This species is very similar in appearance to the Himalayan White-cheeked Bulbul Pycnonotus leucogenys but smaller and uncrested and with a larger white cheek patch. It has a pale bare eye-ring. The vent is orange yellow. Sexes are alike.
It is found in scrub forest and gardenland. Also found in flocks or pairs in the magroves, gorging on the fruits of the Meswak bush. Usually seen in pairs or small groups. It feeds on fruits and insects, and breeds in March-June.

Family : Pycnonotidae (鵯科). Length: 22 cm.
前額至頭頂黑色,頭頂具高聳的黑色羽冠,眼後下方有一深紅色羽簇,形成一紅斑;耳羽和頰白色,緊連於紅斑下方。後頸、背至尾上覆羽等其餘上體棕褐色或土褐色,有的標本具棕紅色羽緣。嗜食果實及其其它植物性食物和害蟲,對農林業益害參半;鳥羽毛鮮麗,用嘴在樹枝間啄食,有時也在飛行中捕捉飛蟲。繁殖期4-8月間,期間甚爲活躍,常站在樹梢高聲鳴叫,或雌雄鳥在樹冠與花叢間相互追逐、飛舞和嬉戲。通常營巢於灌叢、竹叢和果樹等低矮樹上,巢多置於灌木或竹叢枝權間,也見在香蕉林和香蕉葉柄處營巢。
分布於中國西藏東南部、雲南南部、貴州南部、廣西西南部、廣東,以及印度、尼泊爾、錫金、不丹、孟加拉國和中南半島等地。
The Red-whiskered Bulbul (Pycnonotus jocosus) is a passerine bird found in Asia. It is a member of the bulbul family. It is a resident frugivore found mainly in tropical Asia. It has been introduced in many tropical areas of the world where populations have established themselves. It feeds on fruits and small insects and they conspicuously perch on trees and their calls are a loud three or four note call. The distinctive crest and the red-vent and whiskers makes them easy to identify. They are very common in hill forests and urban gardens within its range.

One of the pair of Pycnonotus goiavier (Yellow-vented Bulbul) checking and testing their newly-built nest. Heart-breaking though when we discovered that the female had failed to deposit its egg into the nest which had instead fallen outside and broken onto a pot located below the tree.

Mommy and Daddy are busy feeding their chicks. Babies’ diet is very rich; for sure it’s full of exotics delicatessens. Hmmm… spider again!
