The Zaner-Bloser Handwriting Script has been the standard for generations of children learning to write! And it goes like this...a combination of these steps: slide, slant, lift, circle back all the way around, push up straight, and pull down straight.

For the Macro Mondays group, on the subject of Push/Pull. The shutter release (push) and film advance (pull) of my Zeiss Ikon Contina - a sweet little 35mm camera, with a really quiet shutter...

Sicilian Horse Carts

A living tradition

The cart creator's art is almost a lost one, kept alive by the diligence and dedication of just a few talented craftsmen --at once carpenters, ironsmiths and artists.

The Sicilian horse cart.

In these colourful panels, Sicilian kings and knights stride alongside legends like Roland - the Italians' Orlando. Normans fight Moors and Sicilians combat Angevins.

History comes alive.

In centuries past, these works of art were everywhere in Sicily. The few that remain, and the few which are created each year, seem to represent more than another era. They symbolise a way of life, and the fact that Sicily's unique medieval history has never been far from the popular mind. A few antique carts can be seen, and new ones purchased, in the Sicilian Cart Museum behind the apse of Palermo Cathedral.

The Sicilian Horse Carts can be pulled by a donkey or a horse. And if the donkey or horse chooses to stop moving, I suppose a human could push the cart and donkey. :)

Thanks for all of your comments, faves, and invites. I appreciate them!

#Macro #MacroMondays #PushPull

“It was a bright and clear Macro Monday morning… Along the horizon, the sharp peaks of the Pruning Saw stood crystal-clear in the distance. Before them, the serrated teeth of the Bread Knife undulated like bright steely waves. Behind them, the impressive summits of the Hacksaw glistened in the distance. As I gazed upon them with awe, I reflected that I would much rather photograph these peaks than push and pull the tools for which they were named as my ancestors laboriously did all day…”

Photoshoot is done, home I go, can't resist to take quick shot back against the fading light and the silhouettes of the trees and the hunting stand on the hill.

Not sure what influence / effect of doing it on the IR spectrum had here (compared to a regular image); I mean for black & white. But I did some experimental developments too, where the sky turned out super orange and glow-y; with that it certainly paid off.

Was kind of conflicted which one to share. I still am actually.. 😮 😭

Do you wanna see it?

And by the way: This was done with the arguably "worst NIKKOR ever made", according to some. Granted, this is the third iteration, the AI version which doesn't seem to compare to the earlier Auto, C or K versions (all pre-AI). I think it's great performer, with visible light, but also on the near IR spectrum where it surprisingly peaks at a rather small aperture, f/11, which is no problem since there is hardly any hotspot to be found and also makes for a larger DOF, ..so very nice for landscape.
