À la fin du XIXe siècle, les dames de la Belle Époque venaient boire un thé ou manger dans le socle d'un majestueux bateau de pêche, perché à un peu plus de six mètres au-dessus des eaux. Avec son kiosque typique, il devint alors l'une des escales les plus prisées des Niçois et des touristes.
En 1941, le bateau de pêche ayant subi des dommages, l'architecte René Livieri et son client décidèrent d'offrir une nouvelle vie à ce lieu en donnant naissance au Plongeoir. Grâce à Livieri, trois plates-formes somptueuses, dans le plus pur style Art déco, se dressèrent alors face à la Grande Bleue, permettant aux jeunes de s'exercer au plongeon.

On a May morning, the sun rises near Cancale in Brittany, France. The sunrise paints its sky colors on the water. Tranquility at its purest. Only the water sloshes around the oyster and seaweed farms on the mudflats.
Only ten minutes later, the magic is gone, the colors of the sunrise have faded into a glistening white. The first tractors with trailers roar noisily through the mud of the low tide. The Oyster farmers take advantage of the receding water to work in the oyster beds.

Also known as the “Blue Lake”, Lake Annecy (French: Lac d'Annecy), at the heart of the Savoy Alps, takes pride in being one of the cleanest and purest lakes in the world because of strict environmental regulations introduced in the 1960s.
It is the third largest lake in France, after the Lac du Bourget and Lac de Grand-Lieu, if the French part of Lake Geneva (which is also partly in Switzerland) is excluded.
Lake Annecy was formed 18,000 years ago, when large alpine glaciers melted. It owes its reputation to its extraordinary location, which has been the inspiration of many artists. The impressionist painter Paul Cézanne (1839-1906), inspired by the light that bathes the site and is reflected in the turquoise water, immortalised the lake with his renowned oil painting, Le Lac bleu (the Blue Lake) in 1896.

The church at Salagon priory in Mane was built during the eleventh century from local limestone. It has all the hallmarks of Provençal Romanesque style, containing Corinthian-style columns decorated with acanthus leaves, as well as sculpted panels depicting people and animals. It also has a fifteenth-century wall painting which is the only surviving example of its type from this period.
The interior of the church is illuminated by six stained glass windows from the artist Aurélie Nemours. Australia has some pretty nice beaches, but it's hard to go past the Maldives for sheer paradisial bliss. I'm escaping our winter cold by imagining I'm back there. So, as a public service announcement, here's how it goes:
You have had a hard day relaxing on beaches of the purest white sand, swimming in crystal clear oceans waters of the most beautiful blues and greens, watching clouds float past and imagining what you see in them (I usually see animals, real & mythological, particularly dragons) , eating in sand-floored open-air restaurants where thongs (known as flip-flops in other parts of the world) are considered formal wear. Yet, after all that hard work. you are still expected to walk all the way out on the walkway to reach your villa sitting above the Indian Ocean. Luckily you only need enough energy to roll over the edge to be floating in the warm waters of the inner reef. But if that's too hard, your own little private pool on your villa deck is closer, and bonus - you can leave your cocktail within reach.
Just thought I'd warn you of the hard work involved if you were ever considering a trip to the Maldives. You are welcome :)

Such is the good advice I gave to this beautiful caterpillar … ah, but he is much wiser than me! He understands his place in the world. There is nothing I can further teach him other than confirm his suspicions that I am a silly creature … ; 0)) He told me that the female moth of his species does not fly at all and they only eat during this stage of their development. Their time is short and their purpose is to procreate. I discovered that they are considered a pest to cultivated gardens so I am very happy that they found their way to my wildlife garden in their droves. Here they are safe and free to do their own thing and ensure the survival of their species. It is moments such as this when I feel most at one with the world …

The Main Chapel of the Basilica Santa Croce is inspired by the purest Gothic architecture, with a strong vertical thrust, underlined by the umbrella ribs of the vault and the extremely long and narrow mullioned windows with two lights. The frescoes that decorate it are the Stories of the Invention of the True Cross, a tribute to the name of the church, painted by Agnolo Gaddi around 1380.
