A few nights ago, Ruby and I had been seeing friends in our local pub, and afterwards we decided we were hungry. I fancied a cheeseburger and Ruby had a hankering for some chicken nuggets, and so we hopped on a bus heading towards the Burger shack with the plan of walking through the park to get back home.
I bipped my oyster card and we settled down on a seat by the stairs with my faithful pup snuggled against my legs out of the way of other passengers.
Other people were still getting on the bus when suddenly the driver shouted at me to take the dog upstairs. I replied that due to my arthritis I wasn't able to climb the stairs whereupon he told me to get off the bus.
Now I know that the law is that dogs are allowed on the lower deck at the discretion of the driver, but also on the lower deck was a man with a Westie, which had been there when we got on, so I asked 'why us and not the other dog?'
He had no answer to that, just again shouted rudely at me to get off the bus.
I replied that I would do no such thing unless the other man and dog were made to do the same.
He continued to shout at me, while a friend of mine and Ruby's alighted the bus and she told him that Ruby was a very quiet, gentle dog, and seriously, what was his problem?
At that point the driver got out of his compartment and was just about to walk up to me and Ruby when a wonderful woman marched up to him and said 'Listen driver, sit down and do your job! You're the only one causing a problem here and you're the reason all of us are being held up while we wait for you, so again, just sit down and do your job or I'm going to report you as well!'.
That did the trick. I thanked her and off we went, writing down the driver's number before we got off again.
I don;t know whether he didn't like me, Ruby, women, blondes, red dogs or what, but he's going to have to come up with a reason for disriminating against us pretty soon as I put in a complaint that same night.
I don't wish him any luck whatsoever!

This wolf pup lived over 50,000 years ago. When it died, its body was preserved in the permanently frozen ground of the Yukon. This is why, over 50,000 years later, we can still see its fur. It is one of a number of exceptional relics from the last ice age on display at the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Right in the middle of all those goldfish shops was this store with pups for sale. I snapped two pics from outside the store and entered the shop for a look around. Seconds later, the woman shop assistant pointed at my camera and said, 'no photo'. I smiled and complied, I'd got my pic already. I'd seen similar shops with pups for sale in Causeway Bay as well on my 2002 visit, but this time, they seem to have given up on pups and were selling live cats. Jan/ Feb. 2012.

The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society Legislative Fund commend federal lawmakers for introducing bills that will crack down on abusive puppy mills in the United States — where dogs are commonly housed in overcrowded, filthy, and inhumane conditions. The legislation will close a loophole in the Animal Welfare Act that currently allows large, commercial breeders who sell puppies online and directly to the public to escape licensing and regulation.
The legislation — known as the PUPS Act, for "Puppy Uniform Protection Statute"— was introduced in the Senate today by Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Ill., and Sen. David Vitter, R-La. A companion bill is expected to be introduced shortly in the House of Representatives, as well, by Reps. Sam Farr, D-Calif., Jim Gerlach, R-Pa., Lois Capps, D-Calif., and Bill Young, R-Fla.
The bills also require that dogs used for breeding be provided daily exercise. Breeding dogs in puppy mills are typically forced to live their entire lives in small cages with no opportunity for exercise, little or no socialization, and minimal human interaction.

This pup was found near Blue Hill Maine. It was a very early pup (End of April) and severely dehydrated. It was found on the shore and watched for several hours to make sure its mother didn't return to get it. Then it was rescued by Rosie Seton from Allied Whale and taken to Marine Animal Lifeline for rehabilitation. I think its number is 079. You can check on its progress if you go to their website.

This is an assigned New York State license plate on a super black Nissan Rogue. This car was parked in the Wenco Plaza parking lot in Carmel, NY.
New Zealand Fur Seal pup seen at the Ohau Falls near Kaikoura.
The Ohau Falls is a 10-ish minutes easy walk alongside the Ohau Stream about 30 kms. north of Kaikoura on SH1. Seal pups splish-splosh their way upstream in wintertime to use the area as a day nursery while their mothers are out fishing.

This curious little seal pup was hiding behind the rock until it heard our boat passing - it's head popped up for a quick look before it went back to sleep again, cuddled up beside it's mum.

I slammed on the breaks when I saw this dog sitting on the sidewalk......According to the sign underneith this dog named "Pup" was run over by a truck, shot by a shotgun, poisoned, and survived heart worms......Only to die of kidney failure in 1994....It says that Pup was perserved so others could look into his eyes.....The man working here was very helpful and moved Pup out into the sun so I could photograph her better.....
