The endless swathes of imperial Scots Pine.
Exquisite, calm waters of Loch Beinn á Mheadhoin and Affric,
convoluted by dips, hollows, bays and enchanting fresh-water islands.
Lofty, imposing peaks of Càrn Eighe, Màm Sodhail and Sgùrr na Lapaich, often snow-capped, well into April, and even May.
A glen of pulsating life.
From Wood-Ants and Dragon-Fly
to Salmon and Trout.
From Red Deer and Golden Eagle
to Wood-Cock and Wildcat.
Iconic, momentous, overwhelming, breath-taking in early morning mists, under winter snow or in colourful Autumn garb.
In Spring when Broom and Gorse smother slopes in dazzling yellow flower to Summer when green dominates and life buzzes with a frenzy.
As here, in Autumn, when the sun falls earlier behind the West Coast peaks, the tranquil, golden reflections of peaks, forest and island create a sumptuous vision of utter peace, serenity and prodigious beauty.
Beyond doubt, this glen has a mystical magic beyond my powers of description.
If you ever go there, and catch it in a more convivial mood,
you will never forget it, never regret it
and you will surely return.
It really is a little bit of heaven……paradise.
I know nowhere quite like it.
Once smitten, the love affair
is likely to be eternal!
Late Autumn In Venice
(After Rilke)
The city floats no longer like a bait
To hook the nimble darting summer days.
The glazed and brittle palaces pulsate and radiate
And glitter. Summer's garden sways,
A heap of marionettes hanging down and dangled,
Leaves tired, torn, turned upside down and strangled:
Until from forest depths, from bony leafless trees
A will wakens: the admiral, lolling long at ease,
Has been commanded, overnight -- suddenly --:
In the first dawn, all galleys put to sea!
Waking then in autumn chill, amid the harbor medley,
The fragrance of pitch, pennants aloft, the butt
Of oars, all sails unfurled, the fleet
Awaits the great wind, radiant and deadly.

On our walk around the lake today, shortly after sunrise, this ripple ring in the ice caught my attention. With its pulsating nature, it looked to me like the heartbeat of the lake. Its action would alternate from a depression to a bulge at which point I captured this image.
The temps have been low enough to allow for some very thin ice to form near the shore. The lake was pretty calm, but the gentle wave action was pushing water under the ice layer which forced small pulses of water up through a hole in the ice layer. The center ring is the actual hole with the current pulse of water. The outer ring is the previous pulse flowing away from the hole.
We were on the shady side of the lake which made the light directional.

This pedestrian street, lined with shops, restaurants, and cafés, pulsates with local life, offering typical Ligurian products. Monterosso stands out from the other villages for having the largest sandy beach in the region and a less pronounced urban layout. The village, whose origins date back to the 7th century and which developed under the influence of the Republic of Genoa, is part of the Cinque Terre National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Via Roma, in addition to its commercial and social importance, reflects the historical heritage of Monterosso, once fortified for coastal defense and a point of contact between neighboring communities, keeping alive the region's maritime and agricultural tradition.
View from Jagger Museum over the Kilauea Crater, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Recent activity on Kilauea, the Halema'uma'u Crater Vent has been blowing out tons of toxic gasses - at times an estimation of over 10 times than normal (USGS updates). At night, lava and superheated gasses light up the toxic cloud spewing from the vent (for perspective, the vent itself is nearly 30m across). At times, the vent could be heard as it literally breathed and pulsated. Depending upon the winds, the effects of this gas cloud could be seen locally and across the islands: from the closing of roads within the park (and the closure of the park itself a few weeks ago), to evacuations of nearby towns, to air quality in and around the Hawaiian Islands, most notably in Kona, where a large amount of 'vog' hovered over the city.
This image was taken around 11pm from the observation deck at Jagger Museum, approximately a 3 minute exposure, the moon lit up the barren landscape and gas plume.

... the only one who listen patiently recitals
of my I'm noted so these are inscriptions

habitually broadcasting certified by seals
destructive edicts of fundamental and genetic

But in my shortage from fading memory of

Gone in 2015. The tower neon was animated bullseye target pulsating out or in, I can't remember. You could see this iconic neon sign for miles on Old Hwy 99 near Fresno. I remember seeing it as a teenager going out or coming into the city in a car at night. Once I spot the sign I knew we were almost home. I do miss those memories.
This had to be it. She could sense it. Since she had left her master at the entrance hall, something hab been calling her. Like a damp humming in her ears, a bitter taste on her tongue, an itch in her fingers. She had followed this strange feeling and as she passed hallway after hallway, grave after grave, prison cell after prison cell, it had been getting stronger. Now, it was almost overwhelming. She stood in a long hall and ahead lay a glowing red portal. This had to be the heart of the temple and she knew what lay ahead. The holocron had to be in there and her trial was about to begin. She approached the portal. It was filled with an almost opaque red mist, which was moving and felt almost alive. It pulsated as she came closer and she could hear a strange whispering in her ears. Slowly, but determined, she stepped into it and the world vanished from her sight.

This NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope image shows the spiral galaxy NGC 3021 which lies about 100 million light-years away in the constellation of Leo Minor (The Little Lion).
Among many other types of stars, this galaxy contains Cepheid variable stars, which can be used work out the distance to the galaxy. These stars pulsate at a rate that is closely related to their intrinsic brightness, so measurements of their rate of pulsation and their observed brightness give astronomers enough information to calculate the distance to the galaxy itself.
Cepheids are also used to calibrate an even brighter distance marker, that can be used over greater distances: Type Ia supernovae. One of these bright exploding stars was observed in NGC 3021, back in 1995.
In addition, the supernova in NGC 3021 was also used to refine the measurement of what is known as the Hubble constant. The value of this constant defines how fast the Universe is expanding and the more accurately we know it the more we can understand about the evolution of the Universe in the past as well as in the future. So, there is much more to this galaxy than just a pretty spiral.

Jellyfish or jellies are softbodied, free-swimming aquatic animals with a gelatinous umbrella-shaped bell and trailing tentacles. The bell can pulsate to acquire propulsion and locomotion. The tentacles may be utilized to capture prey or defend against predators by emitting toxins in a painful sting. Jellyfish species are classified in the subphylum Medusozoa which makes up a major part of the phylum Cnidaria, although not all Medusozoa species are considered to be jellyfish.
Jellyfish are found in every ocean, from the surface to the deep sea. Scyphozoans (the "true jellyfish") are exclusively marine, but some hydrozoans live in freshwater. Large, often colorful, jellyfish are common in coastal zones worldwide. Jellyfish have roamed the seas for at least 500 million years, and possibly 700 million years or more, making them the oldest multi-organ animal.

A silhouetted, rapier-like peninsula piercing the radiant splendour of a pewter-grey sea.
Domed islands capped by the heavenly spokes of a setting-sun.
Timeless beauty.
Silence, but for the distant scream of a gull and the gentle, pulsating whistle of an oyster-catcher.
Sky, rock, sand, light and sea uniquely combine
to produce a glimpse inside heaven’s door.

ENG: In the middle of the pulsating heart of Berlin, on the historic Alexanderplatz, the Berlin TV Tower rises majestically - an architectural masterpiece that has shaped the city's skyline for decades and gives me personally a feeling of home. Built between 1965 and 1969 with visionary engineering skills, the imposing tower rises a proud 368 meters into the sky and captivates around 1.2 million visitors from all over the world every year with its incomparable aura. My picture captures a fleeting moment of silence on the way to work, taken on a cool February morning when the city is still in a deep slumber. Shortly after 5 a.m., as the first rays of dawn light up the horizon, the imposing silhouette of the television tower stands out against the gentle backdrop of the awakening sky. A sight that makes time stand still and transports the viewer into a dream world.

X34 route is still in the system of First Manchester's Vantage 39251 (BW65DCE). Not the best shot of the desty granted but it kept pulsating on my other shots and missing big chunks out.... :/
Walking back from the lake to the tent after hours of shooting aurora in the dead of night, I felt quite exhausted. However, I couldn't resist grabbing this shot as those fascinating lights started pulsating again. I remember thinking to myself, "Just one last shot", which of course turned into several.. The morale of this story? When you're in the arctic circle and are lucky to have clear nights, sleep can wait.
High water made my usual paths very scenic, creating attractive new vistas. It's one of these. Pulsating rhythm of low and high water shapes the land in lower Vistula valley and is a core part of the landscape. Especially in the maze of oxbow lakes the only thing that doesn't change is the change itself, everyting is very much alive even when it seems still.

The Bird of Paradise is a member of the Banana Family and known botanically as Strelitzia geinae. It is one of the most exotic and easiest to grow of all pot plants. Mature plants send up stalks topped with fascinating birdlike flowers that combine colours of wild golden orange and peaock blue; these are borne out of green bracts edged with dark red. Quite a vividly wild colour combination but I'm trying my best to make them appear subdued. However, parts of the coloration is very subtle and I feel that this is a very organic flower with everything about it pulsating with life! The details in the flower are phenomenal to observe and it just feels moist, fresh and very lush and sensuous. Just take a closer look at the base of the flower and you'll discover the delicate life-lines of this unique blossom.
Chipping Sparrows have got to be one of my favorite backyard birds. I typically only see them during migration and I've been patiently awaiting their return. After a brief visit two days ago I awoke to the pulsating song this morning. I grabbed the camera and got ready to rumble as here was one of my two back/front yard spring migration dream birds (The other being the ever so stunning Rose-breasted Grosbeak). He was foraging on the lawn, mixed in with House and White-throated sparrows. Chipping Sparrows are smaller than most other sparrows in the area, so he wasn't hard to keep track of. He wasn't too fond of the House Sparrows and would frequently give chase to any that got too close.

Covent Garden in central London is ‘hosting’ a unique exhibition of hundreds of thousands of balloons. It is the work of French photographer Charles Petillon, his first outside his own country. The photographer is known for his work with balloons to create eerie images in everyday settings. His aim for this exhibition called Heartbeat is to encourage visitors to view Covent Garden in a different way. “The goal of it is to share with people this installation, to allow people to make their own photo, to have their own point of view. I have mine of course. But I will allow people to share this point of view,” he explained. A team of 25 took a week to inflate each of the 100,000 individually sized balloons weighing a total of 320 kilos. ‘Heartbeat’ stretches 54 metres in length and 12 metres in width and incorporates gentle pulsating white light that illuminates the structure from within and which aims to symbolise a beating heart.
The balloon exhibition is part of an ongoing cultural programme at Covent Garden that has invited artists such as Alex Chinneck, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst and Banksy to create pieces for the area.

Chapter One. He adored New York City. He idolized it all out of proportion. Eh uh, no, make that he, he romanticized it all out of proportion.
Better. To him, no matter what the season was, this was still a town that existed in black and white and pulsated to the great tunes of George Gershwin.
Uh, no, let me start this over.

English:
Once known as Piazza Granda and later as Piazza Benacense. It is the pulsating center of the old town and the new district. The Palazzo Pretorio and the town hall, the tower Apponale and some patrician houses overlook him. The arcades from the Scaliger period, which demarcate the square from the harbor and the lake, once provided space for markets and commerce.

Boracay is a tropical island about an hour's flight from Manila in the Philippines. Its long white sand beaches rival the best beaches of more popular destinations such as the Caribbean, the South Pacific as well as neighbouring Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Facilities are available to suit different levels of activity. For those wanting to just lounge around and take in some rays, beach-front hotels usually have lounge chairs set up just a few steps away from the hotel entrances.
Facilities for the usual water sports activities such as sailing, wind surfing, snorkeling, diving and jet skiing are also widely available for those in search of more active pursuits. The fun in Boracay also doesn't end when the sun sets. Boracay nightlife is pulsating with many bars and restaurants serving food, drink and fun until the very late evening.
There is something quite amazing about a Dragonflies wings and their mastery in flight. It all stems from the powerful flight muscle assembly at the base of the wings. When taking these shots you could actually see the flight muscles pulsating. It was also great fun trying to sneak up behind the Common Darter and take shots like this, because as soon as they realised something was looming over them, then they were off at high speed. This offering is almost an abstract of a Dragonfly, I quite liked it :o)
Fortunately some of the Darters were very trusting, I did find one that just kept coming back, there may be quite a few shots of her at a later date.
I'm hoping for some decent weather this weekend and I hope everyone has a cracking time :o)

on the sun-washed streets of sitges, a stone's throw from the murmuring sea, a colorful character strides by. she's clad in the full regalia of summer—a bathing suit, sunglasses, and the golden buoy of leisure—contrasting the quiet storefront. it's a tale of enduring summer spirits, where the salt-scented air clings to skin and the promise of cool water beckons. the scene is a patchwork of the everyday and the holiday, the mundane and the whimsical. she carries the echo of waves and warmth against the backdrop of a town pulsating with its own unique rhythm, a charming corner where stories and sunlight intersect.

A view of Spasmodic Geyser at Yellowstone National Park. Spasmodic is an apt name for this constantly gurgling, spurting and spitting feature, it never fails to entertain.
A bit more info on this interesting geyser:
Temperature 200°F Interval hours (irregular). Duration minutes to hours. Height 3-15 feet. Dr. A.C.Peale, geologist with the 1878 Hayden survey, named Spasmodic Geyser for its erratic eruptions. This geyser plays from a collection of vents—estimated at 20—centered around two large craters. When Spasmodic is in full eruption water jets from a few inches to several feet high from the numerous vents. The two pools also erupt up to 15 feet high, with intermittent pauses and boiling, pulsating water. Spasmodic and Penta geysers, and possibly Sawmill Geyser, have subterranean connections. When the small, nearby Penta Geyser erupts, all activity in Spasmodic ceases.

A second night of Aurora Australis, and this time I could compose it together with milky way without using fish eye lens or resorting to panorama. And the colour was stronger too, with deep pulsating red on top of green and dancing pillars; albeit for shorter duration (the previous night's aurora at Tekapo lasted long enough for me to do a 400++ images timelapse).
A good compensation for a disappointing sunset earlier. :)
Have a good weekend, my fellow flikcrians!

From the batterseapowerstation.co.uk/whats-on/detail/light-festiva... website, "LAVA’s Digital Origami Tigers started their journey around the world in 2010 to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Sydney, Australia (also occuring 1 February in 2022) and is on display at London’s iconic Battersea Power Station when the next Year of the Tiger begins on 1st February 2022. The digital tigers combine ancient methods of lantern making with cutting-edge design and technology, bringing together east and west. The enormous tigers are made of recycled materials including aluminium and barrisol, whilst pulsating low energy LED lighting brings the sculptures to life. The artwork was adopted by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) to generate attention for their international campaign to save tigers."

as early night descends on the streets of barcelona, the glow of a sushi sign cuts through the dimming light, a beacon for the culinary curious. inside, framed by the window, a sushi chef is an artist in his element, his movements a quiet sonnet against the backdrop of the city's twilight hum. his world is a cocoon of warm light and sharper focus as day gives way to night, where every roll is a meticulous masterpiece, every slice a deliberate delicacy. the neon "sushi" sign, a crimson arch above, watches over his dance of dedication—a harmonious blend of tradition and the pulsating heartbeat of barcelona after dusk.

Zanurzam ręce w ciemność owijam wokół palców milczące
gałęzie. Ptaki śpią. Gwiazdy nie potrafią uskrzydlić
ciężkich chmur. Noc rośnie we mnie - minuty -
czerwone krople tętniącej krwi przebiegają ostrożnie.

I mash my mouth against the down of pillows I strand my hair
the color of dried leaves over the smooth cool bed sheet.
I sink my hands into darkness and I wind around my fingers

night is growing within me - by minutes - the red drops
of pulsating blood skitter by cautiously.

The Kp5 aurora of August 7-8, 2022 in its post sub-storm phase after an appearance of STEVE. The aurora was flickering and pulsating to the north and east at this time. A red pillar appeared for a while at right. At left are dim blue pillars.

The St. Louis River snaked through the heart of Jay Cooke State Park, an untamed beast of water and rock. It gnarled and roared, defying the feeble attempts of man to tame it. Yet, a suspension bridge stood tall, its iron cables pulsating with the strain of holding back the furious river. This bridge, a daring testament to human audacity, became a gateway between realms—the mundane world of asphalt and steel on one side, and the wild, enchanting wilderness on the other.
As I stepped onto that trembling bridge, I could feel the spirit of adventure coursing through my veins. The wooden planks creaked beneath my boots, whispering tales of intrepid souls who had crossed before me. With each step, the wind whipped through my hair, carrying the echoes of long-gone wanderers. The St. Louis River rumbled below, a symphony of untamed power, reminding me of the fragility of my own existence.
In that moment, suspended between reality and the unknown, I found solace. The bridge, a delicate dance of engineering and bravery, united two worlds that were never meant to meet. It was a place where dreams intertwined with nature's whims, and where the spirit of adventure beckoned the weary souls seeking refuge from the banal. This suspension bridge, a defiant thread in the tapestry of chaos, invited us to embrace the untamed, to find ourselves tangled in the sublime beauty of the St. Louis River at Jay Cooke State Park.

This old sign got taken down shortly after I started shooting vintage neon signs like this in 2007. Was a neat looking pulsating bulb sign. Never seen one like it since.
Haven't got the time to get out lately. My recent posts have been from my 2007-2009 photo files.
The NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Telescope has revealed the cloak of dust around the second star, shown at left in red, at the centre of the Southern Ring Nebula for the first time. It is a hot, dense white dwarf star.
As it transformed into a white dwarf, the star periodically ejected mass — the shells of material you see here. As if on repeat, it contracted, heated up, and then, unable to push out more material, pulsated.
At this stage, it should have shed its last layers. So why is the red star still cloaked in dust? Was material transferred from its companion? Researchers will begin to pursue answers soon.
The bluer star at right in this image has also shaped the scene. It helps stir up the ejected material. The disc around the stars is also wobbling, shooting out spirals of gas and dust over long periods of time. This scene is like witnessing a rotating sprinkler that’s finished shooting out material in all directions over thousands of years.
Webb captured this scene in mid-infrared light — most of which can only be observed from space. Mid-infrared light helps researchers detect objects enshrouded in dust, like the red star.
This Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) image also offers an incredible amount of detail, including a cache of distant galaxies in the background. Most of the multi-coloured points of light are galaxies, not stars. Tiny triangles mark the circular edges of stars, including a blue one within the nebula’s red bottom-most edges, while galaxies look like misshapen circles, straight lines, and spirals.
MIRI was contributed by ESA and NASA, and the instrument was designed and built by a consortium of nationally funded European Institutes (The MIRI European Consortium) in partnership with JPL and the University of Arizona.
