I was walking through the pulsating migraine machine known as the long corridor between your gate and the baggage claim at O'Hare when I decided I had to stop and take a pic.
The moving walkways were crammed with people, so I set my camera on my pillow for a tripod, and shot it at a long (1 second +) exposure.
Immediately all pedestrians were erased.

Mirroring the pulsating rhythms and energies of the city, Doug Aitken’s sleepwalkers was a multiscreen cinematic art experience that integrated film projections with the architectural fabric of its environs. Noting that “the city is about communication,” Aitken responded by transforming the concrete, glass, and brick of The Museum of Modern Art’s façade into a fluid mesh of interlacing narratives. While the films suggested an inner life of the buildings, they also reclaimed modern architecture for personal expression and imbued anonymity with fluid human presence.
The film itself depicted the nocturnal journeys of five characters representing city dwellers—a bicycle messenger, an electrician, a postal worker, a businessman, and an office worker. As they moved from the solitude of their personal and professional lives into the chaotic and rich interrelationships of their urban existences, the characters’ individual narratives were juxtaposed on different surfaces of the Museum’s exterior, with moments of parallel synchronicity in their movements emphasizing both the solitude of their lives as well as their membership in the same urban community.
In collaboration with MoMA, the project was the artist’s first large-scale public artwork in the United States and was the first to bring art to the newly renovated museum’s exterior walls.

New York’s Winter Garden has received a mesmerising transformation with 650 pulsating lanterns.
Design firm Rockwell Group suspended colourful light cubes inside the Manhattan atrium, naming the installation 'Luminaries'.
Luminaries is controlled by 'wishing stations' at the base of the sculpture, which allow visitors to control the colour of each cube, while five light shows have also been programmed into the display.
If you’re lucky enough to be in New York, the mesmerising installation will be open until January.
Take a closer look at Luminaries here and tell us what you think of it.

Taken from West Lynn over the Ouse :
For a period of two weeks each year, starting on February 14 Valentines Day, the Tuesday Market Place pulsates with the sound of loud music, screaming youngsters and whirling machines.
Traditionally, this is the first funfair in the Showmen's calendar where new rides are tried out and old favourites brought out from winter storage.
Some of us dread the Mart, as we know it usually brings with it a spell of cold weather. But others look forward to all the fun of the fair, having a go on the side stalls and buying candy floss, rock and all types of other sweeties from the mobile shops.
500 years ago, Lynn had two marts and these were importaint trading fairs which would attract visitors from as far afield as Italy and Germany. Over the years trading fairs became less important and the Mart's nature changed from a trading fair to a funfair. It also became an annual event.

This NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope image shows the planetary nebula NGC 2452, located in the southern constellation of Puppis. The blue haze across the frame is what remains of a star like our Sun after it has depleted all its fuel. When this happens, the core of the star becomes unstable and releases huge numbers of incredibly energetic particles that blow the star's atmosphere away into space. At the centre of this blue cloud lies what remains of the nebula's progenitor star. This cool, dim, and extremely dense star is actually a pulsating white dwarf, meaning that its brightness varies over time as gravity causes waves that pulse throughout the small star's body. NGC 2452 was discovered by Sir John Herschel in 1847. He initially defined it as "an object whose nature I cannot make out. It is certainly not a star, nor a close double star [...] I should call it an oblong planetary nebula". To early observers like Herschel with their smaller telescopes, planetary nebulae resembled gaseous planets, and so were named accordingly. The name has stuck, although modern telescopes like Hubble have made it clear that these objects are not planets at all, but the outer layers of dying stars being thrown off into space. A version of this image was entered into the Hubble's Hidden Treasures image processing competition by contestants Luca Limatola and Budeanu Cosmin Mirel.

The English popular name jellyfish has been in use since 1796.[4] It has traditionally also been applied to other animals sharing a superficial resemblance, for example ctenophores (members from another phylum of common, gelatinous and generally transparent or translucent, free-swimming planktonic carnivores now known as comb jellies) were included as "jellyfishes".[5] Even some scientists include the phylum ctenophora when they are referring to jellyfish.[6] Other scientists prefer to use the more all-encompassing term gelatinous zooplankton, when referring to these, together with other soft-bodied animals in the water column.[7]
As jellyfish are not true fish (which are vertebrates, unlike jellyfish), the word jellyfish is considered by some to be a misnomer. Public aquariums may use the terms jellies or sea jellies instead.[8] The term "jellies" may have become more popular than "jellyfish".[1] In scientific literature, "jelly" and "jellyfish" are often used interchangeably.[9] Some sources may use the term "jelly" to refer to organisms in this taxon, as "jellyfish" may be considered inappropriate.[10]
Many textbooks and sources refer to only scyphozoa as "true jellyfish".[11][12]
A group of jellyfish is sometimes called a bloom or a swarm.[13] "Bloom" is usually used for a large group of jellyfish that gather in a small area, but may also have a time component, referring to seasonal increases, or numbers beyond what was expected.[14] Another collective name for a group of jellyfish is a smack,[15] although this term is not commonly used by scientists who study jellyfish. Jellyfish are "bloomy" by nature of their life cycles, being produced by their benthic polyps usually in the spring when sunshine and plankton increase, so they appear rather suddenly and often in large numbers, even when an ecosystem is in balance.[16] Using "swarm" usually implies some kind of active ability to stay together, which a few species such as Aurelia, the moon jelly, demonstrate.[17]
Medusa jellyfish may be classified as scyphomedusae ("true" jellyfish), stauromedusae (stalked jellyfish), cubomedusae (box jellyfish), or hydromedusae, according to which clade their species belongs.[18]
The term medusa was coined by Linnaeus in 1752, alluding to the tentacled head of Medusa in Greek mythology.[4] This term refers exclusively to the non-polyp life-stage which occurs in many cnidarians, which is typified by a large pulsating gelatinous bell with long trailing tentacles. All medusa-producing species belong to the sub-phylum Medusozoa.
In biology, a medusa (plural: medusae) is a form of cnidarian in which the body is shaped like an umbrella, in contrast with polyps. Medusae vary from bell-shaped to the shape of a thin disk, scarcely convex above and only slightly concave below. The upper or aboral surface is called the exumbrella and the lower surface is called the subumbrella; the mouth is located on the lower surface, which may be partially closed by a membrane extending inward from the margin (called the velum). The digestive cavity consists of the gastrovascular cavity and radiating canals which extend toward the margin; these canals may be simple or branching, and vary in number from few to many. The margin of the disk bears sensory organs and tentacles.
German biologist Ernst Haeckel popularized medusae through his vivid illustrations, particularly in Kunstformen der Natur.

Almost twenty years since shedding the Soviet yoke, Estonia still pulsates with the excitement and adrenaline of a fledgling state - and nowhere more so than in its dynamic capital Tallinn. After centuries of foreign rule, Estonians have finally got control of their country and they're determined to enjoy every minute of it. In fact, with the economy booming, cultural events rife, and a restaurant and nightlife scene that keep going from strength to strength, Tallinners have never had it better! Throw in a UNESCO-listed Old Town, a scattering of Gothic spires, a Medieval castle, Tsar's Palace and a couple of sandy beaches by the Baltic, and it's little wonder that us foreigners want a slice of the action too!
"Chapter One. He adored New York City. He idolized it all out of proportion - er, no, make that: he - he romanticized it all out of proportion. - Yes. - To him, no matter what the season was, this was still a town that existed in black and white and pulsated to the great tunes of George Gershwin. - Er, tsch, no, missed out something.
Chapter One. He was too romantic about Manhattan, as he was about everything else. He thrived on the hustle bustle of the crowds and the traffic. To him, New York meant beautiful women and street-smart guys who seemed to know all the ankles. - No, no, corny, too corny for a man of my taste. Can we ... can we try and make it more profound?
Chapter One. He adored New York City. To him, it was a metaphor for the decay of contemporary culture. The same lack of individual integrity that caused so many people to take the easy way out was rapidly turning the town of his dreams in ... - no, that's a little bit too preachy. I mean, you know, let's face it, I want to sell some books here.
Chapter One. He adored New York City, although to him it was a metaphor for the decay of contemporary culture. How hard it was to exist in a society desensitized by drugs, loud music, television, crime, garbage ... - Too angry. I don't want to be angry.
Chapter One. He was as tough and romantic as the city he loved. Behind his black-rimmed glasses was the coiled sexual power of a jungle cat. - I love this. - New York was his town, and it always would be..."
Opening monologue from movie Manhattan
The Grandiose Speech of Dr. Axiom Nexus (Sarcastic and Mocking)
Scene: A vast, high-tech lair with a glowing, pulsating core in the background. Dr. Axiom Nexis, clad in an elegant exosuit with a faint hum of power, paces slowly around a restrained Agent 002, his voice dripping with mockery.
“Well, well, well… Agent 002. Look at you—bruised, battered, yet still managing to exude that trademark grim determination. Oh, I can see it in your eyes—you’re thinking, ‘This isn’t over.’ Let me save you the trouble: oh, it most definitely is.
Let’s be honest, 002. Did you really think you were going to stop me? Me? I have calculated the probability of success for every scenario—every single one!—and you know what the odds of you winning were? A scintillating 0.00000003 percent. And that’s when I was being generous! Yet here you are, stubbornly clinging to that foolish hope. It’s almost… adorable….and pathetic.
But let me enlighten you, since it’s clear you’re struggling to grasp the entire situation. Behold: the Nexus Core.” (He waves theatrically toward the glowing central structure.) “Beautiful, isn’t it? Capable of controlling every network, system, and device across the globe. And it only needs one final input—my input—to bring humanity’s chaos to an end. You spent your career fighting crime, corruption, and disasters. Don’t you think it’s ironic that I’m about to solve all those problems… permanently?
Oh, but don’t mistake this for altruism, dear Agent. No, no, no. This isn’t about saving the world—it’s about fixing it, and making sure I am in charge when it’s done. Call it a… public service. You should thank me, really. After all, when people look back on history, they won’t even remember your little escapades. They’ll remember me—Dr. Nexus, the man who did what their pathetic governments and so-called heroes could never do.
But you? Oh, you’ll have the privilege of being my footnote, a cautionary tale of what happens to pests who dare challenge brilliance. Think of it this way, Agent: you’ll be remembered. Briefly. In the same way one remembers a fly before it’s swatted.”
(Dr. Nexus leans down to look 002 directly in the eyes, his metallic grin wide and mocking.)
“And now, for the grand finale. I’ve saved the best for last, of course. While you sit there thinking, ‘There must be a way out of this!’ I’ll be flipping the switch that changes the world forever. You’ll get the honor of watching the beginning of a perfect new era. Or, well… maybe just the beginning of the end. We’ll see how long you hold out before the boom.”
(He smirks, straightens up, and adjusts his suit, turning away.)
“Don’t go anywhere, Agent. You wouldn’t want to miss the fireworks. Goodbye, and… do try to die with a little dignity, won’t you?”
(Dr. Nexis steps away, activating the Nexus Core as the room begins to rumble with power. Agent 002 struggles in the shadows, defiant to the last.)
With a dismissive wave, Dr. Nexis leaves the scene, his mocking laughter echoing through the lair.

Another pulsating ending to an important fixture up Westfield Lane. Skem had a player sent off after 10 seconds ! - Frickley go 2-0 up , Skem bravely fight back to equalise in 92nd minute .... but then Frickley go up other end and 'crazy pinball' in the penalty box score a 96th minute winner via Donny on loan player Joe Pugh . Everyone jumps on each other and the place goes nuts ! Moments after the final whistle and the pitch is cleared the Skem management are still sitting in the dugout in disbelief as to what they had just witnessed. Speechless and motionless.
