It is ironic when you try to escape your destiny and in your escape you encounter it. As old as civilization, mankind has always feared this fate: "Is there such a thing called Destiny?" and if the answer is "yes" do we possess the power to change it. In its simplicity this theme becomes epic. From Sophocles to the Wachowski Brothers the "hero" has always tried to be stronger than his destiny. I tried to mix all these epic ancient questions with a dark texture, typical of noir cinema in the first half of XX century.
But in the end, one critical question remains: Would it have really happened if we didn´t know it?
Around 1:00pm yesterday, I received the two copies of INFOMEDIA CITY GUIDE of Jaipur,India. Vol.1 Issue 2 January-2008 Rs.30 edition.

I would like to thank Nasreen Dhariwala of InfoMedia City Guide and to the rest of the publication team for trusting my work to be featured in the front cover of the magazine.
Thank you all and More power to you!!!.

Glad to share the news that two of my photographs got published in May 2008 edition of Better Photography magazine. This was in 'Your Photos' section. Pretty encouraging as an artist to see in print format in a national magazine. Thanks to BP.
Small glitch observed is, my description about the photograph says that I am using Pentax K100D super. However, below that they have written as Canon 350D. Do ever Pentax get recognition in INDIA? :-))

what a great week this has turned out to be and its only wednesday!
i sent in a letter to a photography magazine "practical photography" with a few images attached of some of my macro work with a little tip i found over at the poor mans macro flickr group.
The tip helped me get over the massive amount of frustration you normally get when reversing a lense to take macro shots, they must have thought the same because they gave me the letter of the week and published an image of mine.
oh and i get a £200 camera bag as well!
time to buy a lottery ticket i think

This photograph was published in the Illustrated Chronicle on the 19th of October 1915.
During the Great War the Illustrated Chronicle published photographs of soldiers and sailors from Newcastle and the North East of England, which had been in the news. The photographs were sent in by relatives and give us a glimpse into the past.
The physical collection held by Newcastle Libraries comprises bound volumes of the newspaper from 1910 to 1925. We are keen to find out more about the people in the photographs. If you recognise anyone in the images please comment below.

The Postcard
A postcard that was published by Moore & Wingham, Publishers of High-Class Postcards, 39 East Street, Chichester, Sussex. The artwork was by George Fossick.
The card was posted in Southsea using a 1d. stamp on the 6th. August 1931. It was sent to:
The Rev. Bruce Cornford, M.A.,
Queen's Road,
Waterlooville,
Hants.
The message on the divided back was as follows:
"When paying in some more
money this morning, I enquired
about that odd eight shillings &
sixpence, & was told that it was
interest allowed, so it is all right,
and not a printer's error.
B.L."
The Rev. Bruce Cornford
The Reverend Bruce Cornford was born in 1867.
His clerical career didn’t have the most auspicious of beginnings. Having just been made a Deacon, Cornford was sent to serve his curacy in Portsmouth.
The vicar who was meant to be training him was laid-back, when he wasn’t away on holiday.
After being left alone to run the parish for a prolonged period while the incumbent was on the continent, Cornford finally cracked and, in protest at these regular absences, put his superior’s house on the market.
When the Vicar was glancing over the English newspapers some time later, he happened to notice a sizeable Portsmouth residence up for sale. His interest piqued, he read on, only to realise to his horror that it was his own house that was being flogged to the highest bidder.
The ‘all enquiries to Rev. Bruce Cornford’ part of the advert rather gave the game away – the Vicar cut short his jaunt and Cornford got the sack.
In a 1923 issue of the parish magazine, Bruce made the following comment on the christening of Princess Mary’s baby:
"I should like to make my tiny protest at a solemn
piece of bunkum enacted at the christening of the
Lascelles baby by the Most Rev. the Lord Archbishop
of York.
General Higginson, of the Guards, aged 96, was one
of the sponsors for this child, and the Archbishop thus
solemnly addressed him:
“Ye are to take care that this child be
brought to the Bishop so soon as he
can say the Creed, the Lord s Prayer,
the Ten Commandments, and be further
instructed in the Church Catechism set
forth for that purpose.”
Surely this is simply farcical. When the baby is four, the
General will be 100, and should he live to that great age
I do not think there will be much possibility of effectual
communication between the two.
When the Archbishop was Vicar at Portsea I think he
used to tell his people that 15 or 16 was usually the best
age for a confirmation candidate.
The General, if he lives, will then be 111, and hardly in a
condition to approach the bishop with the child."
In 1928 the Reverend Bruce Cornford convened the inaugural meeting of the Waterlooville & District Motor Cycle and Light Car Club. The meeting took place at The Heroes Pub in Waterlooville.
Bruce died in 1940.
Published in the Liverpool Echo.
Next door neighbours garden is full of Dandelions, so i took a picture.

Port Saïd
Port Saïd is a city that lies in north east Egypt extending about 30 kilometres (19 mi) along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, north of the Suez Canal, with an approximate population of 604,000 (2010).
The city was established in 1859 during the building of the Suez Canal. The large building contains the offices of the Canal company.
There are numerous old houses with grand balconies on all floors, giving the city a distinctive look.
Port Saïd's twin city is Port Fuad, which lies on the eastern bank of the canal. The two cities are connected by free ferries running all through the day, and together they form a metropolitan area with over a million residents that extends both on the African and the Asian sides of the Suez Canal. The only other metropolitan area in the world that also spans two continents is Istanbul.
Rudyard Kipling once said:
"If you truly wish to find someone you
have known and who travels, there are
two points on the globe you have but
to sit and wait, sooner or later your man
will come there: the docks of London
and Port Saïd".
The Suez Canal
The Suez Canal offers a significantly shorter passage for ships than passing round the Cape of Good Hope.
The construction of the Suez Canal was favoured by the natural conditions of the region: the comparatively short distance between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, the occurrence of a line of lakes or depressions which became lakes (Lake Manzala in the north, and depressions, Timsah and the Bitter Lakes, part way along the route), and the generally flat terrain.
Ferdinand de Lesseps
The construction of the canal was proposed by the engineer and French diplomat Ferdinand de Lesseps, who acquired from Said Pasha the rights of constructing and operating the canal for a period of 99 years.
The Opening of the Suez Canal
The Compagnie Universelle du Canal Maritime de Suez was formed. Construction took 11 years, and the canal opened on 17 November 1869. The canal had an immediate and dramatic effect on world trade.
Nationalisation of the Canal
In July 1956 the Egyptian government nationalised the Suez Canal Company, which had been run by the French and owned privately, with the British as the largest shareholders.
The Suez Crisis
The Israeli–British–French invasion of Egypt which followed is known in Egypt as the Tripartite Aggression, but elsewhere as the Suez Crisis of 1956.
Closure of the Canal
Following Israel's invasion and occupation of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula in the Six-Day War of 1967, the Canal was closed, and did not reopen until 1975.
The Canal Today
Today, the Canal is a vital link in world trade, and contributes significantly to the Egyptian economy; in 2009 the income generated from the canal accounted for 3.7% of Egypt's GDP.
