Varenna is a comune on Lake Como in the Province of Lecco in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 60 kilometres north of Milan and about 20 kilometres northwest of Lecco.
Varenna was founded by local fishermen in 769, and was later allied of the commune of Milan. In 1126 it was destroyed by the rival commune of Como, and later received the refugees from the Isola Comacina, who had met the same fate (1169).

Bodiam Castle (/ĖboŹdiÉm/) is a 14th-century moated castle near Robertsbridge in East Sussex, England. It was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, a former knight of Edward III, with the permission of Richard II, ostensibly to defend the area against French invasion during the Hundred Years' War. Of quadrangular plan, Bodiam Castle has no keep, having its various chambers built around the outer defensive walls and inner courts. Its corners and entrance are marked by towers, and topped by crenellations. Its structure, details and situation in an artificial watery landscape indicate that display was an important aspect of the castle's design as well as defence. It was the home of the Dalyngrigge family and the centre of the manor of Bodiam.
The castle is protected as a Grade I listed building and Scheduled Monument. It has been owned by The National Trust since 1925, donated by Lord Curzon on his death, and is open to the public.

This Hermit Crab is an incredibly tiny creature, barely larger than a thumb nail. With its intricately patterned shell, this miniature crab scampers along beaches and coral reefs, seeking shelter and food. Its petite size adds a touch of charm to its already mysterious allure, reminding us of the fascinating wonders that exist in our world, no matter how small.
Some blooming oil seed I took a few shots of back in May when the colours were full on. You can see the tower of East Meon church in the background. I have got a lot of back catalogue stuff which I have only just started looking at from way back in the year so there is no real rhyme or reason to this shot but I just liked the colour.

... another light painting image. Iāve wanted to try the book thing for a while but havenāt had an opportunity to set the shot up. This weekās theme was perfect and I ended up capturing some hearts in the light too. Happy Valentineās Day to you all. Strong ripples in the sand at Balmoral Beach.
A local beach that I have been to many times .. but this was the first time for a sunrise with photographic intent.
A nice low tide exposed some great features along the edge of the harbour, including these strong ripples at the edge of the rock pool.

A Berkeley institution. World-renowned pizza!
HDM! HTM!
AND it's a bakery--breads. This view shows the bakery work section, which is why we don't see any big pizza ovens. My son straightened me out on this. This is also adjacent to the sales, shipping , and carry out section, which may explain some of what we see.
well I'm no good at blowing my own trumpet and I'm a little embarrassed
at doing so but this image of mine was published, so what the hell...

After spending the night at Mintos Hut altitude 4,290 meters (14,075 ft), on our ascendant to point Lenana, this was early morning view of the peaks before the cloud coverage.
The plants are Giant Groundsels (Dendrosenecio keniodendron) and are endemic to the high altitude of the Afrotropic.

While I sometimes struggle to emphasize the actual size of massive trees like the Redwoods and Sequoias, I also struggle to include humans or human-made things in my pictures. While at the redwood groves, there were a few instances where I had people walking through my frame, and instead of taking the picture with them, I instinctively waited until they passed to take the image. After the week, I only had about five pictures where I intentionally included people in my shot. So I guess the struggle will stay on for a while. Today's shot is an image of a massive Redwood I took at the Drury-Chaney trail. While composing this image, I noticed my wife admiring the tree and how her being in the frame conveyed size so well. She was initially standing to my left in the same pose but out of the frame. After I composed the image, I asked her to change position and to recreate the pose. Thankfully she was in the mood to oblige, and I got this amazing picture out of it. One thing that surprised me about this image was the size of the ferns, and I didnāt think they were that big until I started to look at the photos.
Panorama of Manly Beach.
Manly is the main beach on Sydney's north shore, and is easily accessible by ferry from the city, making it a popular tourist destination. Manly also hosts the reknown annual Manly Jazz Festival as well as other food and wine fairs.
Part of the small fishing village at Bulgo Beach. A fantastic, location untouched bar these small cottages, and only accessable by sea or a steep path back up the hill.
Three years ago I published an image like this under the title Incubus. This was the text going with it:
"This is the tool, a pitchfork, that the man who wishes to be the British Prime Minister wants to use in order to drive out the "great incubus", namely the European Union. Words matter. "Incubus" is a term taken from religious language. It describes the Devil entering you sexually. When Mr Boris Johnson conjures up the scenario of the EU f...g the UK from behind and that he would "pitchfork" it off the back of the British people [BBC interview, 24/6/19] you know what you have to expect. You have been warned."
Today, Mr Johnson resigned from office. His incompetence and dishonesty caused great damage inside and outside of the UK. Those who supported him and swept him into power have to ask themselves how they are going to regain credibility.
I went walking with the family on the last day of Winter. Up and over Bangalley Headland on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.
Winter is clearly history! What a fantastic afternoon.
Boats and a boatshed on Bulgo Beach.
Bulgo Beach is at the Southern end of The Royal National Park, and is home to a small fishing community housed in an eclectic collection of small cottages.
A slightly different take on the previous version of this scene posted a couple of days ago. I really liked the soft water flow of the shorter shutter speed.
Which do you prefer?
i just had 4 photos published in this months issue of Digital Photo magazine, "Britain's best-selling photography mag" (average issue readership is 389,000)
so, this is the first time i've ever been published, i'm happy.

The beautiful villa was built at the end of XVII century by the Milanese marquis Giorgio Clerici in a natural basin between lake and mountains, facing the dolomite Grignas and the peninsula of Bellagio. The architect created for the Clericis an important but sober building, with an Italian garden decorated with sculptures, stairs and fountains.
In 1801 Gian Battista Sommariva, famous politician, businessman and patron of arts, bought the villa. Thanks to this owner the property in Tremezzo attained the summit of its splendour and became one of the most important halting-place of the Grand Tour. The villa became a temple of XIX century art with works of Canova, Thorvaldsen and Hayez: Palamedes, Eros and Psyche, Terpsychore, The last kiss of Romeo and Juliet are only some of the masterpieces that enriches the extraordinary collection. Under Sommariva part of the park was transformed in a fascinating romantic garden.
Sommariva's heirs sold the villa in 1843 to Princess Marianne of Nassau, Albert's of Prussia wife, who gave it as a present to her daughter Carlotta in occasion of her wedding with Georg II of Saxen-Meiningen. Hence the name Villa Carlotta. Very fond in botanic, Georg enriched the park, today of great historical and environmental value. The gardens of Villa Carlotta chiefly owe their reputation to the rhododendrons' and azaleas' spring flowering, consisting of over 150 different sorts.

Check out this Incredible Nebraska Shelf Cloud. Heading south via Hwy 15. Even after some horrible road construction, and a detour from HELL, my timing was on the spot.
Now in front of this severe warned thunderstorm. Via Hwy 92 West... I had camera in hand and video to stream this event live that afternoon. This supercell was a Photographic Beast!
