Turkey has some very strict laws against criticizing the government. I don't know what this protest was about, but I was a little surprised to see anything like this allowed on the streets at all.

An estimated 5,000 people turned out for the march to protest
the Kinder Morgan pipeline, which will bring crude oil and refined petroleum from the oil sands in Alberta to Vancouver, British Columbia, presumably to be shipped to China. This will increase tanker traffic in and is a danger to our already threatened marine life in the Inside Passage, where two recent spills in two months have already occurred this year. An estimated 5,000 protesters joined the march, from the City Hall to the downtown library.

A few days ago, there was a protest in front of city hall to draw attention to a cut in the Housing Subsidy Bonus paid out to the marginally housed. I caught this shot of a protestor putting up his signs and couldn't help but notice the juxtaposition between them and the message on the tree--something he no doubt appreciated too.
Taken with an Olympus OM-1 using a Zuiko 28mm lens. Shot on Tri-X 400 and developed in Blazinal for 17.5 minutes at 18 degrees Celsius.
Disgruntled residents facing eviction the day after this protest, as the hotel has been deemed to be unsafe.
Ambulances are a common sight in this part of town, mostly due to the high number of drug overdoses.
Whether you agree or disagree with the protests going on around the country, it's clear that Americans are sick of the undercurrent of racism that still runs through the country.
These images are meant to document a small piece of what has happened in Denver. They were not taken to condone, nor condemn, these actions.
