Protesters march from Glasgow Central Mosque along the banks of the Clyde assembling on the Suspension Bridge. A wreath in commemoration of the dead was cast in to the river.
The demonstration led by the Stop the War Coalition banner was loud and angry.

“The lead-up to Saturday’s protests against the TPPA shows the commitment of people across the country to send a message that the government can’t ignore”, said ItsOurFuture spokesperson Edward Miller.
A video shows young activists publicising Saturday’s nationwide protests with footage from Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, Christchurch, and Nelson.
Action in the 22 centres starts at 10am in Raglan and many of the larger centre marches begin at 1pm, including Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
“People have been incredibly creative”, Miller said. “In Christchurch a giant plain-packaged cigarette packet will be marching in the crowd, while Auckland will be led by an enormous Trojan Horse, locked in a tug-of-war between major commercial interests and activist communities.”
“Around the country everyday kiwis will be photographed for a virtual campaign with signs saying ‘I am a ___________ and I say #TPPANoDeal.’ Already this campaign has been very popular.”
“Trade minister Tim Groser needs to recognise that people don’t buy the ‘trust me’ line. They want to be listened to when they say they don’t want the TPPA. And they deserve to be listened to.”

vUp to 1000 people, including politicians, have joined activists in a march to Auckland's Mt Eden Prison to protest against recent police raids.
The protest, one of thirteen organised in centres around the country, drew a diverse range of people, with a bus filled with people from Tuhoe arriving especially for the march.

IN A PEACEFUL MARCH TO PROTEST
THE PASSAGE OF PROPOSITION 8!!!!
The protest began at 11am in Leimert Park, turned into a march at 11:30am that proceeded on the sidewalks along Crenshaw and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvds, then returned to Leimert Park to end. Approximately 200 people were at the protest - mostly from the Black community - with a few White, Asian, Latino, and other supporters. Reverend Freda Lanoix and others spoke to the protesters. She made a point of saying (and I'm paraphrasing) that although it's great to go protest in West Hollywood, it's was important for the Black community to make a stand in their own "hood" too. A nice touch during one of the speeches was that the speaker (sorry I don't know the name) asked that we think of someone who is no longer with us to come support us and walk alongside us at the march. Then she asked us to call out the names. I yelled out Vito Russo - who not only was a huge influence on me for writing the seminal gay film book "The Celluloid Closet" - but who was also a prominent gay activist during the original AIDS crisis as a member of ACT UP. The only Yes on 8 protesters were a Black man and woman who followed alongside the march route in a large RV that had a few Yes On 8 signs in the windows. They never spoke to the crowd, but honked a bunch of times as they passed. The honking didn't really make any sense to me because usually cars that honk as they pass the protesters are honking in support. The protest/march was completely peaceful and it was great to see the fight from the side of Black LGBT since the the Black community has been scapegoated for coming out to the polls and voting Yes on 8 in such large numbers. - Lydia Marcus
Students rallied with the slogan "make education free again" in Melbourne today, part of a national day of protests.
Thousands of people gathered in Sydney — a year out from the NSW state election — demanding action to protect land, water, and cultural heritage from the threat of coal mining and coal seam gas.
The march went from Martin Place through the city to Prince Alfred Park — it included people from communities all over the state and was led by representatives from Indigenous communities.
“We are at a crossroads. One path leads to clean air, clean water, clean energy, protection of cultural heritage and healthy communities. The other path leads to more coal and coal seam gas mining. It’s time to carve out a positive future. It’s our time to choose: clean water, clean air and clean energy,” said Glenn Morris, farmer from Inverell and participant in the #Time2Choose rally.

October 27, 2015. I spoke to this man before I asked to take his picture. He was standing outside Cristina Martins' constituency office on Bloor. Martins is the Member of Provincial Parliament for Davenport. The man is an injured worker who was denied his WSIB (workplace insurance) claim. He decided to take his case public because "I have nothing else left to lose."

We were fortunate enough to be in Berlin in '89 and I suppose fortunate enough not to be in Cairo tonight but it did remind us of the buzz (I don't know how else to describe it) of people with freedom in their grasp. This isn't a political view, it's just an appreciation of human spirit. Let's hope for a peaceful outcome.

Yesterday 22nd Aug 2013, the IAWM (Irish anti War Movement) organised Bradley Manning solidarity protest in front of the American Embassy in Dublin.
Bradley Manning was sentenced 35 years for exposing the illegal acts of the American government!
Bradley Manning has asked from now on to be described by female pronouns and to be called Chelsea.
