Photos taken during the protests that erupted when the National Socialist Movement (Neo-Nazis) marched to the Phoenix Federal building. The NSM was there to protest a federal judge's decision to 'water down' the SB1070 immigration legislation. I've never seen a more disgusting group of people assembled in one place, but it was their right to have their march and to say what they wanted to say. Fortunately the Phoenix Police Department was there to keep things under control. Pepper spray was used but that was only when the anarchists got too close. Quite a day I can tell you.

I was stunned, overwhelmed, and astonished by the protest at Shahbag. Within minutes I was engulfed by the spirit, energy, and excitement of the crowd there, immediately drawn in the public's desire to get "proper" justice. The environment was phenomenal--there were people from all backgrounds, ages, and religions--and the air was electric with the slogans, optimism, and hopefulness of the crowd.

Protestors at Marin County's Statue of Sir Francis Drake
June 17, 2020
Black Lives Matter protestors, Coast Miwok Indigenous people, youth and grandmothers, rallied Wednesday at the Marin County statue of Sir Francis Drake, calling for the removal of the statue and the renaming of Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Following the rally, protestors poured into Sir Francis Drake Blvd, blocking traffic in both directions and forcing police to redirect traffic to and from the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. Many of the protestors then marched towards the bridge and stopped at the Highway Patrol blockade at the onramp, where they took a knee to honor George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and all those who had been killed by police and systems of racist oppression.
Sir Francis Drake was an English explorer who circumnavigated the globe, was a privateer and pirate, and is believed to have landed in what is now known as Drake's Bay in the Point Reyes National Seashore. He was also a slave trader and played a central role in England's initial involvement in the slave trade. The statue that is associated with him stands across the channel from the Larkspur Ferry terminal in Marin County, California. Sir Francis Drake Blvd is the main thoroughfare connecting east and west Marin County.

Two autopsies found Floyd's death to be a homicide.[12][13] Chauvin was initially charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, to which was later added second-degree murder; the three other officers were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.
