El elemento más destacado del templo es el cimborrio, que se alza en el crucero. Tiene planta octogonal, se apoya sobre trompas, y el tambor se divide en dos cuerpos –exteriormente separados por importas- disponiendo de ocho ventanas con arco de medio punto que iluminan generosamente la iglesia. La cúpula se sostiene sobre ocho radios de perfil circular no cruzados que convergen en una clave central y que apoyan en columnas sostenidas por ménsulas, cuatro decoradas con rostros humanos, y otras cuatro con los símbolos de los evangelistas.
La Iglesia de Santa María la Mayor de Villamuriel de Cerrato (Palencia, España), empezó a construirse en los últimos años del siglo XII por encargo del Obispado de Palencia con un claro carácter protector y defensivo, formando parte de un conjunto de edificios. Es de estilo románico de transición al gótico, destacando su unidad de estilo. El templo presenta planta basilical con tres naves, cabecera de tres ábsides rectos, transepto con el mismo alzado que la nave central, un grandioso cimborrio sobre el crucero y una espectacular torre a los pies. Las cubiertas se resuelven con bóveda de crucería sencilla.

Of the Crystal Protectors*, as powerful as the common Sprites** are, none can match the Warrior Sprite.
Sprite culture is a generally happy affair with children being taught the traditional "Leightzoar", or "Sprite games" from their start. The "Leightzoar", while quite enjoyable to the Sprites, and quite a spectacle to those outsiders who are privileged to witness them, are also intricate and nuanced aptitude tests.
As throngs of Sprites cheer the youngsters in the demonstrations of skill and the competitive individual and team events, Sprite Elders watch for particular attributes. All Sprite youth can enjoy the benefits of exceling in a particular challenge or sport, but much of their drive comes from the desire to be chosen and elevated to a "Thurnveis" or Warrior Sprite.
The desired aptitudes are generally identified by the elders by the age of 7, with few Sprites being chosen older than 10, and never older than 13. The young Sprite is then separated from society for the 17 year training known as the "Thurnselke" or Warrior's Way. Overall, less than 1% of Sprites qualify.
A fully trained Warrior Sprite is a force to be reckoned with. Their natural Sprite abilities are greatly magnified in both power and range. They learn the art of "twisting" multiple strike forms together and, most devastatingly, the wide ranged wave attacks.
A Warrior Sprite can send forth a pulse of negative energy that can instantaneously stop all life in a quarter mile diameter, or even shape the field to affect certain types of energy.
In the tavern halls, one of the most told events of fantasy warfare is the turning point of the Battle of Lily Down where a rare full battalion of Nightfiends*** were laying waste to the last defenses there. The folks of Lily Down had intentionally established their community as close to a Sprite convene as they could and, as the Battle of Lily Down turned, sought the aid of their neighbors.
A lone Warrior Sprite came in the darkest of that terrible night. Seconds later all the Nightfiends were evaporated. Seconds after that, all of the mighty Troll Brawlers**** lay lifeless. The remaining enemies tried to flee but when the dawn broke, the fair fields of Lily Down were littered with bodies. No enemy escaped.

Today's story and sketch" by me started pretty hectic, two emergency alarms going off first thing, I was enjoying my granola moon pie and coffee when I heard the first alarm, it was on the interstellar notification system from the Planet Peekapoo's Fire and Rescue department's officer of the day, to inform me or any EMT units near Peekapoo's North Pole, to please give Assistance to Rescue Randy, who just called for help after crashing another nuclear powered dimension jumping Layzman's Stratolounger. Randy explained to the Peekaboo Dispatcher he was mostly ok, a bit shaken and had some pretty severe injuries, and he was very cold, his seven hundred mile an hour crash augured the Stratolounger into the polar ice, he believed about one hundred feet deep, and was doing his best to crawl out of the slippery ice to signal the Rescue Team. And could they please bring some hot cocoa, with the little marshmallows on top. When I heard that I was confident Rescue Randy the most interesting living tissue crash test dummy in the Cosmos was going to be fine. The second alarm was on the "MCPPOTG" Man Cave Posse Protectors Of The Galaxy" systems, "MWHA" malfunctioning worm hole alert, seems some unscrupulous worm hole hackers diverted the worm hole seven Martian Senior Citizens Center exit, to the Playa Beautimus Retirement Resort's exit on Earth. I asked JB to travel to the resort and help any of the confused seniors with directions back to Mars, and as you can see two very confused tourists in Dimension Lounges exiting the "PBR" ZXII Stargate, just as JB is arriving on scene, until next time taa ta the Rod Blog.
I realized that I've severely dropped the ball on sharing my new images here. That makes me sad because Flickr is my photographic home and I've hoarded about 30-40 images that I could have been documenting! So here we go...I'm going to post one every day until I get through the lot of them!
This realization that I've been so bad about uploading has also forced me into a different, more intentional headspace. To consider that what I make I also want to share, and that I need to so do with more intent if I want to call myself an artist...or at least the artist I want to be.

When the last tube train has left the station, when the only light is the wet reflections of the neon shop signs, when the foxes come out of their hiding places and when the only sound is the swoosh of the late night delivery trucks along the empty streets, then the protectors come out -- they watch over the streets and the creatures of the city. They are part of the city. They are the city. From what do they protect us, you might ask, if you believe in them. Well, if you don't know, then they, the protectors, are doing a good job of it, right?
