New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA) R42 no. 4807 (St. Louis Car Co., 1969-1970) is the lead motor on an out-of-service train rising onto the IND Liberty Avenue Line at Liberty Junction. This train was acting as a protect train for an R211T train that had been running on the Rockaway Line test track earlier in the day, which had passed just minutes before en-route back to Pitkin Yard.
Unfortunately my shot of the R211T train that I had waited hours for was blocked by a southbound A train that departed Rockaway Blvd Station too soon...

This watchful fox momma stands guard over her kits as they play on a sunny morning at the edge of a dilapidated barn. Last year there was a litter at this same barn; it was a thrill to see foxes at the same place this spring.
Belated Mother's Day wishes to all the Moms out there! Mother's Day in this family was particularly special,as my daughter gave birth to her second child on May 4th.

That hard stare is universal in its meaning. This mama bear had staked out her fishing hole and so many other bears passed by giving her a wide berth and she hardly ever glanced their way. This bear was different. The cubs knew it, too. They huddled, she glared. The big male kept coming. The family quietly left the river for the cover of the alders allowing him to pass by without altercation.
A demon and a cyborg walk into a bar...... ._.
Oh, Caidan. We've known each other for 6 years or so... ever since I started playing secondlife.... youve forever been there for me... whenever I need someone to speak to... I've used my art to portray you as a guardian angel in the past ( HERE ) So this time I portrayed our relationship as you being my protector, shielding me from evil and always standing by my side when I need someone. Thank you for being there for me... (Also, you needed a profile update. its been what, 3 years? :P) <3

We crossed paths yesterday in the shade below a tree in my garden. She is really tiny--those leaves are from a spiraea and are less than 1" long.
She's protecting her eggs Not sure the LoB will show this large enough, try Original size in All Sizes
Este curioso árbol parece una persona con los brazos abiertos.
Puedes interpretar la foto de diferentes maneras, yo veo a un protector del bosque desde donde está dicho árbol está hasta donde acabe el bosque...

This is the male kingbird. He’s protecting the nest while the female is away, taking a break from sitting on her eggs:)

At first I could not read this, it's like tagging, I just have trouble reading it - I finally asked him - it says "Protector". He is in the military, the other arm says "Savior".
For to wish to forget how much you loved someone – and then, to actually forget – can feel, at times, like the slaughter of a beautiful animal who chose, by nothing short of grace, to make a habitat of your heart.

I've been spending some quality time with my inner bear lately. I miss the hugs. So, since I can't have one physically, I thought I'd photoshop one instead <3
I've been doing well, but I'm in a bit of a weird headspace at the moment. I'm not sad, but nor am I as happy as I used to be - obviously before It Happened I had all the reasons in the world to be happy, but I feel like I'm in a bit of a grey area between holding on and moving on. Not one part of me wants to let go to anything, any of the memories, any of the love. I fully accept I'll meet someone else eventually, but I hope it will be more of an addition than a replacement of love. I'm questioning whether I'm entirely open to letting someone in (especially following the nightmare of what happened back in December) and whether that's prohibiting me from letting other good stuff in.
Things for me to think about, anyway! Being able to look at it all objectively and monitor myself is quite interesting and makes the whole experience less painful, anyway :-)
