The 16th Annual Child and Youth Protection Catholic Leadership Conference, hosted by the Diocese of Grand Rapids and offered through the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, was held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, June 5-8.

More than 150 participants representing many of the 196 dioceses/eparchies in the United States and its territories attended. Conference participants primarily include safe environment directors and victim assistance coordinators. Others who attend include bishops, vicars for clergy, chancellors, human resource directors and those representing affiliated Catholic ministries involved in helping to bring healing to victim-survivors.

The conference offers the opportunity for these individuals to gather in community to learn how to better develop, support, and institute the safe environment ministry of the Catholic Bishops by fulfilling their promise to protect children and their pledge to heal victim-survivors harmed by clergy sexual abuse.
