This car is a prop on the property of Klug's Photo World www.klugsphotoworld.com/ Last evening was our photo clubs annual Model Shoot headed up by Jeff Klug at his Studio. Each year we get five or so new models just starting out and as a club we shoot them in various locations (setups) outside and inside the studio. Each club photographer that partakes in the event provides ten of our best shots to each model for their portfolio. Jeff is also head of the Menomonee Falls Camera Club www.falls-photo.org. I hope to post some of my photos soon.

I went to Hobby Lobby today and bought a couple of little things for the nightstand in Kess's apartment. The little jug of roses I found in the miniature/dollhouse section. The little bottle I found in the scrapbooking section. I filled it with beach sand and added the sea shells from my own collection.

It’s silly but I do love props! This is supposed to be for cellphones but I wouldn’t chance it. Perfect for Scotch tape and I’m sure you’ll see it a lot

Just for pose, sure that you will need one of this, this summer ;)

Walkens house of film. I’ve bought off them years ago and now again that I’m getting back into film. They’re a class act. Lovingly wrapped film in great boxes proclaiming film as their contents and always a sticker ! And at great prices. Seriously if you buy film they’re worth a look. Yes I like them.

The Fantasy Room just started today, and i´m joining with this prop , sure sure that you will love it :) Mooore...

I've made several props over the course of the week. Sadly, the pieces of the glasses weren't aligned so it looks pretty bad. I have to make another one :(

Ever since I saw Rob's pic www.flickr.com/photos/dobseh/6404235887/in/photostream, I wanted to use these props. But i seriously lack the talent, equipment and time so this is not even close to what i wanted to do. Another day may be, for now it is the simplistic take on dices and props.

ODC: Prop

I almost got it right....

Doc, a Boeing B-29 Superfortress at Airventure last year. One of only two airworthy B-29s and I believe the only remaining ship from the Snow White Squadron.

Eastbourne. Took the dog for a drive and saw this broken bench propped up with logs.

Early morning condensation off the props.

Lies Baas 2011....I have this friend, a real train, plane, automobile-fan....and he has this thing for Dakota's. He has been a Dakota fan his whole life...So...sunday we went just for a quick view to Rotterdam Airport, to see one fly off.....not knowing on arrival that within 6 minutes we would be on that same flight too. It was a great flight!!!!

Sadly I only had my iPhone with me....but the view from such a roaring beast is just one of the best machinary sounds ever!!!!

I worked with the art department on a recent music video for the Sony Latin artist Yuridia. This self portrait is on one of the tables in the video. My neck's going to be like, soooo famous in Mexico.

I photoshopped off all my tattoos, which for some reason was way harder than I had anticipated. It was also 3:30am, and I had to be on set in five hours.

With a little brush cleaning and some slight elevation with the Buick we were able to catch the second EMD consist in style. 270 rounds the curves at La Crescent in a spot Josh pointed out. Thanks for the ride, elevation, and expertize in the area, it made for an enjoyable day!

Santa Barbara airport approach - unless one photographs plane-to-plane, it is hard to have a slow enough shutter speed to blur the propeller into a full circle. 1/125 almost did the trick; 1/100 probably would have done it. But I usually one use 1/160 or faster as the keeper rate for sharp images drops significantly at the slower shutter speeds.

I was fortunate to be invited to a steampunk-based photoshoot recently. It was a small and very friendly gathering lasting several hours at Wickham Park in Manchester Connecticut. This tiny venue was a rather intimate assembly of models and actors who came equipped with props, costume and the artistic enthusiasm to create dynamic themes.

Much of my recent work has been in a controlled studio environment without worry or concern of ambient light. Adding the extra measure of ambient light to flash/strobe work certainly left me bewildered. Could I make a compelling image especially when the pace was fast moving?

After several discussions with the organizer via telephone, I chose to bring a truckload of on location lighting with 2 Einstein monolights with a battery pack, several stands and modifiers along with a couple of speedlights. I was under the impression that large sets would be erected in the shade as backdrops. I was concerned with adequate illumination..

I spent the better part of two hours packing and essentially turning my studio into a warzone from the disassembly. Upon arrival, I realized I over prepared for this event. In fact, I was the only photographer who brought any lighting equipment whatsoever. I suppose being prepared is paramount but truthfully, throughout the four hours, I used only a single Speedlight, one camera body and one lens with a 25” Octabox mounted on a 13’ Paul C. Buff light stand.

The image I posted was shot almost at the end of the event. Ironically, this image was made almost solely with natural light. Environmental portraits are a rarity in my workflow. The black & white treatment seemed to be fitting. I find the image stirring and the background virtually melted away from shooting at F3.2 at 70 mm. I can only take a small credit for the image. If it were not for the invitation or the creative pose from this beautiful woman, it would have remained a fuzzy concept without substance.

Thank you David and thank you Kait for making this experience possible.

Regards to those who have supported me during my long absences of not posting.

Yes, the Flaneur With A Camera must admit, he stopped and made another lonely chair photograph. He can't help himself. At least it's a three-legged chair.
