This week's Saturday Flashback looks back to a classic era of civil aviation.
Painted in 1999, this wonderful work by Jonathan Frank depicts some of the aircraft that frequented Houston Municipal Airport in the 1940's and 50's, as well as the Terminal Building that still stands today as a museum.
I am more than happy for those more knowledgeable about aviation than myself to correct the following. Airborne is a Trans-Texas Airways DC3, known as "Super-Starliners". Note the wheel shrouds! On the ground there is an Eastern Air Lines Lockheed Super Constellation. The third large aircraft may be a Braniff? Possibly a Lockheed Electra?

Built at Vickers Armstrong Southampton in 1939 it was issued to No. 19 Squadron who were based at RAF Duxford in 1940

Instead of having a bloke swinging on the prop to start the engine of the older type of aircraft we see here the Hucks Prop Starter . To save the bloke losing a hand or his head this device was produced by Bentfield Hucks during World War One . As the plane engine engaged the Hucks Starter would disengage and be taken away ready for the plane to taxi off . Seen here at the Fly Navy Event at Old Warden Airfield home of The Shuttleworth Collection of which this Hucks starter is part of .

Llegit en un dels llocs d'internet: Per fruir de la fotografia cal tenir la mirada d'una criatura i l'esperit d'un infant. No és textual, per`hi estic tant i tant d'acord mestre Tino Soriano que l'he posat a la meva manera ja em perdonaràs.
És evident que cal mirar i veure tot l'entorn amb ulls innocents per poder-se meravellar de tot l'entorn i de cada detall, més així podem tenir certa originalitat i, de ben segur trobar la bellesa o aquell fet que ens dona un cop al sentits i als sentiments.
Tinc la sort de conviure cada dia amb gent de més de 80 anys , fins i tot de més de 90 anys i sempre m'ensenyen moltes coses entre elles que la joventut pot tenir força i empenta, però no sempre té el coneixement per buscar aquells detalls que estant a prop nostre.
Afegeixo que allò important no és l'edat que tinguem, sinó en la manera que mirem, observem i ho deixem de veure.
Aquestes floretes estan al mig del passeig en un jardinet a prop d'on hi passeja la gent, quan vaig fer aquesta foto, un parell de persones em van dir que fotografies aquí, si no hi ha res més que herba, quan els hi ensenyo el que estava fent em diuen ni m'hi havia fixat. Doncs, jo busco això, allò que tinc a la bast però quasi ningú veu.
