A vintage "microphone" in the making.
Not made to be photographed close up, and not yet finished (the base is only there so I can get this shot) - I must say I'm rather pleased with it.
This is a rather strange fabric - a vaguely-glittery fine mesh attached to a sturdy black backing fabric.
I have NO idea what someone would do with it, as though it drapes well, it's not really "pretty" and is very heavy.
But it screamed "fine metal mesh" to me when I saw it in the remnant bin, and I picked it up for a song.
It is sewn over a framework circlet of sewn together pieces of plastic canvas mesh.
Yes, it's taken me more time than it's probably worth, but in person, and at a distance, it's actually rather nice looking.
This will be prop #3 for the year, as week #4 comes to an end. As this prop was a bit more complex, I'll probably call the base, whatever I ultimately decide on, prop #4.
7 Days of Shooting: Imitations - Focus Friday
Autotags: "electronics" - well the bots were fooled! Of course, they hedged their bets by adding "knit" to this shot (but not the more distant shot, in the comments, below.)

I also had to make props. Not having a good source for a gnome-scale gas can (for the "Gneed Gnas" gnome, Empti), I decided the easiest thing to do was make one out of concrete.

time for a confession: i have never been to a county fair before this week. additionally, i had never really seen any 4H events. what can i say, i'm a city girl. one of the weirdest things i saw was these advanced pig wrangers. they pushed the pigs around with baton things. it was odd. they hit them, relatively gently, in the sides and the face, to show the judge that they could handle them (i think?). the pigs were turning red in their pink areas. the brush in the girl's butt pocket was for grooming the pig prior to hitting it around the ring. we watched for about 5 minutes till we could watch no more.
TheFactionist.com, ethical organic clothing
This is probably our most contentious shirt yet. Unfortunately, a majority of California actually disagrees with us. But The Factionist isn't one to step back from its ideals - Americans have the right to be equal before the law, straight, gay, or otherwise. "Defining" marriage for the purpose of segregation just isn't good - in fact, it kinda sucks.
